depends, how many neighbouring provinces do you have?

It's not the count of neighboring provinces that worries me... Oh well, the imperium has ever been under siege.

i hope its bogus, lol.

Wow, Bogarus's god got killed on the first turn. That's gotta hurt.

Heavy Cavalry? :P

It's also possible he's using an immortal pretender.

Peacekeeper December 9th, 2010 08:36 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [A coward always seeks compromise]

my guess is its a lich of some kind.

iRFNA December 9th, 2010 08:37 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [A coward always seeks compromise]

If it was immortal, how could he be sure that he'd have dom in the prov he attacked on turn 1... That seems like a crazy risk to take.

freepower December 9th, 2010 08:38 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [A coward always seeks compromise]

Goodness, learning interesting things here. :)

Maybe he's Dom10? I seem to get a pretty reliable ring of single candles from that.

And attacking first turn with any pretender always seemed super risky to me...

after wondering about this i went and tested. Combat seems to happen before dominion spread, so no matter what that pretender is RIPed. Seems none of us are having a great start this game, lol!

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [A coward always seeks compromise]

Sounds like it's just a normal pretender that got killed then. Are everyone's starting positions really that bad?

Mine is worthy of circumcised blood drinking death giants.

Thank goodness I picked Hinnom. XD

iRFNA December 9th, 2010 08:49 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [A coward always seeks compromise]

Ya, I think we're gonna have to put down hinnom before he eats everything...

sounds so far like someone just started in a bad spot, someone started with hard independant neighbours, someone had a bad event on turn 1 and is now having his capital sieged and someone lost their pretender on a turn 1 blind attack.

^ so a few people are doing well and keeping quiet. Someone has 2 provinces and is surrounded by rich farmland, no doubt. :P

You may find that CBM-noob-Hinnom is less terrifying than Vanilla-veteran Hinnom. :P

I have a corner start. Bwahahaha!

Also, I noticed that random events seem more painful in CBM. I'm starting to wonder if luck is still a good choice given the number of barbarian raids it brings (greater chance of events).

freepower December 9th, 2010 09:03 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Death be thy compass]

There are some amazing positive events though, like that one that gives 3k gold, a lab and a huge pile of gems.

I notice that my labs burn down ALL THE BLOODY TIME. >.<

Admiral_Aorta December 9th, 2010 09:07 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Death be thy compass]

If your mages weren't always handling flammable materials you wouldn't have that problem. You could also move underwater.;)

iRFNA December 9th, 2010 09:08 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Death be thy compass]

I think his problem is all the clumsy giants trying to cook each other for a quick meal.

theres a list of events and what scales need to be in provinces to have them. barbarians for example need either sloth or turmoil (i dont remmeber which but im going to go look it up).

freepower December 9th, 2010 09:13 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Death be thy compass]

Don't be daft, we don't cook em. Blood nation, remember? :P

Speaking of which, I must play more Abysia and see if their fire resistance translates to less lab rebuilding...

The manual or elsewhere? Sounds interesting!

There's an event list here: http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showt...ght=event+list
CBM's are probably a bit different though.

Does the "lab burn down" event occur to underwater races? That would be funny as hell :)

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Death be thy compass]

C'tissan Swamps are spreading. Very soon we'll have a sphere of influence marked out.

Attacking on turn 1 is pretty gutsy though. Something I don't do unless I'm beginning with a nation that starts with vastly superior troops.

Enjoy your festering garden while you can, plaguebearer. The rot of nurgle is no match for the Emperor.

Keep your peasants in their forests. If there you remain perhaps you can escape enslavement by your betters.

Hey now, there's no need to threaten each other. You should all come to R'yleh for a snack and we can talk it over. Just make sure you bring your brains.

Well I was as little scared when I saw that dead pretender but thankfully it is not me.

My first expansion was not bad, silly humans are no match for fir bolg. Though friendly fire rocks are always dangerous (singers kinda suck.)

lwarmonger December 10th, 2010 07:11 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Ignorance is a virtue]

Giants usually can expand much faster. Humans though, very dangerous. Especially if you happen to hit a heavy cavalry territory.

Some candles in the water maybe?

We really should stop using candles that can burn underwater.:)

Anybody's candles can go underwater.

Admiral_Aorta December 11th, 2010 06:23 PM

I know that, it was a joke.

How come we can come up with underwater candles but not a fireproof lab?

Also, hello my first neighbour! Snack sized people, what next?

lwarmonger December 11th, 2010 10:04 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Damnation is eternal]

I was talking more to Quell actually. Candles in the water doesn't necessarily mean underwater nation.

iRFNA December 11th, 2010 10:24 PM

Re: NewbsGoneWild: Uninhibited amateur action! [Damnation is eternal]

Who else would have a use for, much less have, underwater candles? Especially considering the technological hurdles involved in their creation.

Yeah of course, but early in the game it's more likely that the dominion is coming from an underwater nation, especially if there's more that one water province with the dominion.
