It does not matter what I want to do, I said I would and I am. When someone says they are going to do something they should be man enough to do it. EJ is looking forward to a game against me and I will give him that game and I will give him the hardest challenge I know how. Hope this clears things up:cool:

When I started this post it wasn't my intention to just get a game together
and then let the post die. So I think I definetly posted in the wrong place. It seemed like the right place at the time, but seeing that this forum has limited strick usage, it might be a good idea to move it.

OK this test isn't done yet as far as ongoing battles, but I want to post a few thoughts.

This format is not suitable for this type of tournament IMO.

The game guide suggests using the tournament option for people
to play blind games created by a third party.

This is the best way to use it I think.

So I'm going to begin working on a scenario for encryption.

Now here's the interesting twist.

Players will be responsible to find someone to fight with.
I will only be responsible to create/send tournament files to any player 1's
and passwords to player 2's

Players will score it or just play it. Whatever they see fit.

If they want to replay it in reverse they can do that.

I won't do any scoring , simply provide the blind scenario.

Having the CD's for WinSPMBT/ WinSPWW2 is imperitive for joining and playing
any scenario's created for encrypted play. Yes WW2 is possible.

I think this simple fact (CD ownership) needs to remembered the most.

This tournament thing seems to be lacking gamers dedicated to playing it. Ramm dropped the ball and went mia. I noticed Ramm has banned user under his name. How did that happen? He must have REALLY pissed off the Shrapnel moderators. I sent the turn back to Spirek and NOW he's mia also. IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN PLAYING THE TOURNAMENT PM ME ASAP! I'm still interested and need someone to play.

This tournament is a test. The format works as long as two people want to play.

In future I'm only going to provide the scenario. It will be the players responsibility to find a quality opponent.

Look like we have a big communication problem. You send me third time the same turn... I play it each time and i send it back. First time it was ok. Second time i lost an APC and now i've destroy one of your tank... There is no sense to play all the time the same turn.

It never really turned into a tournament. Imp and Double Deuce
are the only players that actually started a game to my knowledge, and at this point I'm not even sure it's still going.

So all in all the format works, but as far as a tournament I'm afraid it's an abismal failure. :eek:

Players are supposed to make it happen,and if they don't for whatever reason,well it just doesn't happen.

I have to give DD his dues here, despite dire circumstances he is still being aggressive with whats left. I do feel something expensive is going to fireball before he is done

Thanks for playing through it. I'm just trying to figure out why people sign up, then drop the ball and disappear. Or even worse, they don't even pick up the ball to begin with.

Since there really isn't a tournament at this point, the scenario is still availible to anybody that wants to try it out.

All you have to do is
1) Find somebody with the CD and reliable to play.
2) PM/Email me for the scenario.
3) Have opponent PM/email me for the password.

You and your opponent determine what PBEM slot to use and off you go.

You were supposed to play EJ not Double Deuce.

You can play again,you'll just have to play the left side like before,because you allready have seen it.

It's up to you to find your own opponent though.

I know, if you look back 14 posts in this thread to EJ's last post. What he told you is a real head scratcher. But like I've been saying if you can get a real ooponent to play you you can try again.

Just find an opponenent that will actually "stay the course" to coin a phrase.

If and when you do just send me a PM and I'll get the files out to you and your opponent. The tournement is in fact dead but you can still try out the scenario.

I assumed work load on the campaign or life got to DD as turns became intermitent.
Did not bother him as it was a done deal & the other players failed to get off the ground.
Shame really nice map & fun having someone buy you forces for a change.
I thought the idea had the possibilty for building a little community within the community with diffrent people taking over the role of tourney master, I was willing.

Looking at the attrition rate in this one,was it really that hard to grasp?


You and DD were able to get your game up and running rather quickly, why was it so hard for everybody else?

Did you 'market' the idea that you were going to have a tourney?
I remember at the blitz, which has hundreds of active SP players, there is nearly always a tourney going, with a waiting list of people to get in the next one, or fill in for those that are casualties. Is 'hours 'de life' a valid corruption (malapropism) of hors 'de combat?
There used to be a regular tourney master who's responsibility was to help people put on tourneys. Check with the blitz. They are good folks and pretty willing to help out.

I recognize names here that post there so if you need a game to get out of bootcamp, you should be able to find one you have already played. If not getting a game at the blitz is NEVER a problem. Just watch out for the Sharks.
I believe you will be allowed to play your bootcamp game while running a tourney. They make a pretty reasonable effort to cut down on the vanishing players. Between here and there, you should be able to get enough players together to have a tourney, PLUS a few spare players. Use what you have already done to get a head start and you will be fine.

Maybe due to Vista? Not sure what OS the others were running though. I can't remember but were we running it in extra secure mode? If so, any oddities will kill it rather quickly. Were the other guys fairly new to the game? If so, you have to follow the PBeM sequence to the letter or you can easily crash the game. Then again, I think there were some "personality" issues with a couple of the interested participants. ;)

Honestly, IMP had me by the throat by turn 5 and it only went downhill form there. Not sure I have the end game file if you need it.

Well the whole idea here was just to test how tournament funtion worked. My intention was to just get a handful of people (6) to run through the battles until somebody won the tournament.

If you equated the players to runners in a 100 yd dash. Only Double Deuce and Imp actually got off the starting blocks.

Anyhow in conclusion being a WinSPMBT tournament runner isn't worth it. And I'm much happier to not have to deal with fickle tourney goers. :happy:
