How much Pd were there? I had for some stupid reason scripted my rangers to fire archers and there were nothing else than one jotun jarl to shoot. Hats off to the jarl too my rangers didnt hurt him a bit but luckily my prophet did with a well aimed smite. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif. Was a close call that my prophet didnt die for casting smite too much. In the end there were no fatigue left for meelee.

What happened to the turn? Seems like there was some kind of error.
The turn ended without warning and the status page and mail claims we are now on turn four. When I tried the turn file it was turn 15 as it should but a stale turn.

"Dear all,

Sorry about the bizarre e-mail you'll just have had from the LlamaServer - please ignore it and don't bother opening the attached turn file, since it's meaningless. Unfortunately you'll have to send in any 2h files for the current turn all over again - sorry!

Somehow something went wrong while I was starting some new games. It was the same bizarre something that happened a few weeks ago in fact - I have to look into this carefully. Basically the file with all the game details got changed to how it was a few weeks ago - despite the fact that no backups of the file are kept! Bizarre.

If you see any bizarre behaviour (most probably old games being reincarnated or new games disappearing), please let me know. Admins - any changes you've made, e.g. to hosting intervals, will have been undone.

To reiterate, what most of you will have to do is just resend your 2h file for the current turn.

Thanks and sorry again,

llamabeast"

Nevermind--it's a failed temperature sensor, nothing more. I'm getting an overtemp alarm on a drive at room temperature. Fortunately the game wasn't on that drive.

R'lyeh is the scourge of the sea, and must be destroyed lest the insanity spread! I hearby call on all nations to strike down the source of the madness and drive the abominations back into the sea. Man has taken the first steps, and I implore all other sane nations to do the same. Look to the sea! Madness is rising!

Well, you guys ganged up on me and stopped the undead threat. I lost most of my army this round and the only thing I could hope to do would be bottle up in the capital fort until I was dominion-killed. There's no point in that, you can fight the AI for the remains of my territory.

I might have been able to deal with you despite the outcome of that battle but I was also being hit by an even larger force from the north. I would say the forces currently in my lands are at least 4x as powerful as what I have left.

Now wait just a damn minute here! Okay, I'll admit that Pangaea snuck up on me and took a couple of provinces, but how in the nine hells did he put up a fortified city next to mine in one turn? Not to mention he snuck past my capital with a good size army in the first place and I didn't find him until he attacked the next province over.

Maybe I just suck, I don't know.

that´s a very good event. I got a fortress in an other game but was only a simple fortress.

Loren, I played SP Ermor and probably you should have got a bishop with you. they cast protection from magic +4 to all your undead in the battle. Only you have to spend 23 gems (two times if you are facing 2 fronts).

Are we going to have a brake during holidays? On monday we are off to the countryside to spend a hilarious christmas with no computers around that have dom in them.
So I can send my last turn on tuesday 23th. We should be back on sunday 30th so that us ok for me to get back on the game. So if you could stop the timers for christmas it would be cool but if not I shall find a sub.

Yeah, there should have been a good caster at that battle. I didn't expect that battle yet--I was bringing in my prophet. I thought I had enough force there to keep you from attacking before I was ready.

I probably won't be able to play 24/12 and 25/12 and between 29/12 and 1/1. I could try to find a sub but I think it will be difficult to find one during this week.

Well, that's really not a big deal to him. Having played R'lyeh quite a bit, scouts are something you are glad to be rid of, and insanity doesn't affect your units enough to cause you any real stress, just annoyance. The real problems is R'lyeh's ability to generate hundreds of freespawns each turn (some of them quite good, unlike Ermor's). If he's allowed time, we are all toast.

Indeed. Although I'm sure you didn't know, this is the one thing players say to me that most fills me with misery. It's very easy to change yourself to AI (go to one of the menus on the right - preferences or something - then it's at the top), but really quite hard work for me or a game admin to do it.

Re: Suricate - pbem LA newbie game - (OPEN)

I'll try to do a summary of the game. At least the parts I actually know about. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Wars
Ulm and I (Utgård) have had some border skirmishes but no real battles.

The undead war
Tien Chi and C'tis attacked Ermor and killed his armies. I joined in on a corner but didn't see much action. It seems like they are mopping up what's left of the evil undead horde right now.

Hordes from the deep
R'lyeh took the coastal provinces close to Man's capital and Man attacked R'lyeh in an attempt to conquer them. I don't know any details about the battle were the cyclops of Man was killed but it seems like Man got beaten bad. R'lyeh is now fighting a weak AI Man.

The fall of Maginon
I've very little details about this war but it seems like pangea crushed Maginon with very little effort.

Power situation
This is basically just taken from the score graphs.

Land
I'm largest in size but most of my land is very poor. The second largest one is Pangaea who is by far the richest with R'lyeh holding a good second place.
Pangaea and R'lyeh also have and insane amount of forts, 6 and 5 respectively, with the rest of us having 3.

Magic
It seems however that Pangaea have sacrificed research in order to gain all his lands and wealth. He's holding the last place in research but do have a very high gem income.
Tien Chi dominates research but R'lyeh also have a very high spot.

I can fill in the details on the Man/R'lyeh battles:

- My Cyclops was killed due to R'lyeh reinforcing a territory with a large number of freespawns and Illithids supported by his Wyrm on the same trun I attcked it with a small conquering force of Defenders/Longbowmen/Heavy Cav supported by my Cyclops.
- R'lyeh then took that same force and conquered two more territories while I retreated to my castle to assemble a larger force.
- I then attacked R'lyeh with a force consisting of 25 or so Grand Thaumaturges, approx 50 longbowmen, 20 defenders, and 20 Heavy Cav. I was summarily crushed.

Unfortunately, I was not able to research thunder strike before R'lyeh began their land conquest, so my best offensive spell was lightning bolt. As R'lyeh essentially destroyed 80% of my army as well as 50% of my research force, there was no point in dragging out the inevitable.

Thanks for the history of the game, it sounds like an interesting game so far =))

I've also taken the opportunity to set the timer to 10 days, here is how it works.

This current turn was due for the 23, since torin might have some trouble i've extended it already.
When this turn is done (i guess around the 24) next turn will be due 10 days later, so likely the 3th of january.

quickhost is still on so if u manage to play a few more turns is even better =)

Someplace from the 3-7 january the timer will be setted back at 26 hours

The jab was not required. We are all newbies here, and hindsight is always 20/20. I focussed initial research on Wind Guide, which I DID get, and used to good effect. Had R'lyeh chosen to expand in say, Pangea's realm first, I'd still be in this game, and have Thunder Strike well before the need to attack R'lyeh came about. As it happened, my expansion was blocked on the north and east by nations I had NAP's with, and so my only expansion option was to hit R'lyeh (which was going to happen anyhow, sooner or later).

Your smart-@$$ed comment was definitely not appreciated. Luck DOES play into this game, and I don't think I made any seriously bad moves. I was simply over matched by a Uber-nation well before I had opportunity to research the spells I needed to defang them.

I had no intention to attack you, I only took 3 indi provinces (near my capital) and my pretender was already back in my capital when you attacked me.
But all your posts sound like I'm the bad aggressor.

You attacked with a small force while not ready with your research and got beaten. Thats all, no "Uber-nation" or something like that.

You attack me (and everyone else) with your domain, and your expansion that close to my capital really left me no choice. Besides, with R'lyeh, the longer I wait, the worse it ends up for me. Say whatever you want, R'lyeh IS an Uber-nation, and my only option was to attack while you were small enough that there was at least a snowball's chance of making an advance.

Oh, and that "Small force" consisted of pretty much everything I was able to produce from turn 1. I didn't lose much to anything else. That many mages is only considered small at that point in the game when you are going against R'lyeh or Ermor.
