Dead seas means no pop nor sites UW. You can still capture UW provinces and move through/across them, they're just useless.

ok. We shall aim to start next Monday and we will use Squirrelloid WH map with dead UW.

Enjoy your weekend vacation. Rest well for on Monday you'd be sent to front lines ;)

I need to actually kill the seas yet =) So there will be another upload. (Going to need to look up how to do this, but i don't remember it being hard).

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 9 players

Sure. For some reason I assumed that killing the UW is trivial - something like search and replace some value. I hope it won't be too time consuming for you.

I don't recall it being time consuming, i just don't remember offhand exactly how to do it.

Squirrelloid, # 112 has three adjacent land provinces, and one adjacent sea province.

Ok, i've included in this post an attachment which includes the .tga file and 2 versions of the .map file. One is basically the previous version but fixing the province Aethyr noted (Squirrel Edition). The other takes it a step further and kills the sea (Dead Squirrel Edition). No sites, no population.

The latter is intended to be used for the game, but i didn't see any reason to not fix the one province and have a version with live seas available in case anyone wanted to use it.

Ok, i can't seem to manage to upload anything right now. Check this space later. Edit: ok, that's funky, it uploaded and didn't tell me it had done so. Awesome.

Game is on, http://www.llamaserver.net/gameinfo....DeadhouseGates

Set to 5 VPs. Please start UL/ing your pretenders.

Good luck all :)

This map hurts my eyes, I can't see my dwarven flag. Is there a way to grayscale my map?

Squirrelloid May 29th, 2011 02:20 AM

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 9 players

Lolomo: you can do whatever you want to the .tga so long as you save it with the same name. (Ok, i don't recommend changing the geography, because the .map file will still pretender provinces are in places that make sense in the current map, but if you really wanted to you could put a map of europe in the .tga, it just wouldn't correspond at all to the .map file in any useful graphical way). So use your favorite graphics program and turn it grayscale, should work no problem.

My pretender will likely be in Tuesday. Sorry, holiday weekend and all.

No hurry. Tuesday is fine.

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 9 players

I managed to lighten up the map a bit with Gimp. It's a little bit better now :) I might make the dwarf flag red so it stands out more.

A 10th person would work fine on this map.

You'll forgive me for asking, as i see you've been on the forum a long time, but how much MP experience do you have? And how familiar are you with CBM 1.84? I'll leave it to WL to enforce his non-new player requirement, but you might want to make sure this is the kind of game you're looking for =)

Catquiet May 31st, 2011 01:13 AM

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 9 players

I've played more than 10 multi-player games but... I haven't played for several years. Maybe it would be best if I spent some more time getting used to the new mods before jumping into this kind of game. Consider my application withdrawn.

WraithLord May 31st, 2011 01:50 AM

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 9 players

Catquiet, the game is supposed to start today. if you want in, you'd have to submit a pretender ASAP, today or at most tomorrow.

Please confirm your decision.

Nations joined so far:
Bretonnia
Itza
Altdorf
Ashdod
Sylvania

The rest, please submit your pretenders.

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 9 players

Pretender is in. I decided to go with Pythium instead of Pan since Pan's play style is unusual and I am a bit out of practice.

WraithLord May 31st, 2011 07:38 AM

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 9 players

Good timing friend, I was just about to delete the pyth. pretender thinking we have an intruder :)

And, I know many would disagree, but I am absolutely convinced that Pythium is the best all around nation. It's not good enough to justify early ganging and it's solid enough to lead all game long.

Welcome aboard and GL :)

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 9 players

Game: DeadhouseGates
Middle Age, max 9 players
Players so far: 6

Is that OK If we are 10 now?
Wouldn't anyone be left behind a board?

WraithLord May 31st, 2011 08:05 AM

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 9 players

Fixed. And set to 6 VPs since the idea is to have a bit above 50%.

four pretenders to go. Common guys, plz submit them today so we can start.

Sorry to be all over the place, but I'm going to withdraw. I've been looking over the new Warhammer mod nations to see what I was going to be fighting against and they all look so interesting. I'm going to wait for game where I can actually play one of the shiny new nations instead of just playing against them.

I am sorry but I am going to have to pull out. I am off on holiday at the end of the week.

I have a laptop and where I am going has broadband so I thought I could play while I was away but I cannot seem to get the game working properly on my Windows 7 laptop and I don't really have time to sort it out now.

Sorry!

llamaserver seems to be working now - at least I can carry out admin duties. Speaking of which, Catquiet I've removed your pretender.

I'm sorry to hear that Hoplo :(

Catquiet, If you wanted one of them shiny new nations this may just be your day as Hoplosternum's Tomb Kings is just waiting for a strong leader.

WraithLord June 1st, 2011 03:44 AM

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 10 players

ok. game's back to 9 players, 5 VPs.

Squirrelloid, plz send your pretender.
Catquiet, if you want to join as Tomb Kings please submit a pretender ASAP. You can consult with Trumanator's guide to get quickly up to speed.

Catquiet, if you want, we can switch. I already submitted a pretender for the dwarfs, but you can take that nation if you want, and I'll take the Tomb Kings.

indeed. I think it forces players to take more aggressive builds.

No I hadn't and thanks for that! It explains a lot. Both where I went wrong - installing to Programme Files :) and where I suspect all my Pretenders were being created as I certainly couldn't find them but I could select and play them :)

Enjoy this game everyone and good luck to Catquiet and the Tomb Kings and hopefully I will be able to join in Memories of Ice :)

WraithLord June 1st, 2011 02:00 PM

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 10 players

I do hope you'd join us for the memories of ice :D

Now, I've started the game and got a nice message from the server saying game would be created immediately and that the first turns would be sent. But, instead, the game went poof and promptly disappeared :(

Now, when I go to his URL on the server I get a "This doesn't seem to be a real game!" message or a "Sorry, this isn't a real game. Have you been messing with my URL?"

I'm not sure what to do. Perhaps PM llamabeast or otherwise recreate the game and resend pretenders.

llamabeast June 1st, 2011 02:54 PM

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 10 players

I'm on the case. It's because the map file has spaces in its name.

I'm having trouble playing my turn. It says

The following mod needs to be installed
Expanded_Nations_1.dm
*

I'm using the mod from your link which is Expanded_Nations_1_v1_02.dm. Is the server using an older mod or did I set up my mod incorrectly?

It took my turn. Is it possible you created your pretender with an older version?

Also, hopefully not an issue, but the invalid age part of this message doesn't look right:

"Hello from the LlamaServer!

This message is just to let you know that I received a 2h file from you, and it seems to be fine.

Details:

Game name: DeadhouseGates
Nation: Invalid Age! Era Sylvania
Turn number: 1

Who's sent their turn in:
Skavenblight Waiting for 2h file
Ashdod Waiting for 2h file
Ogre Kingdom Waiting for 2h file
Itza Waiting for 2h file
Sylvania 2h file received
Dwarfs Waiting for 2h file
Bretonnia Waiting for 2h file
Altdorf Waiting for 2h file
Nehekhara Waiting for 2h file

The turn will process when all 2h files have been received, or at the latest at 19:02 GMT on Friday June 3rd."

No, I have only downloaded the Warhammer nations once and that was from the file attached to this thread. Could you check your mod folder to see whether your file is named Expanded_Nations_1.dm or Expanded_Nations_1_v1_02.dm?

It appears that the game is not using the lastest version of the expanded nations. My dwarves still have the overpowered crossbows.

Yeah, looks like something went wrong. I did my turn quickly and didn't notice the prices and other changes were reset.

WraithLord June 2nd, 2011 01:11 AM

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 10 players

Thank you llamabeast for fixing this!
*Make mental note to remember that spaces are not allowed in map names*

As for the ENP version that the game is using. I just browsed the mod list and chose ENP, the mod also has a link that points to a post containing the latest version.
Still, evidently the mod on the server is actually the previous version.

So, I'll upload the new mod version myself and recreate the game.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience guys. Please ignore the current turns (and BTW, if you were able to play them make sure you didn't create them with ENP 1.01) and resubmit pretenders once I post here that the new game is created.

WraithLord June 2nd, 2011 01:19 AM

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 10 players

correction. I found it more convenient to unstart the game, UL the new ENP and alter the game settings. I will now restart it with the correct ENP version.

EDIT: Started game. Got msg: "Game started! Players should receive their first turns in the next few minutes.
Note that the game will remain in the "Waiting for pretenders" list for a few minutes until the game start is processed.

Return to game page
"
I hope llamabeast's fix to the map name will hold :)

EDIT2: The previous fix didn't hold and game disappeared.
llamabeast, can I delete the problematic map from the server and UL it with a proper name?
Or, can you please do your magic again and save the game (and the day)?

Aethyr June 2nd, 2011 02:54 AM

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 10 players

WL, I stupidly submitted a less than optimum version of my pretender. Normally, I would just make the best of it, but since it seems we must restart would it be OK if I sent in my preferred version before we start?

WraithLord June 2nd, 2011 03:27 AM

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 10 players

The game is gone now :(

There are only 2 ways to proceed:
1. Wait for llamabeast to automagically fix and start it (but then you'd be stuck w/ your "bad" pretender)
2. Wait for llamabeast to delete squirel map with the spaces, then I'll change it's name and re-submit it & recreate the game. Then we will all need to resubmit pretenders.

Any way, we wait for our saving :angel llamabeast :)

Catquiet June 2nd, 2011 04:55 AM

Re: DHG - Deadhouse Gates. Non NewB. 10 players

I wouldn't mind making a couple of tweaks to my own pretender as well.
