Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
On the other hand Water bracelets are cheap and easy while F boosters are expensive (and fatiguing) or crosspath.
|
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
Sure, but no one uses fire boosters to get to falling fires. They just cast phoenix power. No gem expenditures required, and no boosters risked on the frontlines.

Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
How exactly does falling frost work? The description says that agile units can avoid being hit.
And how does it scale in size and damage? Is it +1 square and +1 dmg per extra level? |
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
I think the agile units bit might just be fluff. If not it'll be a def check much like earthquake.
|
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
defense works against falling frost.
At least jag warriors seem rarely to be bothered by it. |

There's no absolute requirement for Falling Frost to be be directly comparable with Falling Fires. It just has to do a decent job in many situations, which it does. You may as well complain about Blade Wind, needs E3, huge fatigue, and easily ruined by things as complex as armour and shields. And to be fair, if you're going to talk up Fire, you need to consider the spell "Rain", and Water has a 50% fire resist spell (with earth, W3E1 I think) as well. And if you're a fire nation with heat auras and stuff, just think how Wolven Winter ruins your battlefield. The only moral of the story is that almost nothing is equal. But Falling Frost is fine for what it does. |
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
Falling frost is to falling fires as frost brand is to fire brand.
|
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
Why do you not close this thread and talk about falling frost somewhere else. This seems to be terribly off topic.
|
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
Is it? How can one say if astral magic is overpowered or not without considering the strengths and weaknesses of the other paths? That's how the discussion moved on to falling frost.
|
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
Yes, and once it moved away it is a new topic. Noone is referring to the original post any more.
|
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
And now it is turning into a meta discussion about what is and is not "on topic"...
|
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
Should the discussion in the thread be solely on the issue of the first post, or evolve around the original idea? Derailing/hijacking threads such as this is not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion.
|
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
There's definitely a difference between hijacking and evolving. I don't think anyone is trying to push their own agenda here so I don't think there's a problem. The original post has been well responded to at this point also.

Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
Your meta-discussion is derailing the thread! =P *sarcasm*
Edit: apparently :sa (: sa) is the saudi flag... who knew? fixed... |
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
Well obviously. Smiley sarcasm is their national motto.
|
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
There is also an obvious difference between discussion threads like this one and more dedicated "project" threads like mp games or mods.
In the first case it is more like a conversation where straying from the subject should be accepted and expected, in the later case you should stick to what is useful for the project. I also think it make a difference if the OP declares that he would like the thread to stay on topic. And the combination of smileys, sarcasm and nationalist symbols is obviously overpowered and should be banned. Of nerfed in CBM (community balance mod) What were we talking about?:confused::confused: ... Go sweden! |
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
Folket is on a distinguished road? What does that mean?
|
Re: Astral magic seems overpowered
What are you responding to? Please stay on topic.
