Re: Corydalis - running

Hmm ... I don't believe that Patala has more gold than it should either, unless it is a small amount that I wouldn't notice. I do see that a scout was converted into a normal unit. I am thinking that it might have been because I had sent in the turn that was still in my saved game directory for turn 14 before the rollback. There may have been some sort of mismatch between the .2h file and the actual new turn data? Not sure.

Tollund January 1st, 2010 08:09 PM

Re: Corydalis - running

That is exactly what caused the problem. You basically sent in a corrupt file that had you giving orders to units that you no longer controlled as their unit id belonged to somebody else's nation. It is absolutely necessary to redo your turn from the new information whenever a rollback occurs. Especially when you rollback two turns.

Firewalker January 2nd, 2010 12:45 PM

Re: Corydalis - running

Hmm ... yeah. Lesson learned. I was thinking since the server used the T13 .2h file it already had there wouldn't any differences, but probably some units were built in a different order by other players, etc with different IDs causing my units to have different IDs. The scout was probably one such unit.

Ok I finally found half an hour of spare Time to do my turn

Sorry Kheldron, I didn't get online until now. Glad you found the time to do your turn. Will you need a postpone for the next one?

Kheldron January 9th, 2010 08:29 AM

Re: Corydalis - running

No it should be fine I already sent it :)

Herode January 9th, 2010 01:00 PM

Re: Corydalis - running

BTW, management complexity slowly goes up & I would appreciate to switch to a 36h quickhost (or even a 48h quickhost) in the following turns. There's no emergency but I will stale soon or late should we stay on a daily tick.

Re: Corydalis - running

Well, that's in for me guys. Being stuck in a corner between Ermor and R'lyeh was not fun at all (Thankfully R'lyeh left me alone, but I had to get out some way). Could have won against Ermor, but I didn't train Lizard Kings fast enough and let him build up too much momentum. Now my God is dead and I don't have much left to fight with, so I'll be setting myself to AI next turn. I do like playing LA Ctis though, but I think I just need to mess around with them a bit more.

I need a 24 hour delay

Fantomen January 10th, 2010 07:29 AM

Re: Corydalis - running

@Ghoul31: Delay granted.

@Herode: I clearly stated in the first post that this game would be fast paced. We are only at turn 23 so I think it is too early for a longer timer. Turn 40 or so is more likely.

Well, that was not a well played game from me. But I can only congratulate Marignon for a well executed dominion push.

Hey guys - Public Service Announcement:

I notice you have Firewalker playing in your game here. Just want to warn you that he set himself to AI with no warning in Aquamarine and then abandoned the game and did not respond to contacts. Be careful...

Kheldron January 22nd, 2010 03:42 PM

Re: Corydalis - running

Since he just got permanently vanquished that shouldn't pose much problem ;)

Firewalker/Patala has been recently eliminated, but thanks.

Better this way tho :)

I'm eliminated too.

It was a fun game (although I didn't have the time to apply my "masterplan"^^)

I'm looking forward to other games with all of you ;)

Re: Corydalis - running

Well, I think I will be dom killed this turn by the most amazing dom push I've ever seen. In fact I think Kheldron may have this game. I had a great start and a good game but I didn't pay enough attention to my dwindling dominion until too late. Thanks all.

zzcat January 24th, 2010 11:31 PM

Re: Corydalis - running

It's the most prodigious dom push I've ever seen too. One of my province got 5 black candles in just one turn:eek:

Re: Corydalis - running

Well as you said, it only works on unwary neighbors, the closer the better. And I'd like to see you more dead than you actually are! ;)

What you don't know is how many arms it costs and how it tends to dilute with the distance. For the end game...
I wanted to test how good a strat it was for early-mid game. I guess it's worth it.

I notice that the turns have often been delayed for the last 10 turns or so. I think it would be fair - and simpler - to grant everyone a regular delay on a 48h quickhost basis ;)

I'm dead, so you need to choose a new admin. PM me for the password.

Sorry about the stales and delays, I was caught up in real life stuff and didn't handle my position as Admin in this game very well. Appologizes, and I've learned my lesson, it would have been much better to change the timer.

I enjoyed the game anyway, good luck everyone left!

OK, I'll sub as admin then. Thank you for having launched this game, Fantomen, and good luck for the next ones :shamrock:

As you can guess, I've just switched the delay to 49h quickhost. We'll try to stick to it until turn 50-60 or so, then we will switch to 75h quickhost as late game management can be time consuming for the few happy guys still alive :D

As usual, delays granted on demand (MP !) as long as the request comes in time (H-2 ou H-3 will be a risky challenge if I'm not connected ^^).

ghoul31 January 30th, 2010 04:17 PM

Re: Corydalis - running

Now I see why most LA games don't allow Ermor. You get 0 income for the cities you take. So even if you are beating Ermor, you are a sitting duck, and will be wiped out by another nation.

Tollund January 30th, 2010 04:26 PM

Re: Corydalis - running

Have you bothered to check out the graphs to see just how bad Ermor research is? And did you notice that my army, even though it is numerically superior, takes something like 10:1 losses against any kind of opposition?

Herode January 30th, 2010 04:29 PM

Re: Corydalis - running

Yep. LA R'lyeh presents the same drawbacks. BTW, if you start a LA game as a neighbourg of LA Ermor or R'lyeh, you will have to fight against their dominion & their military expansion without any chance to gain anything in return (if you win ^^). Unless you act as Marignon does. And not all nations can do it.

Gamebreaker, IMHO.

I confess I was reluctant to play this game since it allowed both. I tried my chance just because I was missing a MP Dom3 game at the moment, and I have been #very# lucky to start so far from both. But AMOF, I tend to avoid any LA + (Ermor || R'lyeh) game.

pyg January 30th, 2010 04:42 PM

Re: Corydalis - running

In this particular game Marignon is the one to beat and Ermor rates only a small concern, esp. for Marignon. If they dom kill me in the next few turns they have the game for sure. TC has a decent chance as well. Thanks for the education Kheldron!

Kheldron January 30th, 2010 05:30 PM

Re: Corydalis - running

Well that's a lot of "ifs" and I'm afraid that I'm not so confident. When you realize that your (so close) dominion survives even now as I'm doing my best, you know that this particular strategy won't get me anywhere against the others.

At the same time, I believe that TC at least doesn't feel like he's a challenger. Everything indicates he's the leader and will give us a wide berch in the next turns.

I must confess I never really felt that threatened by Rlyeh or Ermor though ;)

zzcat January 31st, 2010 05:24 AM

Re: Corydalis - running

Hmm, once you beat Gath whose dom score is merely 12 your gold and gem income will be doubled and you will be the unquestionable No.1 in the game, so it's too early to call me a leader...

IMHO it'll be a war between regular troops and angels/archdevils:(. If we were playing with CBM1.5 or earlier I think I have virtually no chance at all, but now I'll try my best:)

I noticed the server is still waiting for .2h files of Bogarus and Gath even if they have been defeated. Perhaps admin should force hosting now so we don't have to wait for 2 whole days...

vfb February 1st, 2010 02:07 AM

Re: Corydalis - running

Just PM the players and ask them to send their last turn in. Maybe they don't know they need to send their last .2h file in, and it only takes a minute.

Herode February 3rd, 2010 03:38 PM

Re: Corydalis - running

Well, 4/12 players left on turn 40, that's a kind of record for sure ^^

Kheldron February 8th, 2010 04:01 AM

Re: Corydalis - running

Well, I'm very tempted to surrender this game to TC.
You're the best hands down. Best tactician and now added to that best research with tons of versatile mages, flying artifacts-wielding SCs etc...
Sure I had some small victories but I always seem to fall in your traps while you avoid mines.
And even when you fall into it the AI or RNG takes a hand to help.

That arrow out of a mere handful landing on my adept of iron order, going through invulnerability (25armor!) to feeblemind him before he can triple-earthquake your army...bah. :(
Same as the turn before when a lucky arrow killed the last blood slave supposed to reinvigorate my angel before charging your army at 98 fatigue!?!

Would you believe I purposefully had teleported my god alone on your king of elemental earth, not just to kill him (he fled! have you ever seen a royalty flee before the fight? you lucky monster), but to bait you into sending a bunch of adepts and such to rain some stones on them, which you did!
Yeah that's why she was loaded with earth gems she didn't need in her previous script.
That is, IF the AI hadn't decided they weren't worth a rain of stones and cast some stupid things instead and ultimately kill her...

Do I sound frustrated?
Quite.

But I won't let you have so easy a victory!!! I'm still there and fighting. Come and get more!!!!!!!!! :D

zzcat February 9th, 2010 02:56 AM

Re: Corydalis - running

IMO earthquake will not be so effective against my high defense troops buffed with fog warrior... Anyway, it's quite lucky my black bow wielder hit your adept of iron order before he had chance to deal any damage:D

I think it's far too dangerous to make your pretender (and a lot of artifacts) a bait. Even if your RoS killed all S3 mages except one. he still has ~60% chance to kill her by magic duel.

Now the strategic map is quite funny. Everyone has some chance to win including Ermor. Let's see how things will be going on...

Re: Corydalis - running

Hey guys,

sorry but I will need a 24h postpone for this turn...and I'll be on the move all of next week so I might not be able to do any turn during that time.
I'll try, as I will take my usb key and try to find a connection but I can't be sure of it.
Can I have a 24h postpone now and a long postpone with quickhost for next week?

I'm really sorry to warn you so late but it's only been confirmed an hour ago.:(

Sorry, I didn't saw your post in time. By chance, you managed to aviod a stale turn anyway. In such cases, I recommend to post here AND to PM me, since PM are notified to my personal mailbox.

I will postpone the next turns for 140h until the end of the next week.

Thx Herode.
Indeed I came back home 5min prior to hosting and did my turn in a rush :)

Kheldron February 24th, 2010 04:59 PM

Re: Corydalis - running

Ok the game is basically over for me. There really is nothing I can think of to fend of zzcat/TC.
Your last plan against my communion to master enslave that never even went off was simple and brilliant.
Cheers.

If anyone thinks he stands a chance to win, I can play it to my painful death but, I might be mistaken, it seems to me zzcat has this game.

For my education, how the hell did you mind hunt my fallen angel with 25mr last turn? I don't know of any way to go higher than +5 penetration and you had him with a single cast. Pure luck or...?

zzcat February 24th, 2010 10:46 PM

Re: Corydalis - running

The green eye+eye of the void+rune smasher+a bit of luck;)

I don't know if remote rituals get any penetration bonus but it seems the chance of success is much higher than battle magic. Even mind hunts casted by the black mirror have ~70% chance to kill a normal commander...

As announced, if noone comes in to say they think they have a chance I will turn AI anyway as you're imo the winner zzcat.
