I've got my manual back, so I'm looking into all these different pretender possibilities with a vengeance.

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

I'll get my pretender in soon, probably later today. How much time do we have before the game can start?

I think llama gets back Friday, Ubercat.

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

Ok, uploaded my pretender. What is the turn timer set on? I'm getting married on Friday and have a busy weekend ahead of me. Could we start at 48 hours?

Lazy_Perfectionist September 14th, 2007 03:22 AM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

Pretender uploaded... Since I wasn't going to be satisfied if I spent a year designing one, I've went ahead and submitted a somewhat thematic one.

Thematic is always good. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Sure, Uber, we'll do 48 hours. Congrats on your wedding! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

Okay, I'm back. So, to confirm the game details - you want the map attached to the first post. Um, mods, did I see you want Worthy Heroes? Any others? How about game settings? Graphs?

Sorry if this is all in the thread and I missed it. I skimmed it but didn't read it properly.

llamabeast September 15th, 2007 02:40 PM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

Still waiting for confirmation of game details so I can start the game.

thraveboy September 15th, 2007 03:30 PM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

Yep llama. Map attached at the beginning, Worthy Heroes (latest), no graphs, renaming allowed.

Thanks!

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

Guys, sorry I dropped the ball on the wraparound on the map. We're having a big music festival here in town, and I've been insanely busy setting up for it. I hope everyone is okay with no wraparound, this time http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Real sorry...

calmon September 15th, 2007 04:24 PM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

The game wants heroes 1.7. I can only find 1.7b in the forum. It seems this version fixed a bug in 1.7.

If we use 1.7 someone have to upload this version here.

Second Question: What are the victory conditions? (VP? How much of them?)

thraveboy September 15th, 2007 05:23 PM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

Yeah, I have Worthy Heroes 1.7b also.

Upload... Attached 1.7

I'm really interested to see the name Ymir. I'm curious as to whether their interpretation of the great giant is any way similar to mine when I played LA Atlantis.

I'm a bit disappointed with the map. The layout is interesting, but I've got no actual mountains, just border mountains. Which means I'm kept out of my only defensible fortress, the Mountain Citadel, and left with options mostly in the low hundreds (with the farmland fortification the lone exception, with less than half the defense.

But that's a factor of randoms, and I got so caught up in wraparound I forgot to ask for real mountains. Stupidly, I've learned how to do just this for the random map I've been working on for BAG, but forgot to even request or think of it for this one.

I'm willing to play on, however. This is my first MP with Yomi, and I don't expect to last that long even if all the cards are stacked in my favor. I do expect to give it a hard fight and learn as much as I can, though.

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

Thanks for 1.7! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I found 5 Victory Points on the map. Are there any reasons for only 5 VPs and i repeat my question from the post above: What are the victory conditions? Do we play with VP victory?

Thrawn September 16th, 2007 12:45 PM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

Unless llama configured the game for a victory point win, we are playing with plain vanilla victory conditions. I didn't mention victory points in the first post, so I'm sure he didn't.

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

Yep, no victory points.

As for worthy heroes - I believe the server is using heroes 1.7b, but the file's called heroes1_7.dm. I guess I must have renamed it, I can't remember why. Doesn't seem like a very helpful thing to do with hindsight (and a lack of memory)!

Anyway, you should use 1.7b, renamed to heroes1_7.dm. I'll attach it here for convenience. Because there is almost no difference between the versions this won't cause you problems in any other games.

llamabeast September 17th, 2007 06:27 AM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

PS Maps often end up with VPs on them even when they are not VP games. I say often - I think always in my experience, but there may be some underlying reason I'm missing. Anyway, the VPs are only important in that they produce 1 candle per turn for the owner (so they are like having a temple if you had a dominion 10 god).

Any chance we can postpone hosting with 20 hours for the next turn ? Won't have access to my dom3 computer until then.

Thrawn September 17th, 2007 12:13 PM

Sure Homer. Are you saying you need 20 more hours? I will add another 24 to the timer.

I totally spaced and just remembered that I'll be on vacation from September 30th to October 6th. So, I'll need a sub for that week. Putting the word out early. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Forming)

Hey, Evilhomer? Peace, war? Uneasy joining of the two? We had that unfortunate early skirmish, and once this turn's over I'll be committed to a course of action.

I am willing to make amends for this series of accidental conflicts... but I'm not eager for the delay of in-game communications.

Neifelheim is often known as a rush nation, so I'm a bit nervous. As well, I'm in the middle of negotiations with Ermor... though my opening offer wasn't greeted quite like I hoped (They took the two provinces I'd hoped for), I might be able to negotiate a lesser peace.

I don't need an immediate pact, but I am a little uncertain of what to do, other than refer to Sun-Tzu, Chapter IV, verse 15. I'm often too impetuous - that's costing me in Doom Chicken.

"Thus it is that in war the victorious strategist only seeks battle after the victory has been won, whereas he who is destined to defeat first fights and afterward looks for victory."

I'm trying to avoid the recklessness of the second part. I will withdraw from Plothai this turn. I am moving on the Sinks, however.

Hey all..

I haven't been able to find a sub for me playing R'lyeh from September 29th through October 6th. Thrawn has the password if y'all find someone to make sure the trains run on time. Otherwise, hopefully I'll be lucky and there won't be a rush into the water while I'm gone. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Thraveboy, do you plan on doing a turn today? Or, are you already gone? Just seeing when I need to pause hosting.

Yeah, I'd love to do my turn today. I'm leaving at 2:15 PST so hopefully Ermor will do their turn so that I can do one more iteration before I leave.

Thanks a lot!

Dunno. I'll have to make up my mind by Friday, as thats when BAG kicks off. And llama doesn't have internet access atm- so I don't know what that means for the games hosted by him.

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Playing)

Man... my income sucks.
Combining two death scales with several provinces under 1000 pop, and most around 3000 (yes, even the farmlands) is painful.

It's not even the troops I'm using- most of my demons are long dead. Its those damned researchers who are breaking my bank.

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Playing)

Hoh hum. Still short of money, as always. I'd have elephants if it wasn't for my poverty. The game taunts me.

If I've got a province bringing in 3 gold a turn, I might as well turn the population into flesh-eating ghouls. At least they don't ask for a paycheck. Besides, everybody's already recruiting priests anyways- I mean, I am a demon nation. I might as well give em more targets.

We interrupt your broadcast for a message from the Department of Tourism:

Visit Yomi today! We're a beautiful country, with hotsprings galore. Unlike those slothful nations, your stay will not be disturbed by the poor or homeless. In Yomi, we make sure no starving person goes uneaten [editor: surely you mean unfed?] [travel agent: no].

And now a word from our sponsor:

I sent my turn to the llamaserver but i didn't get any response.

I'm not alone with my problem: http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...o=&fpart=1

Thrawn could you stop the hosting with your admin options?

Janlm October 22nd, 2007 11:20 AM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Playing)

every game on llamaserver has that problem, and hosting can't be stopped, or delayed. I think most likely the server is down, so hosting won't happen anyway.

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Playing)

Everyone seem to have staled once, I for some reason has lost two turns. It has ruined my game completely, is there something we can do about this?

yeah i see, but it dosn't change that the game has been broken

Thrawn October 22nd, 2007 10:57 PM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Playing)

Does everyone agree the game is broken? I'm fine with continuing as is.

Lazy_Perfectionist October 23rd, 2007 01:12 AM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Playing)

Uhmm... It didn't acknowledge my turns when I sent them in originally, but I recieved receipt now...

It might be broken. I'll take a peek.
Yep. Everyone stalled....

The email says it sent me 29 (twice!) but the second one appears to be turn 30 (in game). And on the website the stale data shows 28 while the turn appears as 29.

What this means? It means I have no frikkin clue which turn to work on and send in.

I am interested in continuing- though not as a serious game. I'm changing my mind every second so I'll stop back tomorrow. I'm also interested in not continuing.... I'm indecisive.

calmon October 23rd, 2007 04:20 AM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Playing)

I've made my turn 29 (NOT the stale turn) and send it to the server and it accepted it.

But i'm not sure that the email server knows really the actual turn.

Did llama use a backup to take back the stale turn?

However i don't have llamas email adress so i can't contact him in his 1 week internet abstinence.

If someone have please pm it to me.

calmon October 23rd, 2007 11:48 AM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Playing)

Well confusion complete:

If i "Request Turn Resend" i get the staled turn so it seems there isn't any recover.

I hope Llamabeast read my email and clarify all this.

Thrawn could you please use you admin options and stop this game from hosting!

Thrawn October 23rd, 2007 02:01 PM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Playing)

yep, will stop the hosting...

i requested a turn resend as well. In addition, I got 2 emails as described by Lazy. If we all played with the FIRST email (which should be 29 not 30), would that put us back on track? I notice, however, some people have already submitted turns...

Thrawn October 23rd, 2007 02:08 PM

Re: Consecrated Ground: EA PBEM (Playing)

Llama responded in email, so you should have that. He basically suggested what i did above, play the earlier turn you received, not the second one, and it should work...
