Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Soon I hope...all they've said is to 'wait a couple more days' lol...
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
woot!
dom3 came today. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif I guess we can get the party started! Oh, one last change, sign me up for fomoria. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Hooray! I've PM'ed Llamabeast and asked him to fire our game up on his server. Hopefully it should be ready to accept your pretenders soon.
To create a pretender for MP, use the "Create a Pretender God" option in the Game Tools menu rather than starting a new game. |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
This game is hosted and the server is ready to accept pretenders!
For instructions on how the PBEM will work, and for how to upload your pretender to the game server, check out llamaserver's FAQ here: http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...?Number=531116 Please have your pretenders submitted by Sunday night and the game will begin! |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
what if everyone submits their pretenders before sunday, will the game begin early?
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Unfortunately, Llamabeast will be away until Sunday and is unable to start the game before then. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
On another note, I will be on the road home at the end of next week. I will be leaving on the 20th or 21st, depending on the weather, and will be able to play again on the 22nd or 23rd. I will try to get to a hotel with an internet connection but there is no guarantee.
Is there any way we can do a quick host, without a time limit, during that time? |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
With llamaserver, you can not do a quickhost without a time limit, IIRC.
He did mention a way of effectively reaching the same result. Set the timer for something ridiculous, like a fortnight (this American had to check wikipedia for that), and voila! Think a 336 hour time limit is good enough? |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun

Would this be acceptable with everyone else? |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Do you not have fortnights in America? I didn't know that.
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Technically, we _have_ them, but we don't use them much outside of literature. As an aside, we're not the only ones. The Spanish, Italian, etc... tend to use fifteen-day units.
Fiscally, we use bi-weekly, for some payroll systems. It's the same thing, but nope, I've never seen a fortnight used outside of classical (read, imported from europe, not Upton Sinclair's the Jungle, but Shakespeare's Hamlet) literature. |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Is everybody still with us? So far there's only been 3 pretender uploads.
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Coming, in a moment...
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Alright, everyone's in! Let's get this party started http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
I've pm'ed Llamabeast and he's going to have the server up and running by tomorrow night.
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
This game is now live! Good luck, everyone!
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
lmao random placement of nations I assume?
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Yup. What does imao mean?
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
laughing my *** off
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Oh okay. Erm, what does it mean in this context? You don't think the placement has come out okay?
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
The nation placement amuses me. 2 are very close (1 province buffer), 2 are a medium distance and the other 2 are all by their lonesome.
I'm not complaining it'll make things very interesting, very fast, but it's definately not how I envisionned the placement would pan out. |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Ah I see. Yeah, Dominions does not always do a great job of placing capitals evenly.
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Hmm, now that T1 is out is it possible to change the time it's due?
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
I will be away for the next 3 days. I hope to be able to make the turns during this time but I am not positive I will have access. I would really appreciate it if we could have a longer turn duration for the next turn or two.
Thanks. |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Yeah, I'll add 999 hours to each turn's timer until Jan 2nd. It'll still be quickhost though, so if everybody can get a turn in then the game will still go forward.
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Hah, so there *are* some Kohan-ners here!
I haven't found myself Ahriman's Gift so far but I possess the original Immortal Sovereigns and Kings of War. Of which I prefer IS more. At least the poor Haroun had decent armor there http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif Anyhow, too bad I couldn't make it to this game. Maybe next one. Dibs on Caelum in that one though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
I hope everyone had a pleasant new year holiday. The game will be resuming its normal 24 hour quickhosting cycle as soon as the next turn goes out.
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Would it be possible to make it 36-48hour? I don't think I'll have a problem with making 24hours, but on 24 hour I get the silly reminder emails.
On another note what do the crowns on the map represent? I thought it was everyone's start location but it appears that I was wrong. |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
They usually represent victory points but, because this game is not a VP game, they are mostly meaningless. Controlling them gives you a minor boost to your dominion in nearby lands, I think.
Edit: If they're bothering you, I can turn off the reminder e-mails, I think. |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
I was wondering how you thought you knew everybodys starting location, hopefully the positions are more evenly spread than you thought they were.
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
I notice that Yomi and Agartha are having trouble getting their turns in on time. Is everything ok?
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Yeah, I'm really pressed for time as I am moving to China at the end of this month. When I signed up for the game, I didn't really think too far ahead of time...
Anyways, I will continue to play my turns but will try to find someone to take my place shortly. Sorry about this guys. I should be settled in late February and, if you all start up another game around that time, I would gladly join you all. |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Excist appears to have vanished, so I am setting his nation of Agartha to AI control.
Edit: I don't know how to do that. I'll ask Llamabeast. |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
Can I request that the turns be changed to 48 hour quickhost as I am struggling to keep up with the current schedule.
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
I will second that. I will be traveling, beginning next week and will have a very difficult time making a 24 hour turn. I was going to find a replacement but, as I did not find anyone, I figured I should just continue.
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
The hosting interval has been extended to 48 hour quickhost.
|
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
C'tis has declared war on Tien Chi for the "crime" of having built a fortress on their border and recruited almost 10 terrifying Ichtyids! No matter the fact that the fortress had been under construction for several turns prior to their arrive on my borders. No mind that C'tis had signed a standard NAP with Tien, which they grossly violated. No relevance that their cowardly nation gave no prior warning or proper declaration of war prior to the invasion, as an honorable nation would have done. These affronts have convinced the Emperor that the backstabbing nation of C'tis must be annihilated, and hope that by exposing their foulness to the light, other fair and righteous nations will join our cause. We formally declare war on C'tis.
Additionally, the nation of Tien Chi hereby offers a 20 gem reward for any nation that conquers a C'tis castle, and a 5 gem reward for any nation that joins with Tien to scourge Khaldun of all treacherous C'tissans. Gem type is negotiable. |
Re: The Dominions of Khaldun
drama!
|
Re: Drama
I have removed the threat you posed to my borders and shot the scouts of mine that said you were building up an army of Icthyids. These were my main aims in this campaign, if I had known you would crumble so easily I would not have involved the other nations of this world.
I have no real intention to launch any more attacks if you are genuine about your noble intentions as I have been informed that there is a far greater threat than Tien'Chi or C'Tis in this world and I want it removed. I can aid your quest to rid the world of a greater evil if you wish to discuss a NAP with more clearly defined conditions than last time. I think this is best for everyone as it will give me time to build more forts so more you'll all be able to claim more gems once the greater threat is wiped out. |
Re: Drama
Unless you'd submit to returning the lands seized in your invasion and departing peacefully from the gates of my northern city, then it must be waaagh.
Waaaagh! Adellon |
Re: Drama
You do not wish to combat the true evil for the greater good? We will of course not leave the entire area that we have taken, however we may be persuaded to give you some land back.
You sounded so righteous earlier, I think it would be best for you to stick to your idea of being a force for good. C'Tis awaits your reply, the olive branch of peace in one hand and the marching drums of the great C'Tis armies in the other hand. I hope you make the right decision. |
Re: Drama
Mully,
We are primarily interested not in a nebulous "greater good", but avoiding death from all of the carnivorous lizards who have plagued our northern provinces in recent months. If the lizards invade our lands and occupy our castles and farmlands, then we need to fight them or starve soon thereafter. If it's all just a misunderstanding, then great! But offering peace after your thugs have taken up squatting in our lucrative farmland and northern castle is the offer of slavery, and a slow death. We've seen how you treat your allies, and have little confidence in the trustworthiness of C'tis towards what it perceives as a weaker neighbor. But even now, the long-suffering people of Tien are willing to compromise, and to let you prove your sincerity. We will overlook your mistaken attack if you withdraw our lands and castles immediately. If you want to you continue squatting on Tien's lands, however, my soldiers will fight to protect their homes. Adellon |
Re: Drama
Just to give you guys an update, I will be traveling over the next few weeks and may have trouble getting to my turns. So, if I miss any, that is the reason.
|
Re: Drama
I'm away for this weekend so can we delay hosting until tuesday please.
|
Re: Drama
Can I request a delay until monday evening for this turn. I'm really sorry for this but I'll be ok next week.
|
Re: Drama
Damn that was a bad turn to stall and it looks like Formoria benefited the most. Will any nations aid C'Tis against the Formorians?
|
Re: Drama
Very bad turn to stall. Attack the fomorians? That's like attacking a huggable care bear! Great big huggable, loveable,...pirates! Just wait till I get amber clans! :p
|
Re: Drama
Well, guys, I have returned from my vacation. I apologize if my lost turns have caused a big delay.
|
Re: Drama
Well, I am pretty much done for so I put it to computer controlled. There is not much more I can do at this point.
I wish you all good luck! Sorry I couldn't have been a better player... I wish I could have found someone to take my turns beforehand but it just didn't happen. |
Gems for sale, get your gems here.
And so we finally manage to wipe out the person who has stalled since turn 6.
On another note I'm interested in getting some nature gems. Preferably in a 1:1 swap for air or fire gems, I also have death gems to swap but I value those more. I'm also willing to forge things for a premium or purchase gems with gold. |
