Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game - Running

Some nations find ocean warfare to be difficult and a huge investment in gems that don't contribute to the rest of their warfare. This makes it possible to defeat nations lodged in the water without having to fight on those terms.

With Ry'leh not present, the only reason Atlantis has to go in the water anyhow is to increase their magic diversity. I think thier underwater mage is only a few resources and so this shouldn't hinder them in this capasity.

Besides, water provinces still provide a means for some people to transport their armies to avoid bottle necks. The french have a great advantage that requires the water provinces only be their and not conquered.

Edit: Hello Bogarus. It cold here too, but that's because it is the middle of winter.

Oh, woe is Mictlan, whose hired mercenary Dante upped and left us for the pretty face that is Agartha.

Here we are, attempting to hold back the legions of zombies on our oddy-knocky, while the dominion of the dead creeps forward and poisons our lands, and our efforts are undermined by Dante's lack of loyalty. Well, Dante, when the ghouls of Ermor feast on your flesh and the T-virus spreads through your cells, don't come looking to Mictlan for sympathy!

So says Hunter of Mictlan.

Damn Knights. I had to send Kali in to take them out. Well, anyway, that is done.

Marignon if finished with it's expansion. We await Ermor now, or, if he does not come to us, we will move to his lands in time. We should not need corridors through our friends to accomplish that.

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game - Running

After numerous scouting reports, Ermor appears to be incredibly weak. This, of course, is incredulous to me, but it appears to be a fact.

Lacking Ermor as an opponent, Marignon shall just sit and wait for another opponent to manifest. We are still friendly to all other nations, and may just quietly bow out of the game, since we are no longer needed.

Oh, and Bah Humbug on you Ermor. You should have done much better. You are LA Ermor for god's sake!

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game - Running

Mictlan knows not to count its quetzals before they hatch! Ermor still has a huge undead army ready to burst forth at any time from its citadel of doom.

But the spirit of Zetacosta guides the armies of Mictlan, and when Ermor has zigged, we have zigged with them. Likewise when they have zagged, Mictlan zagged too.

Zetacosta willing, we will prevail, in peace and freedom from fear, and in true health, through the purity and essence of our natural fluids.

But if Mictlan should fail in our quest, then we beseech Marignon to save the world from the undead horde.

Hunter of Mictlan

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game - Running

And so it did come to pass. That there was a great battle outside the citadel of Ermor!

And there was much gnashing of teeth, and stomping of boots, and rolling of terrible eyes, and so forth.

And the Army of Ermor was vast indeed, and the earth shook beneath the weight of the dead.

But the Jaguars of Mictlan did not flee, or faint, or decide they would rather be doing something a little less dangerous like perhaps dancing or singing.

The armies clashed, and horsemen were toppled, and wounds were given, and wounds were received, and there was much suffering and dying and blood and bits poked out and such stuff.

And in the end, the Ermorian leaders did pack up their bags and flee, for they were smitten with fear and dread. But the mindless horde did not care, and fought on. And lo! They did not perish. For the immortal Queen of Death has no fear, and she did remain on the battlefield. Curse her! Curse that Queen!

And in the end all the army of Ermor was slain. And all the army of Mictlan was slain, except for some lucky bastards that took off right around the end.

And only two remained on the field of battle: the immortal Queen, and the Priest King Raoul. And Raoul did fling Vine Arrows at the distant Queen, and the distant Queen did throw some pebbles at Raoul. And so they flung and flung, and flung some more at each other, like some weird death match, until a rock hit Raoul in the head, and he died.

The End

Tally of the Dead
Mictlan: 4 commanders, 70 soldiers
Ermor: 17 commanders, 331 undead

Unfortunatly Ermor lost all mages and priests in this battle...

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game - Running

Ermor is weak in the very begining of the game as it needs research and castles to make their armies devistating. Mictlan also has the advantage of H3 priests who do a lot more banishment damage then H1 preists.

vfb October 16th, 2008 10:06 AM

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game - Running

Unfortunately for Mictlan, we are located in mountains, mountains, and more mountains. So we have been experiencing something of a financial crisis since the start! Directly to our south, there were some nice plains (not farms, though), but thanks to Ermor's dominion, there are only about 6 or 7 stubborn peasants living there now.

The LA Mictlan H3 priest is expensive, and comes without N. The LA Priest King is only N2H2, and that's what I've been forced to build to keep my troops fed, and battle the undead horde. H3 is so much nicer because of the MR malus and the extra AOE/damage. I can only dream of being able to afford H3 priests.

Of course, if I had waited, this situation would have only gotten worse, as Ermor's awake Dom10 pretender poisoned the land, and I had only limited opportunities to hunt for slaves to sacrifice to counter Ermor's dominion. Ermor's castle starting out on a VP only made it worse, of course.

In any case, Mictlan continues to fight the good fight, since there is no other choice but to fade away into the annals of history.

So speaks the Unchosen Prophet of Mictlan.

That was an incredible battle Hunter (of course we were there. would not have missed it). But yes, it appears Ermor is a goner now. Too bad you lost so many good units doing it.

Mictlan is happy to hear there were witnesses to the battle. For it is rare that two armies ever both fight down to the last man. (or woman!)

Yes, it was a significant loss for us, but we have reinforcements in the area, and the deathly dominion of Ermor will soon be but a memory. A horrible terrifying nightmare of a memory, that is!

It appears fortune has fallen on the fearsome evil ones.

Ermor's capitol now has at least 47 PD! That's 56 Longdead Horsemen, and about 100 Longdead Legionniares, 100 Londead Velites.

Not only that, now almost all the mercenaries are belong to Ermor.

The Unchosen Prophet of Mictlan says, "Yikes!"

The Council of Marignon has met late these many nights, and has come to a decision.

Though we remain the steadfast enemy of Ermor until they are finally destroyed, we have decided to name a new Enemy of the People. It is the undead worshiping foulness of Agartha. We cannot abide their heathen ways, and now declare Holy War on them. Unfortunately, we have no border with them, but we will support any nation that goes to war with them.

Oh no, Ermor built castles, two of them actually. I got one early, along with a temple of death. I think he may have just gotten a recent 3000 gold event or something. Woe to the living! :)

Actually this is my first time MP LA Ermor and I still dont know what to do.. though there is not much to do now that I lost everything.

I taxed every province 200 from the beginning and got a +1000 gold event somewhen.

If only all my mages and priests hadnt retreated in the major battle... did I say I've got my stealthy prophet in Mictlans lands ;) ?

What about you let me live and put me to good use against someone later;) ?

Yeah, I noticed the peasants were a little unruly as I marched through the lands. The ones that were still alive I mean, most of them were dead in the ditches.

Anyway, you're doing a great job of fighting it out to the end! Mictlan already nailed their colors to the mast, so there's no quarter gonna be given in what is known as the Great War of the East.

The Unnamed Prophet of Mictlan says, "Make my enemy brave and strong, so that if defeated, I will not be ashamed."

Hmm, who to root for? The blood thirsty savages who would extract and show me my various internal organs while I was still alive, or the swarms of undead who would kill me and turn me into one of their own and send me after my family and friends. You know, all things considered I vote for the millions of zombies and other undead. At least in that case I have a zombie plan I can enact.

You'd change your mind soon when the dominion of the dead spilt over your borders and your poor peasants started dying in droves.

And my vampires only eat however many of their mindless serfs they need to survive. It is a biological disorder, and while we aren't proud of it, and our god doesn't endorse their human eating habit, it is a necessary biological process.

Besides, we aren't casting aspersions, merely observing. Be assured, your barbarian hordes are beneath my good aristocratic countess' notice (at least up until they start tearing her castle down around her ears).

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game - Running

Killed outright? They should be so lucky!

The poor victims of Ermor first die a horrible wasting death, and then rise to walk the earth for eternity as zombie slaves in the evil undead legion. It is only the light of the prayers of our priests and the holy fires burning in our swords that saves these souls from their undeserved eternal damnation.

As for the sacrifices of Mictlan, those virgins come willingly to the Alter of Life to be joined as one with the spirit of the benevolent and holy Zetacosta.

So speaks the Unnamed Prophet of Mictlan.

Not yet, Ermor is holding on to their capitol. That's fine by me. The longer the capitol stays in their hands the longer it is out of the hands of a nation that doesn't need to expend their 15/turn death gems on national commanders.

It's a temporary thing, as our armies were elsewhere. It's no great victory to defeat a smattering of provincial defense. Very soon we will gut the frogs and make of them a delicious soup.

As for Mictlan, they are not our enemy, yet. If they actually manage to attack us with something other than words we'll reconsider.

Man sends their deepest apologies to the nation of Argatha. The shield that we aquired has been sitting in our storage center for some time. Apparently someone didn't fill out the shipping files properly and it never got sent.

We have taken measures to increase the bureaucracy. Now all shipment forms must be filled in triplicate and must be approved by a tier three magistrate.

Re: Collider - Small Late Age Game - Running

Indeed the armies of Bogarus were elsewhere, for though he claimed he would help fight the undead horde, he chose neutrality. Appeaser! So his armies were off frolicking about in the indy lands, collecting delicious soup ingredients, instead of battling the horrible and dreaded zombie legions.

Meanwhile Mictlan sacrificed the health of our troops, marching through desolate wastelands with only some small portions of smoked turkey to keep a few of our jungle warriors fed. Oh, how they pine to return to the fjords of our homeland!

So Bogarus reaps the harvest of a land that is still alive only because of the sacrifices we made. Well Bogarus, since our lands have become a desolate wasteland, we lay claim to your bountiful provinces, and we will confiscate your soup ingredients and cookery, and then let's see you make some soup!
