Re: World in Crisis - Started
I've sent 80+ militia with a couple of cavalry backup against about 10 or so elephants, militia sliced trough the elephants like butter!?
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Its not that surprising, actually. Its the tyrrany of large numbers - which is why that massed slingers are effective against vanheim, and massing is so critical for malverni.
Units have to make morale checks when they lose x% of their number. I believe the first check is at 10%. When they get down to 4 units, they have to make continuous morale checks. Additionally, the entire force has to make morale checks when the total casualties are high enough. Elephant morale is low, if I recall, its 8. Home terrain adds 1. Sermon of courage, adds one (or two). But even if so you're still talking a base morale of 10. And, with 10 elephants, you have to make your morale check as soon as you loose 1 elephant. The same mechanics BENEFIT militia. If you have 80 militia in one segment - you don't even get the first morale check until 8 militia have been killed. So, I'm willing to be what happened ist hat the elephants advanced and either didn't kill 8, or the militia actually got first strike. |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Guys, I am going to be gone Friday and Saturday, so should i look for a sub, or could you stall the game for me instead?
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Well actually it was 60 militia and 20 flagelants that got butchered by the slingers. But still you'd expect 10 elephant to be able to rout 60 lousy militia that have same morale as they. I think only 1 elephant actuality died, that's why I always use undead with elephants and cavalry.

Re: World in Crisis - Started
It was a warp in the space-time continuum. We got the wrong battle results..... In another game, I fought ~10 Mammoths with 140 Skinshifters, and I lost over 40 men. I think the battle results were switched at birth. ;)

Re: World in Crisis - Started
Because they have rejected the law of Phil, and have not kept his decrees, because they have been led astray by the false Kraken Steen, who is now dead, I will send fire upon the Sea of Angels that will consume the fortress of Oceania.
So speaks Ylid Heem, prophet of Phil |

"Let the prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. Is not my word like fire," declares Phil, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?"
As I, Ylid Heem, foretold, the fire of Phil did smite the unbelievers in the Sea of Angels. And they did burn for their sins, and those who lived were taken as our slaves. And glory will be to Phil if we can obtain another hammer for breaking more rocks into pieces. If you would sell a hammer to R'lyeh, we will pay you most handsomely. We grant safe passage to all messengers to our seas, that they may tell us their hammer prices. -- Ylid Heem, prophet of Phil |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
The Lakan Nation would like to apologize for the slightly awkward bit of diplomacy that has recently occurred between us, the Ermorian Republic, and the Giants of Formoria. Furthermore we feel we must ensure that harbor no ill will towards either nation and hope that in time this can be remembered as an amusing little footnote in a long and prosperous history between our collective peoples.

Re: World in Crisis - Started
Sadly, R'lyeh's slave Princess Buttercup did not manage to capture the champions trident at the arena match. My congratulations go to Hinnom, who sent one of their own enslaved humans to snag it. May the champion live long and prosper! Not bloody likely though, considering Hinnom's appetites.

After the Baal's of Hinnom had discovered the victory of our commander they were so pleased that they ate a city as a victory celebration :D So as a reward he has been given a pendent that marks him as uneatable for any of their kin.

Re: World in Crisis - Started
By random luck it seems that 10 /18 of my provinces are plains - which are poor grounds for gems. So the giants of Niefle find themselves forced to stoop to commerce.
Aka we will pay 15 gp for death gems. Alternately, if you would like skull mentors, we will sell skull mentors for cost +4 death gems. |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
The Apes of Lanka have a wide surplus of death gems and would be happy to trade with the Neflie Giants. Tell us what amount you would be interested in and we will attempt to send it before the next turn comes in. We'll take gold.

Re: World in Crisis - Started
Looks like llamaserver is down.
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
It did the same thing at around 7:30AM GMT today, but got better around 8AM somehow.
Hope it fixes itself again! |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Llama did mention he had power cuts the previous time, maybe it's the same problem again.
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
The llamaserver fixed itself, but still looks a bit wonky. Back to the game...
R'leyh would like Water gems. We will trade Earth gems 1-for-1. PM vfb if you are interested. |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Greetings, R'lyeh has found a buyer for our Earths gems.

Re: World in Crisis - Started
Something is very wrong with my turn. I did try to send it but I have got 16 responds (so far) with 8 telling me that's it's the wrong turn number and the other 8 telling me it's an unknown game.
My intention was to never ever stall on any game here but since I can't send in my turn and I'm about to be eliminated anyhow I guess it would be ok for you to forcehost when everyone else has done their turn. I'm really sorry for this. I'm also sorry for my bad performance I really did try to stop vfb forces but he is a way better Dom 3 player than me. Hope to see you guys in other games! |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Hi Saarud, everyone's getting these messages, because the llamaserver has gone temporarily crazy. So it's nothing you've done wrong.
Good game, and sorry about the rush. But fate placed you between me and the rest of the oceans, and I had no-where else to go! I was just lucky that when I bumped into you, your armies were off in the north expanding. |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Saarud,
I acknowledge your willingness to stay in, despite losing. Excellent sportsmanship. Thanks you. |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Gentlemen
The llama server has lost it - and will have lost it at least till llama returns, and probably a few days thereafter... Nov 3? There is also the possibility that the daily volume has exceeded the capacity of the llamaserver to serve. I can host the game for a few days if we are so inclined. |

Do we really want to wait that long? |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Hey Vfb, no I don't. I just haven't been able to get llama to take my turn.
I'll try again momentarily. |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Hi Chris ... when I checked the status page, all the turns looked like they were in except Oceania. But I guess something must have been messed up, to make it crash. Thanks for resetting the turn!
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Actually it turns out it was a general fault that made it crash. I've just rehosted it, so you should be back on track now. Sorry about that.
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Agartha! Your presence in the Northern waters is unacceptable. For it is written in the book of Phil, "And the oceans do belong to Phil, for he is the Kraken. While those who farm the lands may be permitted to fish in the sea, those from the caves are unclean. And he who dwells in the cave will defile the seas, for his bodily fluids are most impure."
R'lyeh hereby revokes our NAP-3 with Agartha. It is now turn 22. We will not commence hostilities until turn 25. So speaks Ylid Heem, prophet of Phil |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
I see Lanka isn't wasting any time with my situation.
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Sorry about that, just taking the one to give my future fortress another province to draw on.
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Hmm. I am not getting turn 23 sent to me (Abysia). And when I ask it to resend the turn, it still isn't getting sent.
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Iwar, please pvt me your email address...
Chris |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Iwar,
I changed the email address, resent the turn, and had no problem veryifying that the turn sent and was received, suggesting the problem is on your side. Please give me a heads up on what email addryess you'd like it reset to; I've delayed hosting 12 hours to enable you to do this. Best, Chris |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
I seem to be having a problem with turn 24, it consistently crashes my game when I try and load the .trn file. Hopefully I'll get it fixed soon, is anyone else having problems?
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Did you download the new patch?
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
I don't mean to cause alarm or point blame or whatever, but I was wondering about the message I received from the host saying that Hinnom might be cheating due to a large influx of money over the last turn.
Again, not accusing Hunt of cheating, just wondering what's up. |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
The same thing happened over at Timewarp. I believe Llama speculated that it has something to do with the irregularities involved in the server recently.
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Hmm. This is most frustrating. I am getting everything else. Notifications that my turn has been recieved, notifications that the e-mail address was switched away from mine (when chrispederson first did that) and then switched back (when he changed it back to my e-mail)... but I am not getting turns for this game and this game only. I am currently in several other games on llamaserver that have started back up and I am getting turns from them, so I don't think it is me.
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
I have no clue what could have happened to have that message sent . It might be something due to the patch, but that's just a guess.

Re: World in Crisis - Started
I've PM'd llamabeast with the problem, so hopefully we can get this resolved. Until then I'd appreciate it if either we extended the time hack, or if chrispederson would send me my turn via e-mail again.
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Iwar,
I was about to take your turn, forward it to you again.. the thought occured however, why don't you set up a new email service at hotmail... and we can set service to the new address? Chris |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Alright, should be good to go.
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
does anybody know why Caelum has gone A.I.?
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Probably because they were losing out to Sauromatia pretty badly.
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Those Eagle Kings were something I tell ya.
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
What you talking about Exec.. you ate them like they were chicken... Frozen chicken, mayhap, but chicken nonetheless.
How many Hof'ers did you kill... 8? |
Re: World in Crisis - Started
R'leyh would once again like Water gems. We will trade Earth gems 1-for-1. PM vfb if you are interested.
|
Re: World in Crisis - Started
Well it appears as if there is a run on water gems.
Jotunheim will pay for water gems with death, fire or nature gems, or buy them at 15gp each. |
