Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
My first turn was accepted, so it seems to work....
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
I will be gone from tomorrow to sunday evening.
Current turn is in. |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Im done. Playing a UW Nation i started in a small lake surrounded by land and could not get momentum at all. When my shapeshanging guys tried to take on heavy Infantry, they did fall like flies. I have turned myself to AI.

Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
I have never seen anyone succeed with oceania
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
I agree that Oceania + bad start location is quite a challenge...
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
This is why water nations are typically a bad idea on maps without fixed starts. If you end up with a capital in a pond you're screwed from the start.
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
If he started in the lake then is an error of the mapmaker. those should be no start.
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Torin, please change my email to dom3people@gmail.com.
My old email address be rejected by llamserver servral times. This make me sick. I'm MA VAN. |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
changed

Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Need E and N boosters
Can buy or better exchange on something LA Absy can forge with mages. |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
As for Oceania, I'm absolutely not agree that everything was done to survive.
1. Taum 2 spell ride the currents. Good way to get somewhere 2. Capricon mages can travel over the land and are stealthy 10, so moving to the sea through someone's territories is not a big deal. Ichtysatyrs also can do it. 3. We know the map before starting the game - pretender could be designed in a proper way - ieither proper for land conquire or for water thuggung. 4. Even if these options wouldn't exist, there is such thing as diplomacy. You've met at least 4 nations to the moment, and maybe more. And would be even more if you took water first. Dimoplacy is a great thing if you can't build armors and send to naked Chinese troops armed by only screwdrivers. I really don't like situations when someone givups this way damaging all the current balance. Nad givups on such an early stage wher really nothing even threatens the nation. Just someone will take land and the playr will be delayed in growth. But for the only water nation on the map it's not really a game braker. |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Oh, this sounds challenging. Did Oceania go AI? I was allowing travel through Ape Empire lands. That's unfortunate. Guess I need to guard my borders and figure out some way to attack the underwater castle...lolz.
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
I guess Oceania didn't have the "neightbours" filter on as there was a adjacent water province next to his capital. The AI took it straight away...
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
No harm was done to the games balance because i set myself to AI only after my land-based armies were scattered by two Abysia players.
The province south of my capital was water, but it had 60 Ichty Warriors in it and didnt offer a strategic advantage compared to the pain so i skipped it. militarist, dont assume i just gave up. I gave up and turned the AI when there was no more choice to make. I could have given all my gems to a friend, THAT would have messed up balance. |

Nah, what a way to wuss out, I'll stick it out till I'm dead. You learn something new every day playing this game, apparently Rag -X has a friend. |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Ragnarok-X, while I'm absolutely not agree with your logic(yuo still have capital which produces gems and 25k pop, and someone will just have it for free), Torin didn't mention any strict rules for this game, the game seems to be created relaxed and newbie-friendly, so I I'm ok if he is ok, he is game admin.

Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Need som E gems (30 maybe) in exchange on something else (have a lot of F and some D). Is anyone interested in friendly exchange?
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Admin, I need to be on a business trip during Oct 1-5. Can I apply for a turns delay?
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
ok, delayed
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Thanks a lot.

Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Gentlemen,
I´ll be on a trip to the beautiful city of Dresden from Thursday to Saturday evening. Gonna have no internet access until Sunday morning ( GMT +1). A break for this period would be much appreciated. Thanks, Klaus |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
tratorix. are you still playing? you are staling and taking too long making the rest wait
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
It looks like we have a problem wth Patala player.
Hate to tell it, but such players is the reason I usually never join games which are not z7.invisionfre.,// -comunity based. In shrapnel-forum games, there is always someone joins who can't find time to play and doesn't respect other's time to care to find a replacement. |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
How's the weather in Hawaii?
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
I already moved from there to Switzerland :)
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Once more time I'd like to make an accent on Patala.
Here is another game where this player is playing, and his nation is really recongizable by stalling statitics. I would propose to Torin as game admin to either get some commitment from him or we need to find a replacement while its not too late. The player is currently in several games, and stalls everywhere - somewhere more somewhere less. Disappearing for weeks sometimes without any notifcation. Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
May I ask who has requested delay?
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Yea! Game on! This one rocks!
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
If Patala keeps staling it will break the game. So unless Patala shows up really soon, i say we get a permanent sub.
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Patala has staled 7 times during the game, and hasn't asked for a time extension once, I think. Yet he has played some of the turns recently.
Hasn't been on the forum for a week either. tratorix, what do you say? Can you play more turns, or will you relinquish your nation? |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
I won't be signing up for any games with tratorix in the future. One player has just decided to declare WAR on all his neighbors. Likely because he doesn't like the pace we're setting. Delays in the game are understandable. Unfortunatly, holding up the game week after week is poor sportsmanship showing either a lack of respect, or a lack of maturity.
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Ditto.
Not only is his staling a problem, his immature approach to the game and diplomacy as well is just as big a problem. |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Should we put the game on hold until a sub is found for Patala?
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
My vote is 'No'. We've already paused the game for two 5 day cycles. Lets play the game already. It would be nice to have a sub for Traitorx though. Maybe just nobody attack Patala until we find a sub. (Poor Sub)
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
i did set myself to AI and then tried to take over patala. i will try next turn and possibly turn it to AI
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Give us a notice before turning Patala to AI.
Thanks for running things Torin! |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
May I ask a delay? I'll be out for the next 2 days (56 hours to be precise). Thanks!
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
since im already out of this game i will need someone to take over as admin
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Thanks for creating this game Torin. It's been really really FUN!
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Did we get a new admin? I think we should increase the hosting schedule to 48h. We are already at turn 40 and playing takes more time.
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Agreed!,
I nominate Hurmio as new admin! All in favor? |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Anyone so long as it ain't me. :D
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
How about this....since we are playing random factions, we should have Torin roll a random Admin!

Fine with me.
48 hrs is a good idea. |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Seems like Torin has disappeared. I hope he comes back as i'm having some trouble with this hosting schedule.
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Hang in there man! It's a brutal schedule, but a great game really.
If anyone spots Torin around in chat channels somewhere, please ask him to give Hurmio admin! Thanks |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Torin is more active in the invision forum, maybe we can reach him there
I agree, 24h is fun but quite short after 40+ turns... |
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Its weird, I dont receive any answer from the server when I send my turn. I am the only one?
|
Re: Talon of Fear - Random nations - Started
Nope, i've had the same. Something wrong with llamaserver i guess. In other news, Torin is still AWOL. I'll be away for few days next week, so unless we get the admin pass i'll be staling 2 or 3 turns.
