Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
A soul contract? How the hell did he get one of those? And if he went to all the trouble to get that many slaves why spend them on that of all things?
Twobits kept going on and on to me about how I have no chance to beat R'yleh and he will steamroll me. Now you are saying the exact opposite? Twobits posted many times recently that he thinks mictlan can still win. R'yleh and I made an alliance agreement a long time ago and I hope we will continue it until the final two like I have always promised. |

As for R'lyeh - TwoBits said that he didn't see your collection of Archdevils. I have studied what you have both on battlefield and strategic map. In any case, you already have more money, gems AND research than R'lyeh. You have some weaknesses which I will try to exploite, but provided you win you will have much better territory than they and would be able to kick them back into water relatively easily. After that it would be straight economic contest about who will be able to make SCs faster. You have better economy. That's why I said that R'lyeh made a mistake - they could try to use wartime to cover a gap in research. Quote:

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
A pity, really. You have such a fine Devil... I should provide more cover for operation. ;)
Still, -1 army. It's intersting whether you run out of troops before I run out of provinces or no. |
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
hehe if you thought the arch devils were a surprise wait until you see what is coming next.
i made some pretty silly mistakes this turn but i'm learning... |

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
ummm... what happened to Solo the arch devil? During turn 64 he was in province 109. I ordered him to move to province 11 and i had one of my air queens meet him there.
When he arrived at province 11 in turn 65 he had somehow changed over to belonging to mictlan - he immediately attacked the air queen and killed her. Am I missing something here??? Is that some kind of uber charm spell i've never noticed before? Or is it just some kind of horrible bug? |
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
Hosting delayed while I try to figure out if the game is bugged or not. Any thoughts?
|
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
Oh okay I figured it out now. That's really strange that he carried out his previous orders after being charmed. You would think he would just sit there or something. damn.
i'll send my turn later today. |

By the way - who it was initially you sent to me in Troll form? I'll try to sent my turn today, but connection is really bad currently - I connected thrice to post this... :( |
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
He was a warlock that I put the pebble suit on to forge some earth stuff. He had on his earth boots instead of the boots of youth one winter and got a disease. His arm fell off, his eye fell out, he lost his mind etc... But he didn't die from the disease because of the regeneration from the pebble suit. Eventually he turned into a troll. I sent him over to you so you could put him out of his misery.

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
Sorry, could you ask for rehost. I completely forgot... :(
|
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
What do you mean rehost? Are you suggesting rolling back to the previous turn because you forgot to get your turn in on time?
I don't have a problem with that I guess. Is it okay with you, thunderbird? |

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
Okay we haven't heard from thunderbird and I don't want to delay the game any more so I am going to put the rollback through.
Please, please try to let me know a few hours in advance if you need an extension. I'd really rather not do any more rollbacks if we can possibly avoid it. |
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
Thank you, it's there. I hope next turn would be faster...
|
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
OKay i re-hosted with warna's new file and the previous file from me and thunderbird.
It's okay if you have delays, just please try to give me a few hours notice so i can postpone the game. I'd really rather avoid doing any more rollbacks |
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
Hey guys, my file for the new turn must be corrupted. It won't open and causes the game to crash. Have tried it with a resend as well. Was I supposed to do something special for the rehost?
|
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
oh crap. Maybe the bug was caused by the rollback - i've heard that rollbacks can make games buggy which is part of why i don't like them at all.
Are you using the file for turn 66? I've found that D3 bugs can sometimes be fixed by restarting, or maybe trying it on a different computer. If that doesn't work please make a post explaining the error to the general forum and see if anyone has any suggestions. I could try to rollback again but I am afraid that would make it even worse. |
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
Tried it on multiple computers....its a no go.
|
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
crap crap crap.
Okay well i guess we have a couple options: Option A: Rollback again and hope it works this time Option B: Have me and warna submit blank turns then host with that. We would have to rely on the honor system here since there is no way to verify that the turns are blank. Option C: Something i haven't thought of Thoughts? |
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
Just have me stall a turn...you guys go ahead.
|
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
Okay we can do it that way if you want. Warna just submit your turn when you are ready and I will force-host.
|
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
Warna you around? its been a few days since we've heard from you?
Could you just submit your turn as normal? Or we can still go with the "blank turn" plan if you prefer that. Just let me know. |
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
more strange bugs...
and the server gave that annoying inexplicable increase of wealth bug. According to some discussion i've seen here that has something to do with cancelling units in the recruitment queue. Also on the strange front some of my infantry men got promoted to become commanders as if someone had cast gift of reason on them. But i didn't do any such thing. Werid.... |
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
6 hours added for myself because i forgot to do my turn yesterday

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
Well, I am afraid I have just been outplayed ;) SciencePro has played an excellent Abyssia - whom I have had a NAP with and a happy alliance. This was my first game, and not only did I way underestimate the importance of research, but also failed to counter his dominion push early enough. We are hanging in there by a thread with literally dozens of lvl 2 preachers unable to stop the blood sacrificing advance of his dominion ;) I was forced to get desperate recently and cast BoT in an effort to slow down the sacrificers.....didn't seem to work (is it having any real effect?). This turn I had to get really desperate and try to knock out the casters directly, with anonymous (although I am sure he knew where they came from :) spells on the sacrificers, but to real effect. So, I am left with only the option of outright breaking my alliance pledge in an effort to survive, or succumbing.... what say you Science? Shall I concede and we have a war just to play it out or would you like me to fight it to the bitter end and officially relinquish my NAP in 3 turns? Of course, Mict may have other ideas....but you should have and deserve a well fought win.
|
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
Thanks for the message. I do think I will win this game, but its really up to you guys if you want to play it out or not.
Warna do you want to concede or keep playing? |

Thanks Thunderbird! I enjoyed the game a lot and hopefully we'll get a chance to play again soon.

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
After-action report for Operation Anchorage.
Players (middle age): SciencePro – Abysia Ghoul31 – Ashdod Lebarjcak - Vanheim Juffos – Pythium TwoBits (subbed by Wrana)– Mictlan Thunderbird – R'lyeh Quitti– Atlantis Sorry if I am remembering any of this wrong. Some of it is based on hearsay. The first fighting in the game was the two ocean nations going at it. Thunderbird was a noob playing his first game so I didn’t expect him to do very well against the experienced Quitti. But I was surprised when Thunderbirds’ R’lyeh triumped. Apparently Quitti lost his pretender early due and couldn’t recover. Quitt fought to the bitter end but R'lyeh eliminated him – a great accomplishment for a first game. Next Ghoul31’s Ashdod marched into Juffos’ Pythium with a bunch of dual-blessed giants. Juffos, who was far ahead of everyone in the game in general, counter-punched with a big communion that paralyzed most of the giants and enslaved the rest. Ashdod went AI, leaving all of his territory. At about the same time, Lebarjack’s Vanheim attacked Pythium also (or was it the other way around?) As Abysia I decided to take advantage of the situation and took about half of AI Ashdod’s land including his capital. Juffos didn’t want me to keep the capital so he sent most of his communion after me. I was able to turn them back with all my early-game fire gems spent in a big fires from afar attack. R'lyeh and I had agreed to be allies so he attacked Juffos also. Twobits might have helped out too. Basically, Juffos got way ahead in the early game then everyone ganged up on him. Sporting? No. Effective? Yes. Juffos fought until he was down to just a couple provinces then cast Wrath of the Gods and went AI. I can’t say I blame him. At this point, R’lyeh, TwoBits, and I ganged up on Vanheim. He couldn’t stand up to all three of us and went AI. TwoBits went on a diplomatic campaign to convince me or R'lyeh to abandon our alliance. But we both decided to stick together. On the turn I was attcking TwoBits he had to quit because of something called “real life.” Warna came in to sub. Warna was very strong tactically and did a great job holding me off even though I was much bigger at the time he entered the game. I sent all kinds of arch devils and elemental royals at him but he cut them down. But I just had so many slaves that I was able to use horrors to take most of his territory. But I couldn’t finish him off so instead I just shifted all my resources to blood sacrificing. That worked really well and I dom-killed the two AI’s and both the remaining human players. On turn 79, it was time to rejoice because a true god had ascended. Thanks everyone for playing! It was my first game admining and my first MP win. I’ll see you all in another life… |
Re: Operation Anchorage [Game Over - Abysia Wins]
Thanks for the AAR! I learned the hard way how difficult it can be to organize your thoughts & motivate to put one together, and certainly appreciate it. Congrats!
|
Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
GG and congratulations. You were spot on in the AAR. I would add a few of my failures. Quitii did get very unlucky early on, loosing his pretender. I failed to effectively follow up and he was able to cost me dearly over time even though I eventually "won." I learned how important research is, and made some very basic errors in this game. In any event, your blood sacrificing was a great move as I had trouble maintaining my dominion being surrounded by land provinces....a good move against a sea nation I think.

Re: Running – Operation Anchorage Seven Players MA Game on Bering
Congratulations!
Good game. Sorry for not posting at the time, but I had (and still have at times) problem with net connection so I had to rely on ingame messaging engine. And yes, as I said, blood sacrificing was the best way for Abysia as neither MA Mictlan nor R'lyeh have any sure way to counter that. I tried raiding, but it was just too slow with my lack of cheap thugs. Thanks also for explaining why TwoBits didn't help Vanheim. :) To R'lyeh: BoT doesn't kill instantly, it needs a time to work. And, with Abysia's mass of slaves it was a trivial matter to make a number of Boots of Youth. Even in my own position I'd lost just a few mages to it. As for my own performance, it wasn't very good, sorry. At one moment I almost lost an interest which could impact my playing style. Still, I hope I provided something of challenge considering my lack of experience in Mictlan and of understanding of TwoBits' Pretender. Which was far from bad, by the way - he just decided to go into Blood instead of pursuing his initial strategy, I think. And MA Mictlan isn't precisely a Blood power. Still, I made another mistake in postponing researching for artifacts when I saw you'd already had some. And while Wish and Nexus allowed me some breathing apace, I think I would be better off with artifacts ans Tartarians before that. :) Thanks for a game, guys! And always give your SCs high MR! :) |
Re: Operation Anchorage [Game Over - Abysia Wins]
Thanks for posting guys. It was a fun game and I learned a lot. see you!
