Anyone else have objection to the last man standing? Holding capitals has it's merits but it always requires someone to actually go through the trouble to actually verify the claim, which admittedly is not a big trouble, but is trouble still ;)

Re: Fracture - LA Game, We're full - pre-game hassle.

After talking with a couple of people from the game, Squirrelloid talked reason into me to adding an capital based victory. So, either control 7 capitols (one of them can be yours) for 3 consecutive turns (this claim must be verified by an external party, preferably someone from these boards that most if not all of us can trust). Another mean to victory will be the concession by other remaining players.

Mainly this is to make the last dozen or so turns of such an game unneccessary where people just gang up futilely on the player who claims a victory. This also means that you should be aware of other players caps, preferably have a scout or astral window or scrying them regularily to see what is the status of that cap. You don't have to inform others of how many capitals they are controlling if you do not want to, but of course you can boast about it if you think it's worth it :) I presume people don't have strong objections about this, or don't simply care about the issue so much. If there are objections with good enough reason for it, it can be rethinked. 7 capitols mean that you must control 1/3 of the capitols in the game, and are pretty much winning the game. If two players can make the claim on the same turn, well, they will have to fight for an eight one or see which loses one first :)

Also, controlling the cap means that you own the fort in it (as is with the victory points, which I will not enable for this game as it would make capitols easy targets). Sieging the fort does not count as owning it, and being sieged while owning the fort counts as owning it.

I will shortly be making the game available on the llamaserver. Enjoy the play, and further questions can still be directed to me by PM or posting into this thread.

Edit: I added a link to the map file of Glory of the Gods we are using to the main post, but here it is again. I don't think you need the map file to play, but if you wish to use it for your own pleasure, well, here you go. It is by no means perfect, but it is better than the original one.

Re: Fracture - LA Game, We're full - pre-game hassle.

Slight update, it seems the name Fracture had been already used some time in the past, so this one will be called Fractures instead. Use that to submit your pretenders, the game is now ready to recieve them. Make sure to have CBM 1.6 enabled when you create your pretender so we don't have to unneccesarily start the game again ;)

The map linked to here:

http://www.llamaserver.net/gameinfo.cgi?game=Fractures
(http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showpost.php?p=652080)

Actually doesn't have start positions modded, as far as I can see.

Also, the map is missing a connection from 71 to 85.

I should have responded sooner, but I won't be near my computer on Thursday (Thanksgiving). I think we may be ready to go today, so is there any way we could do a relaxed sort of start, or just have first turn due Fri eve? NY is GMT-5

Chelms is LA Man. And we can take a slight break on tomorrow, if we get the game going before then :)

vfb, you were right. I tweaked around, and now you can't start in middle of a swamp or waste, on the outskirts perhaps, but not in the middle. Also removed all water starts with only 2 neighbors (this means a few corner provinces and chokepoints) in the western sea. Didn't touch the eastern one. Overall poor start positions on land should've been mostly removed. I also added connection to 71 <-> 85.

You still won't be needing this to play afaik, but just to make sure and to let people use it in the future, here it is.

:o

I've only had the game a month or so and this is the first look I've had outside the early age.

I was just reading the manual though and did you guys know LA Ermor doesn't need to spend money and resources on troops? They just appear. Like magic. How cool is that?

Quitti November 25th, 2009 01:49 PM

Magically appearing troops! I hope you remembered to take an awake pretender with at least d3 magic.. ;)

Allright, we've started. Let me know if there are problems (such as two nations starting next to each other) or something. Next definite hosting will be on friday evening, or earlier if everyone get their turns in. Have a nice thanksgiving in the US.

At least you got hydrae! Tbh, I thought I edited out all "only-wastelandneighbor"-provinces from the map. Seems like I didn't. Btw, wasteland has more fire&death sites, so you might want to search for them ;)

In a dingy corner of each of your capital cities a little shop has just opened for business. Little can be seen inside as the proprietor has apparently not had time to clean the cobwebs from the windows. The shingle is the only freshly dusted surface in sight, and it reads:

WE BUY GOLD, JEWELRY, AND GEMS

especially the shiny purple ones

FAIR MARKET PRICE OFFERED

INQUIRE WITHIN

or if you'd rather not come in

And should you have some nubile virgins available, we, the proud Ulmish people, are ready to adopt them! Just send us a mail and perhaps a free sample, and I'm sure we can find a solution beneficial to everyone. Including the poor girls.

Just to make sure everyone has time to get back from thanksgiving etc the turn is due for saturday-sunday night EU time. Though if everyone can get it in faster, the better.

The glorious nation of Arcosephale offers for sale: lame goats, blind horses, agoraphobic eagles, and perfectly healthy worms. Inquiries are handled by the one-legged beggar at the crossroads.

Re: Fractures - LA Game, Upload pretenders

I'm not very happy right now. I have sent in my orders several times now and nothing happens. I am in 2 more games and I have the same problem there. It seems like Llamaserver doesn't like me. It has been like this for the whole week. Usually it takes severeal hours before Llamaserver communicates with me and then the whole slew of orders which I have sent in is dealt with at the same time.

Should I contact Llamabeast or is this something that regurly happens to everyone?

Re: Fractures - LA Game, Upload pretenders

Are you using your ISP email, or web email? I'm using Yahoo mail, and it seems to go through right away. You might see a delay if you are using your ISP email. You don't need to send from the same address you get your turns as, or originally signed up to the game with.

Quitti November 28th, 2009 09:46 AM

Re: Fractures - LA Game, Upload pretenders

I'm using Gmail (wonderful tool, allows me to also archive every single dom3 turn I ever come upon without worrying about the size of the turns), and I have no problems. Sometimes the turns take ~10min to get through, but rarely longer than that. Give me a PM if your turns don't get in before the time limit and I'll extend it a bit.

vfb has a good point with the ISP email, though it doesn't necessarily mean that only ISP emails would suffer from that, any mail provider with dropouts from network or buffered email sends (though, who would ever want to do that) might suffer from the same. I wholeheartedly suggest trying with other email address from a different provider (such as Gmail or Yahoo) to see if it solves it.

Ah well, was worth a shot. Though llamaserver didn't respond to my last email either, so it could be that llamaserver itself is having some trouble.

Re: Fractures - LA Game. We're going!

Mictlan's diplomatic efforts with Gath were in vain, and our messengers offering them peace did not return from the land of the evil giants. We can only assume our envoys were eaten, though it is unknown at this point as to whether they were baked in pie or simmered in stew.

The greatest fears of Mictlan were realized when a surprise attack was launched by Gath this month across our borders, into two provinces. Fortunately, several provinces of Gath chose this month to rebel and join the Mictlan flag. Mictlan categorically denies that any espionage was involved. Cleary the people of the land fear the cannibal giants, and seek safety in the Mictlan jungles!

At this moment, two deadly armies of regenerating, berserking Gibbors are still rampaging through Mictlan territory. Keep your women and children at home, and all diplomats are advised to exercise extreme caution when travelling to the area.

I dropped and broke my computer moving out of college yesterday, and thus have been unable to do my dominions turns. Is there a chance I could get a 24-hour extension while I try to fix it? If not, I'll weather the stales. Thanks guys

Ah, I see you staled last turn, but I'll add in 24h for you to sort out the computer. Quickhost is still on, so when all turns are in it'll host.

A warning to the nations of the world:

The nation of Atlantis is involved in a death struggle against the barbarian hordes of TC. Their Ancestor Vessels number well over 40, and are a terrifying sight on the battlefield.

Unfortunately, TC is in a corner such that no one can help in the obvious fashion. But be warned, should I fall any of my neighbors could be next! Atlantis would not turn down aid in this struggle. Please PM if you don't want to fall victim to the AV horde.

:rip: RIP Zierod of Patala, the Unforgiving King. We never even saw you! In Ermor, we have ways of extending your life. If only you could have contacted us sooner. From long range, without properly preparing the body, our spells can have unintended and indeed grisly consequences.

On second thought, what's so bad about that?

OOC: you have the distinction of being the first player killed off in a game I'm playing in. That probably doesn't make you feel any better though, does it? Hope I actually see you in a game soon. :)

News for the masses! We'll be taking a christmas break, so no turns due on 24-26th of december. If anyone needs more time to spend their holiday, let me know.

R'lyeh has now staled twice in a row, hasn't replied to my PM and hasn't submitted this turn even though I postponed it for 24h - if he stales one more time I'll try to look a sub for him. It should be in a very salvageable position at the moment, with his huge gem income...

Quitti December 20th, 2009 07:30 PM

Re: Fractures - LA Game. We're going!

Allright, R'lyeh staled so we'll need a sub for him - next hosting will be on tuesday afternoon EU time if we do find one. Slightly later if not.
