Sorry bout that, I didn't notice that post. Trust me though, even with two stales, you're still very much in the game. I haven't staled yet, but with all the knight/heavy cav indys around my home province I may as well have been. (Note to self: Lightning bolt first, always) It's still quite early, so at least give it your best shot.

Are we still delaying hosting for sum1lost?

I will be out of the state Friday-Sunday, so if we could get an extension for that turn, that would be groovy.

Dammit - missed the turn deadline by a matter of minutes! :mutters:

I'm going to be out of town for the weekend. If you could ensure that the hosting of the next turn is delayed until monday I'd appreciate it.

Will do, Fakey.

I am going to be busy with ROTC essentially all this weekend, with absolutely no internet access. If I could have a delay till Monday that would be great.

I need a delay over the weekend too.

Hi, I can't fix my turn from work - can I get an 8hr extension please?

Also we need to set Marverni AI. Hooray to you if you border them...

And just a friendly reminder about diplomacy being limited to ingame messages :D

Starshine_Monarch November 18th, 2009 12:59 AM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

Game has been extended, and I have informed an impartial 3rd party about Marverni. Will make the AI change as soon as he responds.

Frozen Lama November 20th, 2009 11:34 PM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

Just thought i'd mention- Marverni is not going AI. I shall return them to greatness. Waaaagh!

go 8k gold saved up!

The stalwart people of Ulm will assist their brethren in Marverni in eliminating the stain of the giants!

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

From the OP:

- Diplomacy policy: Treaties are not unbreakable, so all you have to trust is the other nation's word. However, diplomacy and planning must be done by in-game messages, representing the time it takes to deliver a message by the means available. Magic isn't infallible as anyone who has given any mage a specific script knows.

Trumanator November 30th, 2009 09:44 PM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

Declaring war must be done by in-game message? Most of the time there isn't any declaration at all. RP has never been considered wrong.

shard November 30th, 2009 11:36 PM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

Probably could do with some clarification from Starshine_Monarch.

However I'm treating the game as pretty much like a game against the AI but with the realisation that my neighbours are somewhat sentient. Also as I don't have to check PMs, chat on IRC etc the only external interaction out-of-game I need is e-mailing my turn to Llamaserver. Its like RAND but with potential for some simple diplomacy.

Frozen Lama November 30th, 2009 11:43 PM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

so i think he's saying that he doesn't think you should have announced to the world that you and neif were fighting. seems a little petty to me, but i could be technically against the rules.

shard December 1st, 2009 02:52 AM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

Well I'm not saying its wrong; you can do it in-game as well by sending a message 'to all'

I believe the rationale behind it is similar to games like http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=43097
and other RAND games; however in this case as we know who the players are at least we can still use the board for stuff like asking for extensions + the admin can play the game too etc. I think there was another variation where all diplomacy could only be done publicly on the messageboard.

Starshine_Monarch December 5th, 2009 06:17 PM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

The communications thing was really more of an experiment. I wanted to see how limiting comms to in-game messages would affect strategy and planning between players.

I'd have preferred all messages pertaining to diplomacy and strategy be kept in-game, but that's really not something I can enforce. Please try to keep it in game from now on, Trumanator, as well as the rest of us.

Trumanator December 8th, 2009 09:24 PM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

Water pipe burst right over Frozen's computer, so he will probably need a delay until he can figure out a way to get his turns done.

Damn, that sucks. Game has been delayed 24 hours. Just ask if you need more.

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

Looks like I'm going to be gone for the weekend. I'd just ask that if I don't get a chance to get the next turn in (I have this one in) and it looks like I might stale that it is delayed 24 hours.

Fakeymcfake December 10th, 2009 05:49 PM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

Due to the holiday season, and all that comes with it, from the 18th to around newyears I'll be unable to post turns. Now I can either post for a short term sub, but I doubt I'll be able to find anyone at this time of year willing.

The second option I'm about to propose is that we simply take a break until the holiday season is over. This of course would have to be a group decision, however I've seen this work for several other games. Anyhow, I'm gone for the weekend (and have my current turn in) so I'll check back on Monday to see what was decided and post for a sub if needed.

Gregstrom December 10th, 2009 07:05 PM

As per Pyrothere... I'm small enough that I can go either way on this.

Did my request for an extension get missed or something? I staled in the middle of a war and it cost me a fair amount of my momentum.

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

The game will be postponed for a while. I've PM'd Fakey and until I can get a reply from him, The game will not host. It's highly likely that we'll be rolling back to turn 32.

Starshine_Monarch December 15th, 2009 01:16 AM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

Please disregard the above post. There will be no rolling back, but the delay stands for anyone that might need it.

Okay, I'm out until newyears. Current turn is in so no worries until it hosts once. Hope everyone enjoys whatever holiday season they might celebrate.

Marverni is pleased to announce that the evil empire of Niefelheim has been vanquished. this means that the druids and carnates will be able to be at home for christmas........er i mean the winter solstice since they are druids.

Erm thanks...

I'm not surprised that I staled the first time but surely the above message would have been noted before I staled the second.

 Dammit, I apologize. I've just been forgetting to check this thread...

The game will be postponed until January 3rd, as per Fakey's request. After that, anyone that wants a delay, please e-mail me as well to make sure I don't miss it.

Frozen Lama December 19th, 2009 03:21 PM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

Honestly, if shard wants a rollback at least 1 turn, i'm inclined to say its ok. staling twice after asking for more time sucks, especially when he's in a war.

Starshine_Monarch December 19th, 2009 06:11 PM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

I'm fine with that too, though it's up to Shard if he really wants it, or if he wants to try and tough it out.

This game still going?

shard January 3rd, 2010 09:01 AM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

I'm back...

A rollback so that I recover at least a turn's worth of diplomacy, forging, mage and unit recruitment would be helpful. However if my opponents object I won't insist on it.

Starshine_Monarch January 4th, 2010 12:50 PM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

I wish I'd noticed this before we hosted again...

Please, anyone that thinks we should rollback to turn 35 say something. I don't like the idea of rolling back 2 turns as opposed to 1, but it's my fault shard is in the position he is, so I'm willing to do it if nobody objects.

Frozen Lama January 4th, 2010 07:03 PM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

oh geez. this is going to be really really ugly. two rollbacks is asking for a major fubar. :(

Fakeymcfake January 4th, 2010 09:15 PM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

Two rollbacks and you may as well restart.

shard January 5th, 2010 02:33 AM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

Well, with multiple invasions beginning now i'm screwed so my game will be done either way. Starting in the centre with a small map it was expected but the staling didn't help with the game plan. Up until then I quite enjoyed the game as the limited diplomacy made it quick, but I think we had 1 land nation too many as the middle was REALLY cramped.

kianduatha January 5th, 2010 05:36 AM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

It isn't even that you had one too many land nations--it's that the start sites are random, and you guys in the middle got screwed by the RNG. I wouldn't say it's over by any means, either--you have an impressive lead, despite the stales.

shard January 5th, 2010 08:40 AM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

Oh to make it clear I'm not for the rollback, its too late now - as fakey said, you may as well restart. Though that in itself might be interesting since everyone should be used to the new mod spells and abilities now.

I remember there used to be special summons for priest/mages in a a previous version of the holy mod - did they get taken out?

Trumanator January 5th, 2010 01:51 PM

Re: Libra - Running - Casual EA CBM with various other mods

You're thinking of the priests and sacreds holy war mod, which was not used for this game.

I'm still around... I think I've just bitten off more than I can chew in other obligations and have been forgetting to do stuff again like check up on the thread, or the entire forums for that matter... I sincerely apologize for all the headaches I've caused you all.

In case I end up disappearing again, PMing me or posting here might not get my attention. Instead, if you have any issues please E-mail me first at theamazingfightingpeanut at hotmail dot com. Make sure to include Libra in the subject line so I know who you are. I check my e-mail every day, so this way you're guaranteed a response.

In order to try and get my act together, and possibly find a sub to play for me, I'll be postponing hosting by 24 hours. I'll still be administrating the game even if I find a sub, so again, e-mail me if there is anything you need.
