Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Any word on when the new patch is going to come out?
|
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
It's sort of finished, but JK has been busy lately. So it has received some proofreading in the wait. I hope it can move to a quick betatest within the upcoming days.
|
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Yay for news.
Really looking forward to seeing the changes in the patch. |
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Having seen the descriptions during the course of the proofreading, I'm positively salivating over this patch. Just on that basis, it's going to be great, especially for Ulm, but also for LA Abysia. So two of my favorite nations (Ulm and Abysia) both getting new/improved stuff and even though I don't know what it is (except in general terms) or how it plays, this going to be sweet indeed...

Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Yah for the new patch. Bring it on! My black steel needs some polish.

Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Umm can you delay that patch for a couple of weeks, I am in a MP war with Ulm http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Like ulm needs any more boosting!
EA Ulm sacred troop is way underpriced and is probably the second best unit in the game. For 25 Gold 17 Resource. Sacred, F/M Survival. Great Sword. 12 Prot. 13 At 17 def if I remember right? Bleh! |

Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
The reason is they live in fear of hostile magic and when you fear something so strongly it's more likely to have an effect. Look at the psychological power of vodoo.

EA Ulm != MA Ulm EA Ulm != LA Ulm The Ulm changes are to Middle and Late Era, EA Ulm is not getting boosted. What gave you that idea? |
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Not everyone knows, or reads, the progress page at http://ulm.illwinter.com/dom3/dom3progress.html . Lately, most people have just gone "wow, Ulm's going to get better, it's about time" without bothering to mention what eras are affected. Here's the list of changes that affect Ulm.
* MA Black Priests. * Black Halberds. * Iron Darts, Iron Blizzard. * Iron Angel. * Anathamant sprite. * Black priest sprite. * Ghoul Guardians no longer sacred, but got black halberds instead. * Ulrich got sacredawe, lost sacred status, recieved makemonster (ghouls) and got a slight stat boost. * Lord Guardian got sacredawe. * Plate armors sligtly altered in the direction of Arralens thoughts. Plate of Ulm more so. Black plate inf descr slighy altered. |
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
I gave EA Ulm a second look and I think I like the nation. Nice enough variety of troops, some stealth, the kind of magic I like. Antlered shamans offer decent research capabilities - nice price, holy, 6 RP, young, and randoms. Archers are also quite good.
|
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Endo: Are you sure the Anathemant is for Ulm and not Abysia?
|
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Anathemant should be Abysia.
|
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
EA Ulm was pretty fun for me in single player; lots of solid troops and good magic variety (Warrior Smiths get a wide variety of randoms), although the lack of any high paths is kind of a problem. (I also had fun with the White Bull sc...I've also seen it for Pan, anyone know if any other country can have it?)
It is sorta weird imo that all the EA Ulm units have high morale, while the MA ones have just average morale...(Most of the LA units have average morale, too, but after "the Malediction" that makes conceptual sense). Hopefully the Black priests will be able to cast Sermon of Courage, which will help some. |
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Anathemants are Abysian, there are some interesting changes to LA Abysia as well from the sound of it. Which is all to the good, it has been a bit weak in its current form.
|
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Oh, certainly, I figured it was LA Abysia. My favorite Abysia, actually.
On another note, has anyone ever seen this event? 'One of your gardeners has been feeding the royal gardens with blood of animals and convicted criminals. Unaware of the dangers to himself, he entered the tainted garden and was killed buy [sic] the awakened vines. For a week no one dared enter the gardens, but then a strange wanderer of the woods arrived and said he would tame the garden should he be made royal gardener. Now, he and the dark vines serve you with the strength of the bloodied wild.' Gives you a Bloodhenge Druid and a Dark Vines. As I am playing Bandar Log, this was most welcome. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
That is very cool. Both the description and the units.
I've always been disappointed that the Blood Druid provinces let you recruit normal Druids, not Blood Druids. |
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Bring on the scale spread bug fix and LA Abysia love, I say! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I don't even know what that stuff means!! It -must- be good!!
|
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
I really would like to know when the patch is expected. I am
basing my strategy on Tartarians in a game that has reached turn 67. I hope I do not end up with dozens of mad gods running amok amongst my troops. |
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
All i can say is Ba'al sounds tough

Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
I'm thinking it has something to do with Dominion. The most obvious answer is that it's related to insanity, but we hardly need a whole new ability to reflect that-and I don't see a reason for them to turn into Eaters of the Dead-and insanity already can make a unit basically uncontrolled. I think it *might* be that they'll decide to try to become Pretenders, themselves, because their souls are too fractured for Pretenders to fully control them. So you may suddenly find Tartarians turning against you and hurting your Dominion. Also, it may be a specialized "anti-magic" ability that protects them from certain spells that would normally affect a being's soul in the game. It's possible that the pieces of their "shattered soul" may find their way into opponents, turning them to your cause or making them insane. Or maybe it works like a disease, only a "disease of the soul" that gradually warps and mutates the Tartarian's essence, adding or subtracting abilities and defects.

Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
I think that it turns Tartarians into croutons. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

So that's why they go so well with tomato soup.

Tastes like chicken!

Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Uncontrolled Tartarians sounds awesome.
|
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
The word "Malik" means "King" in the absolute sense, and is one of the names of Allah.
Ashdod is a city in Israel, formerly part of the Kingdom of the Philistines. Melqart is something of a hero/king/demigod, of Tyre, connected by the Greeks to Heraklius (Hercules). Hannibal (the Carthaginean general) was a worshipper of Melqart. |

Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
And Dr Doom!
|
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
Well, in our defense, we do have a Dr Praetorious.
|
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
But he sounds old, in the same way as Praetorian guard sounds like the Old guard. We need Cool, not Old! The Cool Guard.
|
Re: Semi-Official Drool Over the Next Patch Thread
I agree. Obviously, we should clone Dr Praetorious and combine the clone's genes with that of a radioactive chamelion, and Summer Glau-who is young, beautiful, and cool-not to mention fascinatingly flexible, in order to create a freakish mutant of ultimate coolness.
I call that mutant...Dr Proctopus! |
