Re: OT - Mindless Rant

OK, I live in Washington (state not DC thank god). Everyone I know calls it by name. Not soda, not pop, but Coke or Pepsi or 7up ect... We have Dr Pepper and Mr Pib. So why not call it what it is. This is true of both the eastern and western side of the state.

Spokane Washington is 1 degree north of Toronto (or is that 2), I think it's 1. Lived in Memphis for a while and don't remember what it was called there. Must have been a mis-spent youth, memory loss and all that. Anyway you would be surprised how many people there thought Oregon was on the Canadian border so I guess that makes Washington part of the 'Great White North'.
Just to get things really wound up I want to ask a question just for my northern friends in thier igloos, "If americans eat canadian bacon, what do canadians eat?" And yes I do have friends in Canada, my daughter is spending the summer in Toronto.

On the pop/soda issue all I have to say is whoop ***. Now that is a soda. 4 times stronger than jolt.

Canadians when eating the lovely Canadian Bacon like to call it backbacon. As opposed to the other bacon which is just long strips of fat with some pig attached on every other piece.

Since I live near Lake Ontario, my day goes like this. Get up at 3 AM ( Metric time ) and clean the igloo. Get the bob sleigh team ready and hunt some wild pig so I can make back bacon. Drink 10 bottles of Canadian and cook back bacon. Complain about america as I travel to the AMC, MCdonalds, Walmart, Gap (________, Place chain store here).
Release that I have not had my timbit fill for the day and spend the rest of the day at a coffee shop eating timbits and drinking coffee. Then it is back to the igloo.

All in all it is a nice day.

Also, Toronto is on the same latitude as Southern Oregon/Northern California...

Tesco: What, no hockey games on a perma-frozen lake? And what about polar bear hunting? And you call yourself a Canadian....

Ponder this: Scientists already knew that matter is 98% empty space. After they figured out the structure of protons, they determined the remaining 2% is mostly made up of... well, nothing. Who says God doesn't have a sense of humor?

ah, the timing of it was so close to my punctuating remark about "soada." You should have taken credit for it anyhow, it was clever.

Now we have two kittens. Have you ever tried to sleep a peaceful night with TWO kittens? Dosen't happen.

Is this the same guy that caved in to the remote possibility of terrorism and canceled they Y2K festivities in Seattle? Not even caving into terrorism, or the threat of such. the REMOTE POSSIBILITY OF! In other parts of the world, the marketplace that is bombed tuesday is open for business on wednesday. So while the rest of the world celebrated in peace, Seattle sat it out. Man, the people should have risen up in protest over that one.

Same guy, or different guy?

The polar bears beat me every time at hockey.

My dad told me that their are two important lessons in life.

1. always keep your stick on the ice

2. If you don't shoot the puck your not going to score.

Not as good as the 3 Conan got but what can you do......

Yesterday I was at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Good fun that was. ( Have Relatives over from Ireland )

They call their pop ==== fizzy.

So their is a 4th name for pop/soda/coke debate.

On the metric time. It is made up. I hope. ( taken from Rick Mercer talks to Americans on This hour has 22 minutes ).

Must go now. Have a good day everyone.

Metric Time:

100 seconds in a minute
100 minutes in an hour
10 hours in a day

A metric second is 86.4% as long as a standard second. (100000 metric seconds vs. 86400 standard seconds in a day)

Now, if someone can come up with a metric Calendar....

That would be easy, as long as you don't get hung up on making it fit with the seasons and all that. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif

Edit: I just realized, Se4 DOES have a metric Calendar! Instead of twelve months in a year, we have ten turns in a year. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon10.gif

In Canada Glatic Standard Time stands for something else.

GST. or the Great Seperation Tax.

I always thought the 4th sign was when the leafs won the stanley cup or Kiddminster wins the F.A., League, and Euro's, or when the Bills win the SuperBowl.

Speaking of mindless rants...

A pet peeve of mine is.

People who call in request radio shows and request songs that are in heavy rotation.

Quikngruvn August 3rd, 2001 04:55 AM

Re: OT - Mindless Rant

Related peeve: radio stations that play the same fifteen songs over and over again.

And now for something completely different, my top five driving peeves:
1) People who run stop signs.
2) People who turn out right in front of me and go reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaal slow.
3) People who don't turn left when the light turns yellow.
4) People who follow five feet behind me on a two-lane road when it's obvious I can't go any faster.
5) People who stick the nose of their car out into the road when trying to turn.
