Re: Mods

I'm a fan of the banners and streamers mod as well.

I'm really not familiar with the CB mods (i don't have a concern), were can I go for an overview of the changes? Thanks

PashaDawg November 12th, 2007 04:48 PM

Re: Mods

I'd be happy to give the banners mod a whirl. I have never used it, and it would be fun. I hope they'll look sassy on my map. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Bluebird's suggestion is a good one. I will email everyone a zip of the needed mods tonight. I will include the read-me files that I have about the CB-mods. I am not sure how updated the read-me's are (I am wreckless and have never read them), but they will provide some information about the changes.

Re: Mods

Am I missing something or do I still have no nation? I would like to know what I will play so I can play a few turns with that nation and design a pretender etc.

Plz let me know.

PashaDawg November 12th, 2007 07:04 PM

Re: Mods

Hi Aezeal:

You are missing nothing. I have not been able to give out nation assignments because I am waiting for a player or 2 to give me their top 5 choices for nations to play (I am not sure that I will use that system again). Hopefully, when I get home, I will have the information I need.

Ouch - Utgard. And I always have problems managing the food supplies anyway :-)

Obviously, players are free to trade nations if they choose. Just do it in time to start on Friday. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Nope, I love the challenge. And there is nothing that GROWTH 3 cannot fix.

Hi everyone. I'm brushing the dust off my game and my brain.

Welcome, Dragonfire11. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Pan

Archaeolept needed to drop out of the game. So, we now have an opening for someone to play Pan.

If we don't get a new player by tomorrow (Friday), then i would suggest that we just leave that slot open with no player (and no AI playing Pan).

yay! thanks Wokeye - this game looks like it'll be great fun, but my brain will explode if i add another one to my plate http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

edit: oh well... or if you want, i'd be happy to sub your turns while you're down, if you would like.

otherwise: Pan still available for the taking! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I will need to grab those mods and the map.

Re: Pan

Important question:
Password protect our pretenders?
With PBEM, no-one can grab our turns, except Pashadawg, so I suggest no password protection. Or, if people have already sent-in password protected pretenders, I recommend you set a masterpassword and write it down, Pashadawg.

I've been unable to contact one particular staller... its quite annoying.

PashaDawg November 16th, 2007 09:47 AM

Re: Pan

Welcome Wokeye. I sent you a private message with my email. I can send you the mods and other important information.

Because Wokeye is Down Under, we might wait until Saturday to start the game. There are fewer hours in the day when we are both awake, which can delay tasks and communication. However, it would be great, Wokeye, if we were able to start tonight (Friday, Boston time).

Regarding passwords, I always set a master password just in case. Players are not required to use passwords. However, I actually prefer them, because sometimes I accidentally click another player's turn when trying to open my own. I hate that, because if there is no password, then I have to cast my eyes away and try to close the turn without saving but without really seeing the turn. Then I suffer through a 6.844 second period feeling embarrassed and dirty. So, passwords are encouraged but not required. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Send Pretenders

Hello:

I have not received pretender files from:

Caelum / Morkilus
Man / Ramshead
Pan / Wokeye
Patala / Cainehill
Pythium / Ironhawk

Thanks.

Pasha

PashaDawg November 16th, 2007 11:11 AM

Re: Send Pretenders

Ok. Wokeye was spritely today and has already submitted his pretender. So, we are back on track to starting tonight as long as all other players get their pretenders in to me.

Wokeye, have you by any chance played the Fallout series of PC RPGs?

PashaDawg November 16th, 2007 09:24 PM

Re: Send Pretenders

One player needs a bit more time to get his pretender in. So, I expect that we'll start the game first thing Saturday morning (Boston time), while I sip my coffee. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Send Pretenders

LP, yep big fan of fallout. Can't wati until #3 comes out, hoping Bethesda don't stuff it by making it too serious/'g rated'/stupid console port/game decisions like Oblivion (eg scaling monster difficulty, main quest that can be completed straight up etc).

PashaDawg November 17th, 2007 10:41 AM

Re: Send Pretenders

Ugh! I just noticed that there is another player who has not submitted his pretender. I have contacted him, and hopefully, we'll be able to get the game going today.

Sorry for the delay.

Deadline is Sunday night, Boston time.

Re: Turn 1

Here's to Pipboys- and lets hope that Bethesda doesn't continue the tradition of your teammates shooting you in the back if you give them an Uzi. I'd hate for them to stuff it up by removing the constant fear of 'teamkill' that was core to F1 and F2.

Nothing interesting yet, don't even know the neighboring indies. Starting my strategy, such as it is.

I must say I really like this map, the best map for this game that I have seen yet. The locations of the nations eem to be there for roleplaying more then balance but thats okay.

THanks for the map Pasha, and thanks for hosting.

I have got a little bored of endlessly fighting Ermor or R'lyeh in LA so this senario makes a very pleasent change.

Some very nice LA nations that will now get a chance to shine in there own right.

Good one Pasha!

Thank you.

It was Jurri's idea to exclude Ermor and R'lyeh.

Delay

Wokeye needs a short extension due to the major time zone difference. There will be a slight delay. This should not be a big problem once we go to the 3-turn/week schedule.

I need to travel on Wednesday night for the Thanksgiving holiday in the USA. So, I won't be able to host the turn on Wednesday. Let's shoot to host by Friday night, if not sooner on Thursday evening.

Re: Turn 5 / Thanksgiving

Yes. Thanksgiving is the holiday where we all have a feast (usually Turkey). It also commemorates the first "Thanksgiving" in the Plymouth Colony by the English Puritan Pilgrims and local Native Americans in 1620 or so, if I recall correctly. It's probably my favorite holiday. No gifts. No bother. Just good food with friends and family, plus a 4-day weekend. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Lazy_Perfectionist November 21st, 2007 02:03 PM

Re: Turn 5 / Thanksgiving

It's commonly called "Turkey Day" since Turkey is such a commont theme. It's also the day President Bush pardons a couple of turkeys- and no, we're not talking about Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

Ok - I get it. It is the least commercial day of the year for family and friends.

And George pardons a number of Turkeys and refuses to pardon a number of death sentences.

lol no...it's the official start of the holiday shopping season, and a time of huge thanksgiving sales.

And I'm not sure if George getting a hummer from a turkey is traditional :-)
