From your posts it sounds like your running windows and hiding the task bar and if your read the manual and the posts on the forum you’ll understand that is a no-no. It also sounds Ike your adding the game settings to borderless gaming and not the game. |
Re: Experimental winSPWW2 EXE--May 15, 2018
And we added a check on auto-hide that asks if you want to try it if it finds auto-hide on, that is there for the 1% or so whose video driver (or whatever) will happily co-exist with windowed mode and auto-hide. Those few folks are in the "hens teeth" category of rareness, but the pop-up dialogue box was added for these few.

Been using the experimental exe since May, and here is some interesting (?) screenshots from some of my scenario playtesting.

Re: Experimental winSPWW2 EXE--May 15, 2018
After a severe illness I am back and amazed at what I've forgotten. I'm trying to download and install this experimental patch on a purchased copy upgraded to the most recent versions. When I get to unzipping I get a message that says "the program can't start WINVFX8.dll is missing." The it tells me to reinstall the program. Are they referring to the game or the Winzip app?
I don't speak computer much but I've played the game since the original SP. Any advice would be appreciated. |

The error you get will be given if you extracted the game exe supplied to some random place and double clicked on it. None of the support files (maps, DLLs OOBS, etc) will be there of course!. Follow the instructions given by Don in post #1 of this thread to install, and you will be fine. 1) Have a working copy of the game, patched and up to date 2) Rename the game exe in there as described in post 1, if desired 3) Unzip the zip file, ensuring that the extraction path points to the game main folder (easiest way - firstly copy the zip to the folder and then use the "extract here" command) |
Re: Experimental winSPWW2 EXE--May 15, 2018
If you extracted the experimental EXE to your game the timestamp for the new EXE in your main winSPWW2 folder will be 2018-05-15 and if it is and this copy of the game was already patched to ver 11 it should run. Normally a "WINVFX8.dll is missing" message only occurs when it's run from a folder with out all the game .dlls ( there should be 34 other DLL's in the main winSPWW2 folder along with the EXE)

Did you get it working ?

Re: Experimental winSPWW2 EXE--May 15, 2018
So thanks to some help from Aeraa and DRG, I figured out how to post images a bit more correctly:
Some screenshots from some of the scenarios I am creating in progress... FYI that Icon 1234 you used for "Autumn Panthers" has been changed to
http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/attac...1&d=1533132296 ......and the Trucks have been redone as well |
Re: Experimental winSPWW2 EXE--May 15, 2018
Thanks Don, could you list what 1234 was changed to? (the number). Also with the trucks. I have been 'poking' around, and found that one.

Re: Experimental winSPWW2 EXE--May 15, 2018

as for the trucks........ IDK what icon number is that one as they all have been upgraded AFAIK that one you showed has been revised and upgraded and does not exist any longer |
Re: Experimental winSPWW2 EXE--May 15, 2018
Cool they can roll out with the next release next year. The Icon's I selected for now are fine, unless the scenarios don't auto update or some-such.
thanks again. |
Re: Experimental winSPWW2 EXE--May 15, 2018
If you have changed an icon the "changed" flag is set and that is the icon number that will be used in perpetuity.....if the icon has not been changed the scenario will take whatever icon is currently being used by that unit in the OOB so in the case of the trucks if that is an icon I have "bypassed" in that it was left in the SHP files but another series is being used in the OOB's then that is the one that will show up in your scenario and as far as I can tell that one you used has been changed a bit but not enough to change is applicability to that unit. For that one it was a redo of the canvas top but the medium trucks have a new series that is sized better than the old ones

I am happy the added zoom in levels seem to be getting the use I thought they would.

Re: Experimental winSPWW2 EXE--May 15, 2018
Took a break from the OOB grind to indulge in a bit of Icon silliness/whimsey ......
