NOW we're up and running, finally :)

It sounds like from llamabeast that we should be carefull not to use the turn we received earlier this week. To be sure everything goes alright, remember to have your turn resend and complete it again.

Oops, I used my turn from last week. But it's an exact copy ('sum' gives the same checksum) of the turn I got from a resend I just did. So, nothing to worry about for me at least.

At war with 5 nations this early...I would have thought it was Bandar Log's behind the scenes diplomacy that has made me such a target but it seems that his lands are just as desirable as mine to the conquerors. I'm afraid there will not be room for all of you in the core of my empire, but I shall try to accommodate your armies as best I can.

"Commander Omacatl!"

He looks up wearily from the scrolls laid before him. "Yes, Sergeant?"

"It appears there has been somewhat of a deception, sir! Regarding the distress note attached to the arrow that impaled Private Concorde!"

Omacatl scowls. "The Princess?"

"Sir, it appears there is no Princess captive in that castle. That note was the handiwork of a million monkeys scrawling randomly. What shall we do, sir?"

"Well, damned if I'm going to march all the way back to Mictlan empty handed! A man's got his career to think of! Who holds the castle, then?"

"Sir, I'm telling you, it's monkeys, they are everywhere. There does not appear to be any sign of human inhabitants."

"Monkeys? Huh! Well, here's what we do. Send word to our capital that we have sighted the Princess, and are making preparations to storm the castle. I'll not have the Council of Couatls rob me of my chance at glory by canceling the operation!"

Has Ossa dropped off the face of the planet?

Oceania is about to stale for the second time in a row, and rule is that twice in a row and it goes AI.... maybe we should start looking for replacement now?

Looks like he has not been on the boards at all for a week. Too bad, because Oceania looks like it's doing pretty well!

Maybe look for a sub for a couple days, and if that fails, AI?

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - rockin out

OCEANIA RECIEVES MASSIVE GOVERNMENT BAILOUT

The naton of Oceania, hit hard by the recent global credit meltdown and collapse of the subprime caviar derivatives market, has given itself a staggering 700 billion clam bailout.

Upper management has been sacked, and a new government regulator has been appointed to oversee the nation's rebuilding.

Of course rebuilding won't be easy, as the nation has been in turmoil for the last several months, and nobody seems to remember the combination to unlock the Ministry of Diplomacy. Further, 700 billion clams doesn't really help when they never really existed in the first place, and constitute a self-IOU.

Ahoy from Oceania! Hope everyone's glad the roster is refilled. Kindly PM any existing treaties Oceania is involved in, and I'll do my best to honor them.

I don't suppose anyone wants to give a quick overview of the game? Apart from this Works of Shakespeare business?

Cheers,
cleveland

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - rockin out

Right. So I've finally got a handle on what's going on here...

To get this economy back on track, Oceania proudly announces the opening of Water.Mart, your underwater superstore! Save big on this season's hottest trends, like a Robe of the Sea for just 25gems! Or our Frost Brands, which were recently used to slash their own price to an astonishingly low 8gems! All gem types excepted (2slaves=1gem)!

R'lyeh, are you still trading Earth gems? We'll give Nature 1:1. Unless we're supposed to be at war with you, in which case, prepare to die you alien scum. But otherwise, let's make a deal.

Speaking of which, am I supposed to be at war with anyone? Score graphs and troop distributions are a bit inconclusive. If so, you sworn enemy/enemies should also prepare to die.

As far as the disappearance of El Ex-Presidente, my best guess is that he had a Circle Master (event? merc?) but lost him to some heavy cav. Enraged & disgusted, he closed the door on the Underwater Kitties.

Cheers,
Under-Water Over-Lord

You are at war with me, Pythium, just like the rest of my neighbors ^^

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - rockin out

Let it be known that, in spite of an uncomfortably thorough ravishing by Pythium's Lord of Fertility, Oceanians are in high spirits over the victory of their winged champion in the Death Match arena.

In what proved to be an unexpectedly short contest, Palasi's unrelenting dive bombing drove her only barbarian challenger from the field of battle.

Unable to hold the Champion's trident (sweet), Palasi returned home to a weeklong feast in her honor. Eating an unprescedented volume of deepfried crawfish, she left the feast in a state which admirers have described as, "morbidly obease."

Her now legendary gut is expected to open new octives in her fatal songs of suduction, though concerns about her mountainous rolls of volumptous flesh have prompted Oceania's greatest tailors to begin work on a custom mumu for their biggest hero. :)

Hello Kitties,

What's the holiday policy with this game?

I'm open to whatever the players of this game like. But I'd advocate the postponements I'm implementing in the ComfortZone game (I'm the moderator): EDIT: Nov 26th-Dec 1st & Dec 23rd-Jan 2nd, with quickhost off.

Cheers,

Oh, and Omni - did you get a PM (possibly several times) from me regarding ComfortZone? It kept giving me errors....

the problem with turning quick host off is that we might suddently get someone who's loosing starting to stall... is there a reason to start already? if anyone is going on vecation anytime soon speak up, if not i don't see any reason to going into vecation mode sometimes closer christmas.

btw, whats so special about Nov 26th - Dec 1st?

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - rockin out

@Janlm: The hosting scheme for ComfortZone. Basically, I'll be turning quickhost off in that game during holidays because there's always a few players that don't want to play Dominions while visiting family (weird, I know).

Without quickhost, there's no resentment toward that 1 guy who can't/won't play his turns, while everyone else is incessently refreshing thier inbox for 6 straight days. And frankly, the rest of us should occasionally spend time with loved ones (not that I don't love you guys).

Nov 27th is Thanksgiving, a major "traveling" holiday in the US. People generally leave on Wed (Nov 26th) and return home on Sun (Nov 30th), hence the postponement. In ComfortZone, we'll be extending equal accommodations to any holidays the players celebrate.

But I'm not actually going anywhere for Thanksgiving, so I'm cool with anything the BonsaiKitty fraternity wants (except Pythium :) ).

@Omni: HA! Who'd have thought Man would be rushing an elephant nation? I certainly earn novelty points for that one, no? :p

The only thing Sea Naiads hate more than a Peeping-Tom is a Peeping-Alien. Oceania formally terminates its NAP3 with R'lyeh.

Our elite Jellyfish Assault Squadron has vowed to prosecute an aggressive submarine campaign against the technologically advanced Illithid scum (in 3 months, of course). Which nations will show similar backbone against his dry provinces? :)

Sneaking armies? Those were field trips of eager young ichtysatyrs hoping to see the famed Void Gate they've been reading about in history class. :)

And besides, the wise nations of Bonsai rest easy at night knowing ichtysatyrs are only stealthy underwater...like the thousands that still infest your waters! Muahahahahaha! On field trips. ;)

Friends! Romans! Countrymen! Lend me your non-alien ears!

R'lyeh is about to gate in a large army into my rear waters. That's right, he's already gating armies.

If you ever hope to stop him, you'd better act now, because he ain't gettin' any weaker. And if Oceania falls...well, good luck dislodging him from the water.

If you need water breathing items, contact me immediately and we can begin production. Time is most certainly not on our side...

Mictlanians! Ermorians! Pangaeans! Lend me your ears!

Last month, mid-Fall, Year 4 of the Ascension Wars, a date which will live in infamy, the United States of Oceania was suddenly and deliberately attacked by ground forces of the Empire of Shinuyama.

Shin has allied with R'lyeh. Without assistance, Oceania will fall in 6 months. Then you'll be next. Think it through.

-3rd Assistant to the Axillary Undersecretary of the Emergency Reserve Communications Department

Omnirizon December 16th, 2008 01:08 PM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - rockin out

the Shinuyama-R'lyeh coalition is a very deliberate decision on Shinuyama's part. We know Mictlan had allied with Oceania, the only hope of preventing an alliance which would cement Mictlan's victory is to take the side of Oceania's foe and start a coalition in hopes of preventing Mictlan from turning into an overwhelming force. Mictlan seeing that their assured victory is threatened in this coalition, immediately cancelled their NAP with Shinuyama unless we cease our war on Oceania.

BTW, don't bother getting Const 8, Mictlan already has and has already forged EVERY artifact.

Also, did I mention Mictlan has found an Enchantress recruit site and has recruited their way into every single path combination?

So in case you havn't noticed, since Mictlan has EVERY path, they've searched their massive empire for EVERY site and have a massive gem income, twice that of any other empire.

R'lyeh's supposed "great threat to humanity" pales in comparison to what Mictlan poses to the world right now.

Everyone should seriously consider joining Shin-R'lyeh in the International Coalition Against Mictlan's Empire (ICAME).

Your future depends on it, all our future's depend on it.

Mictlan thanks Shinuyama for their blatant falsehoods. What a coincidence that they would seek to spread this disinformation on the very turn that we cancel our NAP with them! If you look into the store of treasures of your ally R'lyeh, I think you will find that since his research is much greater than Mictlan's, he has forged many artifacts. Perhaps he will share them with you?

Some of what you say is ture, but do you really begrudge Mictlan its Enchantresses? They are expensive, and a great drain on our treasury. Mictlan believes in self-sufficiency, that is all. And they do not give you every path combination.

As for gem income, Mictlan did not call for Shinuyama to be ganked on for the first half of the game, when your gem income was highest. We have a lead now, but our friends have about the same number of provinces. In time, they will discover the treasures of the lands and their gem income will be equal to ours.

It's not like we've built a massive clam farm, like the terrifying Starspawn may have done. Shudder.

Mictlan's so-called alliance with Oceania is strictly to assist them in repelling the attacks of R'lyeh. We fear the creatures of the void gate, their astral might, and their watery domain. All reasonable nations of world would seek to prevent their complete control of all of the seas.

unfortunately, that's slightly outside the lines.

cleveland's silvertongue forum tactics :martini:, no matter how despicable, are at least within acceptable meta.

still, it's funny that over half the world is willing to gang up on R'lyeh, a mediocre power at best who has a smallish army and insignificant gem income, making their research lead largely irrelevant; but not team up to stop Mictlan who has a MASSIVE gem income to power their close to second research (and soon to overtake R'lyeh, if you notice the exponentially increasing curve) and lots of gold too. go figure.

In most games, everyone teams up on the strongest power, not the weakest one.
