Hi!

its offtopic, but i tried all the other options:

I need a replacement partner in the prepo2 no diplomacy team game. the game has just started (12th turn) and with special independents it seems very fun. PM me if interested.

Grey,
One nice thing to do (when possible) is when you are the last duck in the boat (turn submission) ... wait 5 minutes, pick up the new turn and immediatly take your next turn. Of course this is not possible at times but when you can swing it... much appreciated.
Respectfully,

Dear Fellow Pretenders!

The unmoral hypocrite leaders of Marignon has show the white of their teeth.
Violating the NAP we had between us, they ordered their armies to attack, acting like a real weasel: cowardly and from the back, while scheming good intent. They surely consider themselves more intellectually capable for licking the hoofs of their Devil masters than navigate in the mazes of diplomacy by rules.

Perhaps its no coincidence they are in such an understanding relationship with the weak-moraled, covetous ctis who also share this habit of breaching agreements, of being unable to keep promises.

I after they shown how much their given word means, the non-agression pacts these devil-thralls signed with You are just as nonexistent as their intent to keep them when a little chance of gaining emerges for them.

there is a little confusion with the links in the first post (bonfire-->legolas).

thanks the link should be fixed now. If any of the other links don't quite go where they should please tell me.

Also I'm setting Ulm to AI. He's staled the last 3 turns in a row and it's unlikely we'll find a sub after this many stales.

Thanks in advance

My empire is under the collective attack of the dishonorable ctis, the backstabber marignon and the scavenger-hearted, arrogant illithids who joined the war when they thought there were just loots collect. They will find only death in my lands as i will defend it to the last standing man (Man :P).

I still have no allies myself.

I'd like to stress that ctis and rlyeh are 3rd and 2st in provinces owned even now and still has plenty of room to expand (with ulm outon their borders), they will be in a strong position should they triumph.

Leaders of marignon, what u will gain from this war is a sandwich from two strong empires, whom u will have no power to resist when the time comes.

Numerous troops of them are fighting in my lands (northwestern corner), so their borders elsewhere most probably lightly defended, great time for showing them .... what u wanna show them.

In search for a longlasting, firmly-based alliance,

I've just found out that I'll need to be out of town this weekend. If possible, I'd like to request a delay on turns posting between, say 19:00 Friday (Llamaserver time), and the same time on Monday. I should be back before then, but I prefer not to take chances.

I'm sorry to have to ask this right after a different delay, but this only now came up.

Delay is granted. Don't worry too much about asking for delays I'm not sure if I stated it in the op but the delay policy on this game was always meant to be fairly generous.

I'm going to delay the game 24 hours to see if a sub can be found for Marignon. I don't suppose I could convince you to do this one last turn Lann. It would help to keep the game from being delayed too long while we look for a sub.

Also anyone heard from legolasjrt. Midgard has staled twice in a row now. If Midgard stales again I'm going to set them to AI.

Bonfire August 5th, 2010 06:10 PM

Re: Gluttony - LA Game - Running

Looks like 13lackguard has agreed to take over Marignon. We may be delayed another 24 hours if 13lackguard needs it for diplomacy or to get a handle on the nation. Sorry for yet another delay but I really don't want to let a nation that's still viable die due to stales.

I'm tempted to try and find a sub for Midgard as well they don't look like they're doing too badly on the graphs and I don't think legolasjrt is still playing. He would have staled again this turn if I hadn't increased the timer. Might be hard to find a sub if he's already staled twice though. Anyone closer to him on the map have any thoughts on this?

Thanks Lann5555 for not just leaving the game without telling anyone. I think it's a lot easier to find subs if a nation doesn't have any stales yet.

whatever "peaceful" might mean in a wargame like this :)

and I think it the game really would benefit from finding a sub for midgard instead of one more too-early dead nation (like mictlan and ulm).

I'm all for delays, I've tried to help by taking 1 of the AWOL nations but it seems that you're in need of another, so we'll have to find somebody else as well. in the meantime I'll get myself acquainted with my new nation, and if any of you had former diplomatic or other agreements with Marignon please fill me up to speed.

Yeah some of my games are eating a lot of time including this one. I expected to be eliminated from at least one of them by now. It's probably about time we went a longer hosting schedule.

I've set the hosting interval to 48 hours. We could go to a 36 or 48 hour schedule. I kinda prefer 48 so we increase the timer in nice day sized intervals. Anyway post if you have a preference.

well, you created this whole situation in the first place. I'll give you 2 sentences of knowledge, the first you must recognize, the second is merely common sense.
1. every action has an equal but opposite reaction.
2. every action has consequences.

I'll let you finish doing the math :smirk:

Re: Gluttony - LA Game - Running

you (i mean marignon) attacked (backstabbed!) me in the first place. i wanted peace all along. now u are playing a suboptimal strategy for some mysterious payback. The AI would have played more reasonably.

13lackGu4rd August 31st, 2010 10:17 AM

Re: Gluttony - LA Game - Running

correction: the previous player backstabbed you than bailed out when things didn't seem to work for him. when I came in R'lyeh was already knocking at my doorsteps, and I had no income nor crossbowmen at the back to fight his hordes of chaff. my armies were concentrated on your territory with mages and whatnot, so I just kept going, especially after you told me yourself that you bribed R'lyeh and later Atlantis to attack me...

obviously if I was here from the begining I would have done things differently, but in this situation that I was given there was no escape, I was dead anyway as soon as you got R'lyeh+Atlantis to knock at my back door. so the only *sensible* thing to do is make you pay and try to bring you down with me... there was never redemption for this position.

now, I really don't appreciate your tone here, nor your blunt disrespect, even degrading me compared to the AI. so I'll finish by giving you a friendly advise, don't go running around burning down bridges, you never know when it will come around to bite you in the rear.

Nauquan August 31st, 2010 11:23 AM

Re: Gluttony - LA Game - Running

Ahhh - things are much clearer now. I was wondering what the heck was going on over there. You two should become best friends!

earcaraxe August 31st, 2010 02:13 PM

Re: Gluttony - LA Game - Running

blackguard: just three things.

-I have nothing to do with atlantis attacking you. I bribed only R'lyeh (who was attacking me at the time in cooperation with u) to make it 2 vs 2 instead 3 vs 1 (im being the one). Basicaly you took revenge on me for defending myself.

-I didnt compare u to the AI, but your deeds in this game, i consider it a substantial difference, i dont see any offense in objectively describing someone's deeds as i see them. I have no problem with you personally. I'm convinced the AI wouldnt have given up all his homeland to get revenge on someone, so it would have behaved more reasonably if we restrict ourselves to game terms when defining "reasonable". I believe there were some emotional benefits for you to gain thru your kamikaze invasion, so I'm sure your deeds were also reasonable if we take out-of-game dimensions into calculation.

-I'm also convinced u had other, more optimal choices strategy-wise. Even if I dont count the massive change in the political landscape that happened since you took over, which could have saved you. Tho i know it might be mine perception/opinion only.

(with no belligerent intention) earcaraxe

Well I'm out of this game. Real life is stopping me from having the time to play this game or even have more than intermittent internet access. I've sent in the current turn.

This game needs a new admin. If someone wants to volunteer that would be great. Otherwise I'm just going to send the admin password to the top 2 nations in terms of province count since should be in the game for a while.

Otherling September 1st, 2010 06:07 AM

Re: Gluttony - LA Game - Running

Just to make a few things clear from my end, with regards to Man and Marignon:

Man did not pay me or even ask me to attack Marignon. I made that decision of my own free will. My invasion was originally timed to start on the same turn that the previous Marignon player quit. I actually held back for a couple turns because I felt it a little unsporting to attack before giving the new player some time to settle in. At the time I knew only that Marignon and R'lyeh were both attacking Man, and indeed I thought there was a decent possibility that R'lyeh would be pulled into a war against me. I didn't actually find out about R'lyeh and Man's arrangement until just before I attacked.

Earcaraxe, you might be a little slower to criticize Blackguard, however. Granted, it's probably a bit annoying to have his army blazing through your backcountry, but his actions do make sense from my point of view (and his, one assumes). The heart of his territory is largely occupied, and he can't get his forces back quickly. Given the choice between throwing everything I had left at a powerful force, and carving out some new land, I have no doubt that I'd make the same choice. So, probably best everyone just calms down a bit, before someone says something they regret.

On an unrelated note, I see that Bonfire is no longer able to play. I'd like to extend a big thanks for starting this game and running things so far. For the future, is there anyone in particular who'd like to volunteer as admin? I'm assuming we'll need a few days before the next turn regardless, so as to find a replacement player.
