Yes yes yes! that was the problem! I was missing the file parganos_llama_deadseas.map. Thanks so much for the help guys, I'll get my 2h file sent in to llama server asap. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Anyone else having a problem download and unzip the new attachment. The old one seems like it might have been screwed up.

It seems to have fixed secretpersons problems.
By the way after this turn we will switch to 24 hour hosting for the 1st 10 turns. After that if people need more time just post here.

That is great news, good not to lose someone in the 1st turn

zenphos April 14th, 2008 10:48 AM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Why? How many turns do you like to give before you "lose" someone wookie? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Just curious- Is this game set up as quick host?

sum1lost April 14th, 2008 05:14 PM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

I think it is quickhost.

Quick suggestion for everyone: If you're the last person to turn in your turn, wait a few minutes for it to process, and then turn in the next turn as well, since it will arrive soon after.

zenphos April 15th, 2008 05:33 AM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Just a reminder, you get 48 hours to send in the first turn, after that the game will host every 24 hours whether you have your turn in or not.

FrozenFalcon April 18th, 2008 07:41 PM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Sorry for the stale, I actually did the turn but forgot to send it. Hopefully this will not happen again. (I was working the whole time between the reminder post and the rehost).

sorry just realised still waiting on Machaka

lebarjack April 19th, 2008 03:35 AM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

I had to request a resend of my turn. and the mail took longer than usual to arrive in my mailbox.

Every one seems awake and playing, 5 players have already played their turn 8 ^^

zenphos April 19th, 2008 11:58 AM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

I wouldn't worry too much. At some point everyone will look at the server list and realise everyone is waiting on them.
The important thing to remember is not to make them wait twice in a row. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
I am playing a different game at the moment were some guy is about to get triple teamed because he is always the last guy to submit his turn. In fact he would get quad teamed except the 4th guy can't get his armies in to fight.

The forest lords of pangea have heard rumor speak of some false god's spies stirring up the smallfolk. The lords of the forest consider this to be encroaching on their domain, and are saddened by the aggresion of the younger races.

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Could I please get the game suspended from 14:00GMT Wednesday 23 April until 14:00GMT Saturday 26 April as I am going away for 3 days.

Please let me know if this is ok as I will not have access to a computer in this time

sum1lost April 23rd, 2008 01:52 PM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

After much studying and research, the Oracle in the Woods, Qiagen, the replicator of DNA, has discovered that of the kingdoms of the land, only 3 (Man, Ermor, and Ulm) have access to spies or bards that can use the "cause unrest" ability. Of those, only one (Man) is to be found anywhere near our lands. Therefore, Qiagen has ordered the forest folk to spill forth and fall upon the kingdom of Man.

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Hosting has now been reset to 24 hours again. After this round of turns the change will take place. So although it says turns are due in by tuesday the game will host as soon as all turns are in and then it will be 24 hour hosting.

zenphos April 27th, 2008 10:45 AM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Well things seem to be heating up. Armies poised all around and fights about to break out. Very exciting times.

Just to let everyone know, if you start to struggle to get your turns in, they should be starting to become a little more complex now, just post or PM me for an extension.
Also I would like to keep 24 hour hosting for as long as possible but feel free to post here if you want it changed.

Out of curiosity, who is everyone fighting? I know that ulm and I just took out Man, and Vanheim is putting the hurt on C'tis, but who else is at war?

Vanheim is merely getting his units all diseased for now while he sieges my capital.

Ha! Diseased! We're just putting some nice pustles to scare you green frogs out of your caves!

No, honestly: We thought that if we are all green in the face we might try to sneak into your fortress.

I am requesting the game be delayed from
14:00 GMT Friday 9 May , Until 14:00 GMT Monday 12 May as I am going away

Thanks

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

In future can people please PM me if they need a hosting postponed. Or post to the board more than a day in advance.
I do check my PM's quite regularly but do not check the threads every day. Especially if there is not active posting by the anyone, e.g. this is the first post in 7 days.
I only just spotted this and if I had gone to bed, like I probably should have, I would have missed it and poor old wookie would have staled.

Wookie1977 May 13th, 2008 06:22 AM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Could we change the hosting to 48 hours now? The turns are starting to take longer to work out

zenphos May 14th, 2008 08:21 PM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

48 hours is no problem. As long as there are no complaints from anyone else.

zenphos May 16th, 2008 10:32 PM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

LeberJack is away for a few days. Upon his return, basically shortly after he submits his next turn, I will switch the hosting time to 48 hours.

Hello, all. I will be away from June 4th to June 10th. I posted a looking for subs thread, but am having trouble finding one. If I can't find one, any way we could accomodate this by changing the hosting time? (I might have internet access intermittently.)

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Well played to Ermor and Vanheim! Now to see if I have a chance in hell of repelling 400 extremely good warriors from my castle.

EDIT: My bad, make that almost 500, and 10 leaders. Ow. And ermor has my main army pinned down.

Jonarryn has permanently replaced sum1lost as Panagaea. He is not a noobie but I figure after the brutality that has swept the lands neither is anyone else anymore. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Current situation stands, I think anyway.
Ermor, Vanheim and Abysia at war with Panagaea.
Machaka at war with Ulm.
If this is wrong I am happy to stand corrected.

sum1lost July 3rd, 2008 08:02 AM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Abysia is also at war with Ulm.

Vanheim is gone by now... all reamaining ritches have been routed to our stanch allies, Ermor. Good luck in the following war!

Hi Guys,

Great game but Ulm has gotten the better of me, I think, unless he stales the next 7 turns in a row.
I will keep playing to the end but someone else may need to step in as admin.
I am happy to keep doing it if no one wants to otherwise if you are interested PM me.

Zenphos! I remember fondly the days that you merrily tromped your god around my capital with your big spiders. You will be terribly missed.

In other news; the Ermorian press would like to point out that this Jonarryn fellow is the jerkiest jerk ever.

PS. In all seriousness though, that was a great way to handle my big army. I can tell I'm going to learn quite a bit from fighting you.

May I ask what JonArryn pulled? I'm curious now!

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Earthquakex3 + Foul Vapors = lots of dead thaumaturgs = lots of undead and living statues dissolving without magical leadership.

Actually, the foul vapors was a bit overkill, and didn't last long after the caster died from the earthquake. Oops. Anyhow, now I just have to deal with Ermor's bajillion other troops and all will be well =)

johnarryn July 16th, 2008 12:45 AM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Also, can we change the turn timer to 72 hours? I'll still try to get the turns in in 48, but it would be helpful.

johnarryn July 23rd, 2008 11:31 AM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Hey folks. Due to some personal matters, I am forced to withdraw from all the games I am currently playing. I've chosen to set myself to AI (which I normally hate to do) rather than look for a substitute because I don't want to delay the game any longer than I already have. Thank you for your understanding.

lebarjack July 23rd, 2008 01:12 PM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

I really think that setting yourself to AI without letting us finding a sub will simply kill this game...

zenphos July 24th, 2008 05:31 AM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

It has been done already. Unfortunately I cannot now replace him with someone else. Which I guess leaves Ermor, Ulm and AI Pangaea to fight it out.
If people want I am happy enough to see if Llamabeast has the ability to unAI pan and let us find a replacement.

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

If there is no solution, I guess we will have to give up the game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/fear.gif

See if Llama can undo the AI would be the best bet

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Well this sort of stinks. I was really enjoying the battles with you John! You have my best wishes and I hope that everything works out.

Now, I'd prefer to not give up the game, considering how much fun it's been so far. Is there a way for Llama to start the game from the turn before Pan went AI?

If Pan has to stay AI, then I'd happily keep the game going. Hell, I can dispell his nasty globals so that we can commence with the eating. I was only not dispelling them because I figured they were causing Ulm more trouble than myself http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif.

lebarjack July 27th, 2008 05:10 AM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

Well, if you think it will be fun, I agree to continue the game.

But I don't find really fun awakening some morning and realizing your allies, with whom you had a 6 turn NAP, suddenly turn in a bloodthirsty AI who immediately starts to attack you.

Pangea's globals weren't a problem for me until he turned AI and began to attack me.

llamabeast July 28th, 2008 04:26 AM

Re: Empires rising MA game for newish players

You can now roll back the game using a new admin option. So you want to do something like:

- Roll back one turn
- Change e-mail address of johnarryn's nation to the sub's address
- Get sub to send in a turn
- Force hosting

After rolling back, it will look like no-one has sent in a turn, but in fact all your 2h files from last turn will be there and will be used. This is actually handy - none of you should send in a new turn - having seen the future, it would be distinctly dodgy. So you will be able to see that no-one but the new sub sends a new turn in.

I hope that made some sense. It's hard to explain clearly! But anyway, the point is it can all be done.
