I just got notified by llamaserver that I had 6 hours to turn in my turn. So I re-sent it. Then I got notified that it was the wrong turn. Evidently I never got turn 4,so I requested llama re-send the turn. About 15 minutes ago, which is not very much time to wait, but we will see what happens.

Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
Introductions 1, Ch. 1
1. And the LORD Hubert spake wihin the dreams of Meshulam, a Kohen in His service, saying "Go south, and prepare the lands there for My coming in Glory". 2. So Meshulam made ready to journey south, and in His Mercy there were given unto Meshulam 4 mighty Children of Sheshai, for to protect him from those who opposed the LORD Hubert. And with Hubert's Blessing upon them, few indeed could withstand their righteous rage. 3. Many months did Meshulam journey, and many were those who resisted the Word of Hubert and were corrected in their ways. At last Meshulam came to the heathen land of Dunmere, and set about preaching the Word of Hubert. But something was amiss. 4. The people of Dunmere were mourning their dead, as though a plague had come. So Meshulam approached a widow, saying "Woman, wherefore art thy people weeping?" And the woman replied "Priest, we weep because our husbands and fathers are dead defending their land, and we have no priest to bury them." 5. Seeing their plight, Meshulam spake the Rites for the Dead over the bodies, and thus they could be buried to join their ancestors in purity, as was right and proper. 6. Meshulam journeyed onwards, heading ever South and West, and passing a field he saw a strange sight. It was like unto a group of the small men of these lands, but all were dressed alike in iron armour, and all carried shields as tall as they were. They wore red, and the points of their spears and javelins were as a bed of reeds, all swaying in unison. 7. Upon seeing the great stature of the four Children of Sheshai, the Red Men were consumed by fear and rage, and ignoring the words of their commanders they attacked. Their javelins fell like rain upon the Children of Sheshai, but their armour was mightily made and the Red Men's spearpoints were as no more than the thorns of brambles to them. With Hubert's blessing, the valiant soldiers of Ashdod fell upon the Red Men and put them to flight. |

Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
People of the world, nobles and commoners alike!
Heed the words of Glaah, Prophet of the Coming God. He has assembled the messengers and told us to make haste, to travel land and shores alike to the kingdoms near and far for what he knows is of dire consequence. In his citadel Orz of R'lyeh waits dreaming of unleashing his nightmares unto the world, dreaming to kill or enslave all that is sentient. But maybe you will not understand so he instructed us to tell you of the tragic fate of the Atlanteans. Many know that An S'horot travelled the seas to make his coming known. And there were many that did not know of him and when they heard the rumors of him aproaching they would take their knifes and spears and block his path. But when they saw him in his full glory they dared not to strike at him and they threw down the spears and attoned for their sins. Yet An'Shorot was troubled still, for he had another reason for his journeys. Know that the life of the Atlanteans are long, and they do not forget easily. And many still remember friends and relatives that had been lost when the Basalt City was shattered. An S'horot searched for them but never even found one. So he made his will known to Glaath and Glaath took some guards with him and travelled north. And finally Glaath found some shamblers, but the shamblers had not heard of the coming of god and they opposed him. He was able to drive them away, but the leader of his bodyguard was struck down and the soldiers refused to move on. And while he had to wait amidst the shamblers of the north he instructed them in the true faith. It was then when he heard the rumors that the shamblers who would swim north would often not be seen again. And so he snuk to the borders and spotted a large army composed of strange tentakled beasts and a large host of shamblers. Yet they could not no longer be called shamblers for their bodies had been deformed and their minds destroyed. Glaath returned and ordered the shamblers to prepare for war and he prayed to An S'horot so that he would know what Glaath had uncovered. Know that An S'horot will wage war against the Starspawn of R'lyeh to revenge the attrocities done unto his people. Should R'lyeh send messengers asking for aid do not listen for they have strange powers of manipulation. Do not be so foolish as to help them for they are strangers to this world and hold no love for it. Should R'lyeh survive and awaken to its full power you would be doomed as well as we. |

Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
Taken from the second letter to the Tritons
1.On the day of awakening the great lord arose and spoke thus to his honoured disciples "go forth my children and bring word of my ascendancy to the peoples of the sea and shore and know this I shall travel with you and protect you from the seas horror." 2. Hearing this the people were greatly enthused and taking up their turtle shields and forging their coral spears they began to gird themselves for war under the benign leadership of the Gods chief disciple Sushi. 3.And Lo did the the children strive mightily to bring word of the new god to the nations and peoples of the sea. 4. One day a scout from the army came across a strange pinkskin who claimed allegiance to the god of the shore and spake unto him "go to your lord and tell him that the ocean belongs to the lords children and that any interference there will be met with spears and blades" the god of the shore frightened by this agreed not to interfere. |

Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
Having travelled west for the better part of fall, and seeing the winter approaching fast, said the Gode of a small tribe of Jotun;
"Boys. Men. Fellow giants. Westward lies mountains, our sacred home. We must cleanse the small people standing in the way." Having so said, he and his fellow woodsmen moved along the river and out of the forest. Having left the comfort of the woods in hope of a colder mountainland, they arrived to the hills preceding the great mountain ravine. There stood a man, clad in black steel, holding a great blue tower shield. Murmurs spread through the ranks of the small humans when they saw the giants who approached. Suddenly, the man with the shield noticed the giants. He started screaming obscenities and shouting some gibberish about strange cyclops to the south, who was the rightful owner of the world. The Gode did not much care of such little words, for he knew the superiority of Ar'Kanak, Lord of the Hunt, over any puny cyclops. When the giants did not seem very friendly, they would have gladly left the little men alone, but like it usually is, the humans did not see reason in coexisting and proceeded to charge the giants. Drawing the power of The Lord of the Hunt, the giants proceeded in slaying every single of the petty humans who dared to attack them. The man with the blue shield commanded fire to fall from the skies upon the giants. "What is this trickery?" - one of the woodsmen shouted, being almost incinerated by the strange power. Swinging their greataxes in wide sweeps, dismembering and sending small humans flying with each hit, they finally approached at the small man who still kept on shouting obscenities at them, even though the fight was clearly over. The woodsmen surrounded the little man, who still did not see reason. Ar'Kanak was clearly favoring the giants this day, and the cyclops the small man so reverendly spoke of did not seem to answer his prayers. When the Gode made his way to the man of black steel, a new fervor arose within the small man. He tried striking the Gode, but the Gode was faster. The Prophet of the Cyclops was slain in one hit, almost split to half from the Godes longsword. "What shall we do now?" the woodsmen asked. The Gode did not answer, for he was mourning the dead fellows of his, two trustworthy jotun who fell that day. Finally, the Jotun Gode spoke. "Let there be a monument here. We shall build this land anew, without the strange powers of the human. They cannot be trusted. Let them live in their swamps, for we do not care about such places. The Skratti might, and we will obey should they say us to conquer them, but it is not a proper place for a giant to live. We shall proceed west to the mountains we came here for. Ar'Kanaks will shall be fulfilled." |

Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
Great were the woes and lamentation of people, when the remnants of the Honorary Expedition returned to the mighty capital of the Theurgian Council, hoping to make an atonement for their failures in the Ashdodian frontier.
The Council was shocked. Giants claiming to be relatives of the great gods themselves? How could anyone spread such heresy, with the leader of the Council being the only true god? Raging demons from the darkest pits of hell, they decided, only fitting for eternal hatred and revile. And so, theurgs decided to put an end to the malicious plans of the vile giants, lest the world burns in infernal flames. |
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
An S'horot, keep up the good work. As you can see, we Illithids are have a financial problems and cannot afford to buy food. Your timely delivery of tasty brains is highly appreciated. I have to say, brain in this batch is smaller than that of the last batch. Are you having problems finding those tasty shamblers? You know, we could have some kraken brain instead.
Oh, we forgot to say hello to the Lurker in the Depth. That's quite a long name, esp. for us illithids who have no mouth. Anyway, thank you for the feast. Your body parts shall be remembered. They are tasty. |
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
How bad is Ulm's situation? It looks like Coobe might be stalling out. If it looks like this turn will be a stale perhaps Ulm should go to AI or if the situation is salvageable, maybe a sub can be found? Whoever is putting the boots into him should know best.
|
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
Well, you should know how bad is Ulm's situation. :) You are the one who attacked him. Though I am surprised that he could not beat back a sacred rush with his guardians.
|
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
I don't share a border with Ulm...the nation of Mictlan is peaceful and only beats up on independants. The high priests have decided that diplomacy and love are the only ways to victory.
|
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
I am sorry. Your growth curve fits too well with his declination curve. Well, it must be those Jotun barbarians then. :)

Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
"This is an outrage!" The shout of Skratti boomed through the hall. "What do you mean, you did not attack the lands of the false faith!? No matter if they control swamps or whatever! They do not know of the Lord of The Hunt, one who brings us the Illwinter! They must be cleansed, purged, scoured from this world with niefel flames!"
The Gode flinched. He had only been sent to take the mountains, but happened to encounter some little men in black steel on the way, having to kill them in the process due their innate aggressiveness. Now the little men had set up a citadel in the bordering mountains between the land of Ulm and Jotunheim. "Hrmm..." the Gygja in the hall muttered. "They do pose us a great threat. We will send capable Jarls to their neighbors to see if they are with us, or against us. There's hot winds coming from across the mountains, the Ulm do not probably dwell there. Another nation must recide there, they might prove to be a valuable ally, if they listen to us." So it happened, that a few Jarls were sent across the mountain range. Rest of the Jotun society started to prepare for warfare. Guardians of temples agreed to help the local Jarls and Godes in their efforts, providing the great power of Lord of the Hunt to the war party. Axes were sharpened, mead drank, flesh of mountain boars roasted. Plans were laid, dismissed, accepted. The mountain castle must fall first. The mountains belong to the giants, not little men clad in black iron. Then it happened. The great power from the mountains descended. An'Karak had awoken in time to bless their campaign into the swamps and beyond. An'Karak himself leading the army, no one could possibly stand between the main force of Jotunheim and their target. The cool wind from the east blowing on their backs they set to march. The nation of Jotunheim had gone to war. |
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
Is coobe stalling because of in game problems or real life?
If its the latter I'd be for setting the game to 48h for a turn if it's not to late. But he's got his last turn in quite late the last time, too. |
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
I think it would be a fair statement to say that Coobe has a history of stalling out of games without a word. I don't know why, it doesn't make sense to me to do that in a close knit community like this.

Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
Since coobe has staled four times now should we look for a sub?
Or just set to AI? |
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
Opochtli stood up and wiped the blood from his hands...his ancestors would have flayed the skin from the bones of their vanquished enemies...decoration for the walls of the numerous temples. But those times were past and even if they hadn't been, these pitiful wandering barbarians hardly warranted better treatment than what the vultures would give them in a few hours. Finally after many battles the wandering tribes of the east had been united under the banner of Mictlan. Sad warriors, disorganized and leaderless had been put to the sword or pressed into the glorious servitude of the one true god. Far far from home Opochtli had seen wondrous things...the undead walked the earth wearing advanced armor and employing combined arms tactics, intelligent lizards the size of a full grown man emerged from foul swamps under a vapor of death. Despite their fearsome appearance, both these nations were diplomatic. With borders established Opochtli wished he could set about earning the love and servitude of Mictlan's newly conquered people. They would be properly prepared for the arrival of the one true god.
Unfortunately Opochtli would not be able to stay and preach to the slave masses. It had become obvious that the empire of Man would attack the soft southern underbelly of the empire. The priests had foreseen that it was only a matter of time. What was surprising though was that when the attack finally came, the banners of Man were not the only ones to strike. The forces of Avalon had allied themselves with the flesh eating spiders of Machaka; together they stuck all along the southern provinces. Thankfully the small defensive force that existed along that frontier folded with little resistance...With any luck the invaders would not be fully wiped out by the time his army arrived in the south...His time would not be wasted. Opochtli hungered for battle against a respectable opponent. He would prove himself in battle and become the chosen one in the eyes of Agronox. The thought of preaching with the giant skull of a hunter spider resting upon him as a crown brought a smile to Opochtli's mouth. Perhaps he would craft a spider skin suit and ride around on a unicorn while smiting his enemies. |
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
I recommend setting Ulm to AI. I doubt anyone will want to take over for Ulm after 4 stales while Jotunheim has been ravaging their land. One would think it will be a pretty unrecoverable situation.
|
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
When a spider is in a box, and that box has only one opening, the spiders will pour out of it, and swarm over whatever may be in their path.
The funny little people of Mictlan would do well to remember that when a spider spins its web, it leaves no end untied. |
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
We, Jotunheim, have left their warm farmlands alone, in hope of organized leader arriving and salvaging what they have. Their confused god seems to be unable to act. So far we've taken only mountains (who wouldn't like mountains?) and swamps (The Skratti seem to think they're important).
-Heard from the mouth of a Jarl leading a Jotun war party in southern mountains. |
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
We should set Ulm to AI now.
|
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
I agree with konming.

Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
I have spoken to Coobe on IRC and he said his absence has been due to a bereavement in the family but he does not object to Ulm being set to AI.

Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
The nation of Ulm was in tatters. Their god, having forsaken her people leaderless, has escaped this world in a vain attempt to save herself. No one can evade one's impending fate, and devastation will be the one to follow her wake.
A temporary leader, chosen from amidst the people, has been elected. The previous leader led with such passivity that even the industrous people of Ulm were struck by sloth, and thus the nation's armies are almost nonexisting, while the bloodthirsty giants of Jotunland rape their lands. Ulm is lost. |
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
Alas, the nation of Eriu is torn asunder by the half man half beast aberrations. Let the world know the Erian peoples fought a good fight, and never surrendered. The women and children have been taken to the sacred cliffs to fling themselves to the rocks below. Best, in these situations, to die free than to live a slave to the cruel Minotaurs. But yet, there is hope. Still, there is a chance that Pangaea and her evil hordes may be defeated, and as long as that hope remains, the will to fight lingers.

Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
Every day for two months the Northern army of man had lined up in battle formations. Opposite them, the savage forces of mictlan lined up in the pass in their own battle formations. Neither army advancing. Castellen Sigered hailed to his counterpart, Castellen Heddon. He said "I grow tired of this waiting. What does the prophet wait for? For months he has been preaching our victories. And yet he will not give the order to advance. Every time I ask him his reply is the same. "Time is on our side" What the hell does that mean?"
At that moment the prophet Godwin was seen striding quickly towards his two Castellen commanders. He called out. "Hail commanders. I bring you news from the witches of Avalon. The witches have called upon the forces of the forest to help us. 3 of the enemies holdings have been raided by wolves. The witches themselves lead these raids. The flank of the enemies army has been compromised as the wolves overthrew the mictlan garrison to their north." Suddenly, the war drums of Mictlan sounded. Godwin looked at his commanders and smiled "it seems our enemies have also learned of the news. Prepare for battle. Do not forget your bodyguards, the enemy has flying halfmen with weapons blessed by death itself. They will surely be seeking our commanders." The army of Mictlan charged. Amongst the armies of man, the witches sang songs which filled the troops around them with courage. Prophet Godwin was in the center calling down blessing and words of courage to those around him. The command was given and the sky grew dark as hundreds of arrows filled the air. Only a few of mictlans front troops were taken down. A high priest called down for the blessing of their god. Sacred warriors all along the Mictlan side had their weapons burst with a dark glow. Fate itself also favored them. The Jaguar warriors raised their obsidion swords and outpaced the sunwarriors which were placed at the front of the army to lure the archers of man. Their morale was high. They roared as one as they charged forward. Too long had they endured waiting. Thunder and lightning struck the forces of man. The sky opened and searing stellar lights fell. Clouds of green spores designed to lull a warrior in to sleep descended upon the forces of man. The army of man survived the first barrage of magic. Knights charged out ahead of the men at arms, eager to come to grips with the hordes of savage jaguar warriors. Over their heads flew more arrows, again darkening the sky with shafts of death. Yet for all of that, the arrows seemed to be twisted by fate itself and the warriors of Mictlan rushed forward once again unhurt. With a great crash the jaguar warriors met the first charge of knights. Flying to the rear of the army of man, dozens of blessed eagle warriors reaped havoc. Castellen Sigered looked around him. It looked bleak. his bodyguards cut down by the furious onslaught of savage eagle warriors all around him. Some distance away he could see the knights who were assigned the duty of cutting down fliers charging to his aid. It would be too late. But he would buy them time. His screams were cut short by the 8 eagle warriors whos blades bit deap into his body. The 8 eagle warriors were at the rear of the army and were setting about their task of killing all of mans commanders. They descended upon a group of 4 more, with the knights hot on their track. But they would have time enough. Prophet Godwin saw his commanders in trouble and yelled orders to the closest witches. Calling down the wrath of his god to smite the closest eagle warrior only to be resisted. The eagle warriors swooped upon Commander Hedda's group. Vines from the earth lashed out upon direction of the witches and entangled the fliers. Even so entangled they fought savagely. Yet this gave time to the knights and they finally caught up to and slaughtered the last of the eagle warriors. At the front of the battle warriors fell on both sides. Yet the savagary of the mictlan warriors was winning out. Only a handfull of knight and man at arms stood between the ranks of longbowmen and mictlan teeth and claws. With the threat to the commanders past, order was restored. Archers took aim. A deadly volley again whistled through the sky. As such short range the volley was deadly. The seemingly invincible jaguar warrior ranks was shattered. Invulnerable to the arrows falling around them, the last remaining knights cut a bloody swath through the last of the Jaguar warriors. Upon seeing this, the rest of Mictlans army fled. leaving behind spellcasters passed out from their efforts to call down lightning upon the armies of man. |

Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
Cynethryth, Knight of the stone, commander of Man's southern army looked at the maps layed out before him. The map showed detailed positions and army make up of the enemy as well as his own forces. For months he had played hit and run with the enemy. Never engaging their superior forces. But recentlty, things had changed. A large contingent of knights had arrived to reinforce his command. And from the jungles to the south almost 100 man/apes with bows had come to swell his ranks. Still, his armies were spread amongst three seperate commands, he had to make sure it struck the enemy at the same point. He pointed at the map "We will strike here. Send out the runners and notify the other commanders.
All day and night they force marched into Mictlan territory. Meeting up with stragglers the army swelled to over 200 strong. The next morning, at the edge of a clearing name "Druid Land" The southern army of man lined up to face Mictlans province defences backed by almost 70 Mictlan regulars. Cynethryth's strategy was simple, yet elegant. To the center was the mass of recruited light infantry. To either flank was the man at arms. Behind they formed in small groups were the man/monkeys with their bows. Behind them the longbows. And finally, behind them all, were the knights. The savage Mictlan army had amongst them lizard riders who benefited from the Mictlan blessing. Set to either flank they were behind the numerous slingers and warriors making up the defense force. Also with the Mictlan army were the feared Eagle warriors. The enemy struck first. In the center of mans army dozens of Eagle warriors swept down and lay waste all around them. One of the casulties was a novice witch under Cynethryth's command. The eagle warriors killed many man apes. The man apes threw down their arms and set off running past Cynethryth command. He did not even bother trying to Rally the beasts. The front ranks of the army of man held up well vs the pelting stones from the Mictlan militia force. The sleak lizard riders were closing upon the front ranks. lightning pierced the sky and hit some light infantry. The witch standing besides Cynethryth spoke a word. The unit of knights were infused with speed. Yet Cynethryth did not give the order to charge yet. Fighting in the center of mans army was getting desperate. More man apes thew down their weapons and routed past the knights. The men at arms had come to grips with the lizard calvary. The initial charge of the lizard calvary decimated the front ranks of men at arms. Yet the stout men at arms pushed forward thru shear force of numbers taking some of the lizards down. Finished with the fleeing man apes, the eagle warriors set their sights upon the longbowmen. In their bloodlust they could not know how close they had gotten to the haste buffed contingent of knights. "CHARGE" yelled Cynethryth and the knight of man leaped forward. Their charge killing every eagle warrior on the field. At the front the light infanty had broken and were running. The stout man at arms on both flanks filled the ranks and held the line. They heard the thunder of the knights behind them and had taken heart. The Amazons on their lizard mounts were fierce and skillfull. They met the knight charge but could not resist. They too were rode down under iron shod hooves of the knights. Desperate now, the commanders of Mictlan rained down Arcs of lightning upon the knights. Some few were slain. But the charge continued. As the knights met and slaughtered the first rank of Mictlan slingers the Mictlan army had had enough. They turned and ran. Only to be cut down to the last warrior by the hastened knights of man. Cynethryth, commander of mans southern armies, had his first victory of the war. |
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
Dear Mictlan:
Stop using your limited funds buying your PD up to 41 just so those chicken sh#t province defense slingers can send thier slingstones into the backs of your courageous Jaguar warriors. It's not like the PD force is going to stand up to the knights once your sacred warriors are dead. And those slings sure as hell arent hurting the knights... |

|
Re: Exterminatus - And the world will burn!
I sure hope the game continues. I am enjoying Man's low tech war with Mictlan. Although I cringe opening every new turn waiting for the inevitable hammer to fall.
I also find it rather amusing (and sad for MA man) that I would rather face dual blessed sacreds in the early game then have to fight them with mans abysmal mage support vs Mictlans excellent mage support. How is it that Mictlan has a better early game (with dual blessed sacreds) AND a better mid/late game (via their superb mage diversity?) sad, very sad indeed. I suppose the only thing that surprises me is how effective the knights have been against the dual blessed sacreds. True, they are much more expensive but I didn't think they would be able to hold the line against a bunch of dual blessed sacreds as well as they have been. The high defense of the knights play havock on mictlans sacreds when they don't have F9 or W9 to help them hit. |
