The Forges of Pan are open for business - PM me with your orders.

In other news, watch out for Ctissian assassins. They just picked off a 2 star commander with skelly spam!

I'll be leaving for the WE on Friday morning (French time) and I won't be back until late Sunday evening. Would it be possible to delay hosting during that time please?
Thank you.

Well, I'm off. See you on Sunday...

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Can we add 24 hours to hosting to accommodate jmb?

Also, anyone have air/fire gems they'd like to trade? We are offering hammers at a specially discounted cost of 14... :)

Valerius February 1st, 2009 03:03 AM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Denisius. You need to delay hosting as per jmb's request. He gave plenty of notice requesting the delay.

Valerius February 1st, 2009 02:05 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Ok, I want a different admin for this game. It was never stated that delays wouldn't be allowed, jmb asked for the delay well in advance, and Denisius was on the boards yesterday (in addition to DC's and my own reminders I PMed him about delaying hosting). I can't think of any excuse for hosting having not been delayed.

DonCorazon February 1st, 2009 10:52 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Denisius, I am on the boards pretty frequently so usually can catch when players need delays, etc. Why don't I take over as admin as it might help avoid these problems?

I agree. Or at least, he should have posted to say that he wouldn't delay the turn and why.

I would also like to take this occasion for thanking NKIcan for his fair play in not taking advantage of my stale turn. Thank you.

Denisius February 5th, 2009 06:06 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Sorry, I don't really have the time nowadays to keep playing the game, so I've set myself as A.I.

Corazon, I've P.Med you with the administrative password.

DonCorazon February 5th, 2009 08:04 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

I've added 48 hours to see if we can find a sub.

analytic kernel has kindly offered to take over the helm of MA Arcos. Welcome to our small, brutal world ak! :)

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Thanks, dc. :)

I promise I will try to be more challenging than the AI to any who try to slaughter me. But, no guarantees - this is my first MP game. A bowl of spaghetti might have more order to it than my strat.

If anyone who has a NAP with Arcos would PM me, I would appreciate it.

Thanks. Looking forward to fun times.

Welcome to our nasty little war.

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Thanks, Shaggy.

By "our nasty little war", I assume you mean the game overall and nothing specific between Mictlan and Arcos...? I haven't seen any hostilities from you, but haven't heard anything about a NAP either.

LordShaggy February 13th, 2009 01:47 AM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

I meant generally.

On another note, I hate to be the weak link here, but I'm out of town doing romantic things till Tuesday. Can we delay hosting?

Also sorry about my stale turn, my apartment blew a fuse (yes, a fuse, not a breaker) a few hours before hosting.

DonCorazon February 13th, 2009 03:11 AM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

No problem don juan. I assume that means you want to push back hosting 120 hours / eg 5 days from now, or are you turning in a turn tonight and then need the delay?

I always thought of Mictlan stealing hearts in the literal sense rather than the figurative one. ;) Enjoy your amorous reprieve from Dom3 brutality.

Oh, don't worry. I brought her a bag full of fresh ones. :) Thank you very much for the delay. I am back now.

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Hey, I am very sorry to flake out here, but it's pretty clear that my priorities lie elsewhere, as I keep missing turns. I have very much enjoyed this game, but feel like I am letting you all down. What's the procedure for getting a substitute?

DonCorazon February 22nd, 2009 02:13 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Post in the MP forum explaining at a high level the game and your position and request a sub.

DonCorazon February 23rd, 2009 10:56 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

I am going to add 48 hours to see if we can find a sub. I may post for the Mictlan Sub myself and add a little more color to see if we can get someone sooner.

No luck so far. Any thoughts? Also, I wouldn't mind slowing hosting down to 72 hours...

I'm fine with 72 hours.

You could let Mictlan stale while I gobble up its territories.... Just kidding, of course. No, I don't what to say about the situation. I'm content to wait until we find a sub.

The position for which I am subbing isn't strong, but am still finding it to be a good experience. To any fellow noob reading this: I would recommend that you go ahead and give Mictlan a try. You might not win, but it is still fun and you will likely learn some things along the way.

I have no objection to 72 hours. The bad news is: I'm going on vacation next week and I had planned on starting to look for a sub today and going AI if I didn't find one before I leave on Saturday.

DonCorazon February 25th, 2009 06:41 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Hmm...do we want to call this game? From my point of view it was about to get fun, but since we haven't even found a sub for Mict, it seems we are about to potentially have 2 powers go AI, which radically alters the dynamics of the game. Maybe we should vote or get someone to look at the turn files and pick a winner? Or play on with 2 AIs...ugh...or continue to look for subs?

jmb February 25th, 2009 06:55 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Well, I'll only be gone for a week, so if we don't find subs and you don't want me to go AI, you could pause the game and I'd come back then.
OTOH, I don't know how long I'll be able to resist to the forces currently arrayed against me...

DonCorazon February 25th, 2009 11:51 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Excellent news: Shogi has volunteered to step in for Mictlan - everyone give a warm welcome to the newest entrant into our bloody world! We will also move to 72 hours. As for Pyth, lets see how things go - I'd rather not see you go AI and it might make sense to just wait for you to get back since Shogi will need time to look over the turn and get caught up.

Anyway, since we have had some turn over here are the 6 nations and their leaders:

Mictlan:
shogi

Arcos:

Pythium:

Abysia:

Ermor:
NKIcan

Welcome to the game Shogi!

I'm also fine with waiting for jmb to return in order to avoid Pythium going AI.

Welcome, Shogi. Thanks for taking my place. I will PM you with my password and a brief history.

Welcome, Shogi.

I would also be fine with waiting for jmb to return. With 72-hour hosting, we would only be missing about 2 turns....

Ok, I got my turn in, but I didn't find a sub. I said to pm DonCorazon if anybody becomes interested, otherwise I'll be back in a week, see you then.

DonCorazon March 3rd, 2009 11:42 AM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Couple things: Ermor staled - normally not a big deal but he's in the midst of a war for survival. Ermor are you around? I'd hate to see two stales in a row while fighting. Hopefully that wasn't an indication of surrender - we were looking forward to some exciting counterattacks :)

Also, I am not exactly sure when Pyth will be back - I will add time if needed to accomodate his request.

DonCorazon March 7th, 2009 01:57 AM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

NKican hasn't been on the boards since 2/23 it seems and staled again. Frankly, I don't think it mattered much in their fight with me since I defeated his one big army near me before he vanished. At this point, I think Ermor is in shambles and won't matter whether they are AI, or not, but AI is preferable to letting them just stale. I doubt we can find a sub but open to ideas.

Valerius March 7th, 2009 01:09 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

I also doubt that we'll find a sub - the position is not good. I think we should set Ermor AI. It may not make much difference but at least the AI will launch some attacks, instead of just sitting there.

DonCorazon March 17th, 2009 09:35 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Did anyone else get a stale? I definitely submitted my turn and even checked llamaserver earlier today and looked like we were just waiting on Mictlan but the turn I just received show's I staled and has none of my orders....arrrgghhh! (especially annoying b/c I had to do that turn twice since my computer crashed...)

edit: oh, maybe it was because of the patch?! My turn was submitted pre-the patch / llama crash.
I don't mind rolling back or playing on - slight preference to rolling back unless the stale affected everyone.

Valerius March 17th, 2009 10:44 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

I staled as well and also submitted my turn before applying the patch. I'm guessing everyone staled - except possibly Mictlan, who may have applied the patch before submitting his turn.

I would like to roll-back and resubmit the turns, saved with the new patch applied.

Edit: I also got an e-mail from the llamaserver that Dominions crashed when the server tried to host the game.

DonCorazon March 18th, 2009 12:03 AM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Ok, I am going to rollback. Everyone please patch and resubmit.

DonCorazon March 18th, 2009 02:06 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Is anyone playing on a Mac? That would have caused the crash given the patch has issues with Macs.

llamabeast March 18th, 2009 06:14 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Ah, you rolled back! Nice one. Anyway, the crash won't recur. It was caused by a bug in v3.23, but JK's let me have a patched version for the LlamaServer so it won't crash now.

DonCorazon March 22nd, 2009 11:55 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

While the game seems to be fine now, the 3.23b patch is available - i just saw the thread and updated. Link to patch is here

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

i need to add a couple hours to the hosting since i forgot to submit my turn and am at work. apologies.

Valerius March 31st, 2009 05:17 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

No problem, thanks for admining. Anyway, I'm just glad that for once I'm not the last one to submit their turn. ;) The game has really been moving quickly recently, which is great.

I also want to salute jmb for fighting for so long against multiple opponents. Well played.

DonCorazon March 31st, 2009 05:38 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

yes, jmb, nice job hanging on - sorry to pounce on you but I think we all know that war between the sweet, furry animals of Pan and the flaming evil blood drinking Abysians is on the horizon..,speaking of which, anyone else notice the heat rising in the world? Aby's dominion seems to be spiking frighteningly fast, along with gem income. :)

Valerius March 31st, 2009 06:07 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Hah, nice attempt to turn people against their good neighbor Abysia but we're not the ones with the Chalice, Well of Misery and more tarts than I can keep track off. How many are you adding per turn: one, two, more? :)

Abysia calls on the civilized nations of the world to stand together against the menacing hordes of beasts and undead that Pangaea is assembling! Only united will we be able to fend them off.

We would also add that while our gem income has grown recently it's still less than Pan's and for most of the game has been far less.

You may not wish to take sides yet but Abysia asks the nations of the world to observe the war between us and Pan (which we agree is inevitable) and if you see us falter consider that if we fall you will certainly be the next victim...

analytic_kernel March 31st, 2009 06:35 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

Yeah, that's an impressive Tart collection DC has been growing. Arcoscephalian Intelligence recently witnessed an (accidental?) run-in between Mictlan and some of them (along with pimped out Queens of Air) and it wasn't pretty. Also saw them in action in the former territories of Ermor.

However, Arcoscephale chooses to remain neutral in any Abysia-Pangaea conflict that should arise at this time.

Speaking of neutrality, what would be the reaction if I put up Arcane Nexus after Pythium's global is down? I read in other threads that some people consider AN to be an act of war. Considering that two nations (guess which) have significantly higher gem incomes than Arcos, is it really that big of a deal?

Only one way to find out...

Its true that most players would consider NAPs null and void once something like that goes up. As for Pan, we love our wise neighbors to the north especially if they share their bounty..:)

Pan asks the same, and asks that we appoint an international commission to monitor Abysia's carbon footprint aka the line spiking up in the Dominion graph. If you start seeing black candles popping up in your lands, it could be too late and then no amount of tarts (which btw, I am losing more than I am making of late) will be able to stop the misguided faith in a flaming head that looks like Al Bundy! :)

Having now seen the results of the past turn we can only say that our words have proven correct - after attacking Pythium Pan has now started an attack on Mictlan. Abysia will not stand by while another nation is victimized by Pan - we hereby end our NAP with Pan. We will launch our attacks on turn 67, with the battles taking place on turn 68.

As far as Arcane Nexus, we are shocked at Pan's blatant violation of the "everyone attack the person who casts AN" tradition of the Dominions community. Having said that, if Abysia gets a cut of the Nexus we wouldn't mind so much either. :)

A word about our dominion. We have a small border with Arco so they are not threatened by it. Mictlan has a strong dominion of their own and was in fact stronger than ours most of the game and can withstand our dominion. Our dominion is only intended to strike at one nation: Pan.

And lastly... Al Bundy! You will burn for this impertinence.

DonCorazon March 31st, 2009 11:50 PM

Re: Epic Battles(PBEM) - Game on!

hehe, Pan does not want a war with Mictlan - they attacked us the turn before last while we were peacefully laying siege to a Pythian fort. They slew several innocent tarts, it was brutal. We assumed that meant they were planning on attacking us further...
