Well, I guess if you're worried about retreating you could equip your pretender with a Slave Collar. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

(I thought pretenders and prophets had Morale 30, anyway. Is this not the case when they fight Doom Horrors, or does Fear override Morale 30?)

Steal? THEY must steal ^^

Yeah after playing a game with a nation I won't need this, but that doesn't help me when I start. (What paths are available to my mages? what units are sacred? What kind of commanders/scouts do I have? What are my unit's strengths? What are capitol only builds?)

[...]My mage has found a gem producing site by spell X. On a large map I now have to find my way to the nation screen and find the province and then mouse over what that site is. Ordering that province list would be a start. Hypertext from the message list would be even better. [...]

Repeat build - setting a province to recruit the same units each turn until you change it.
Repeat forge - as above, would be a great time saver with some of the mass produced items especially.
[...]
Battle reports - More detail on the units present and numbers of each type killed, not just overall numbers. Watching every battle is time consuming, having enough summary information would reduce the number we need to watch. Also when capturing a fortress or an assassination fight, no detail is given at all in the sense of a normal battle.

I agree with those. Actually, the best thing the game could use are time-savers like monthly forging and building, which should be easy and nice to do.
Second place, but I understand it could be very time consuming for the programmers so I don't think we will never see it, is the easier approach to nations for new players SsSam was talking about. As we know, the most of the winning chances come from creating an appropriate pretender + focusing from the very start on a research strategy. So, a much deeper "nation overview initial window" showing recruitables and national summons would be GREAT - ESPECIALLY PRINTABLE ^^ - everyone could use it together with the grimoire for building his strategy even before the very game begins.

For the other comments - as well as the title of the thread about "stealing something from other fantasy games" (i know it's prolly at least a bit ironic ^^) - well... I find Dom3 extraordinary this way - i don't think adding something else (like further forging possibilities)would make the game better than it actually is - and other "fantasy games" SHOULD STEAL A LOT FROM DOMINIONS 3 TO BECOME A LITTLE DEEP (well, actually i hope nobody steals nothing 4 real ^^)

Peace everybody

Morale 30 just means you aren't very likely to retreat. It has no special properties beyond that.

Yes it does. The game treats it as unbreakable morale, so it won't target spells like Panic, Terror etc at units with morale 30.

Yeah, I think morale 30 units will never break unless the total hp of their side falls below 25% of the starting total.

PLEASE no menu-handled diplomacy. There is not a game which has it which I have not abused horribly. Dominions is just about perfect in diplomacy IMHO. Im MP games it allows for the maximum amount of creativity and realism. And in Solo play it is usable but not abusable. (I love to make Herald Lances and Wineskins then send them to the AI bordering Ermor.)

A save system.

Lots of games of many genres have one, they're awesome. Pretty cool in D3 too. Too bad the only form it exists in is a mod that explodes if you play the game in fullscreen mode.

What are you on about? There is no diplomacy in SP. There's a degree of AI behaviour anticipation, in that you can fluff up your army size statistic or PD up your borders,.. but there's no usable diplomacy whatsoever. And as for not abusable,... just send the AI a load of bane venom charms.

Re: Morale 30 - have people actually tested that it's unbreakable, won't be hit by panic etc? I've never noticed it doing anything special.

Yes. There were some bug reports caused because somebody thought some units were bugged for not casting panic against a morale 30 unit despite being in range and KO confirmed that mor 30 is considered unbreakable.

It depends on if you play RPG or not. in RPG its still a diplomatic action even if the AI doesnt use diplomacy back.

And the AI diplomacy to other AIs is definetly a large factor in SP games that use it.

Ahhh I thought we had fixed all those. I should run some tests on bane-charm

The "saves" are basically linux mode (which the game is created on). The ports to more "user friendly" hand-holding systems such as windows and mac tend to lost it.

But there are quite a number of saves available. Not just some mod. I think Ive made 3 different versions available myself.

Let us know what your OS is and what you mean by "save" and we can probably help you out.

The ones that come to mind are:
shortcut-icon
bat file
python program
java

and saves that come to mind are:
save of the game you are entering
save of the game you are playing each turn
multiple back-saves of game you are playing each turn
save of all games every time you start dominions 3
save/restore (a desktop icon to take you back into the game you are playing)

A few cutscenes, like an opening one at the beginning of the game, would be nice.

Re: What could we steal from other fantasy games..

Hmmm, cutscenes. Maybe someone could make a movie out of the LOLCats thread? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I don't generally like the LOLCats meme, but some of the Dominions-related humor in that thread is actually quite funny to me.
