A final example and I know this is only of interest to a tiny minority but.........

This was a very quickly put together example:

The top is the SU-85 in the game now
The next three were unchanged for brightness but had the new green 3 washed over it .... then number 1 and number 2 green then the palette applied

https://forum.shrapnelgames.com/atta...1&d=1645303705https://forum.shrapnelgames.com/atta...1&d=1645303805

The trick does not work so well with the old greens. It can be done but when viewed in the game doesn't give that hint of green the new one does. Part of the reason is the new green has bigger steps between tones. I had to do it that way to keep map issues , and headaches to a minimum

I was pleased with the effect on the glider. It has a "worn" look although in reality they never lasted long enough to get worn looking....

A final example of a T54/55 in as close to a WP/ Yugoslavian green as I can get

https://forum.shrapnelgames.com/atta...1&d=1645369433

Though there is a wide variety to choose from

https://forum.shrapnelgames.com/atta...1&d=1645370393

These are converted to game palette colours
https://forum.shrapnelgames.com/atta...1&d=1645370738

And this is what you get when the top right colour sample example is blended with the tan over the green at 20% density and 20% opacity

https://forum.shrapnelgames.com/atta...1&d=1645371164

Something perhaps even closer if even just a small degree

There is a LOT that can be done with a 256 colour palette

These were all variations on the one above blended with the tan over the green at 20% density and 20% opacity medium-dark to light

https://forum.shrapnelgames.com/atta...1&d=1645372268

And the right side vehicles are the same as the left except for a low density and opacity wash of white then the palette applied

( I REALLY like the T54/55 Icon.....):D

Apparently the rare Soviet SU-26 assault gun came with two DT machine guns in its shield, which are not in the game.

The vehicle was also reportedly still in use in the attack on Finland in 1944, in low numbers.

This is the photo used in the game shows a production model being built

https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/wp-co.../2-640x402.jpg

When the photo is inspected and compared to the restored example shown above

https://forum.shrapnelgames.com/atta...1&d=1685191410

That does look like the DT mount

And this confirms they were mounted during the war

https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/wp-co...017/03/6-1.jpg

That photo is captioned
Quote:

Two DT-29s can be seen on either side of the gun.

and ..........

The gun shield had a hole for the KT-28 gun in the center, with two small ports on either side of it, in which two DT-29 machine guns could be mounted. Normal operation of the mount was with the gun facing to the rear of the machine to allow for greater crew mobility. However, the vehicle could also operate with the gun firing forwards.
However

These photos DO NOT show them mounted

https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/wp-co...017/03/5-1.jpg
https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/wp-co...26-640x413.jpg

Given only 14 were made some obviously did have them and some did not so what is in the game is correct based on those last two photos but I will change the photo and add the DTs and change the end date to 1/44 because it is highly unlikely that having them or not is going to change the outcome of a game

Give it time........ It might show up in Ukraine......

Re: Soviet OOB11 - 2020

Fine by me, except I would extent availability to at least August 44, because the guns were used during the Vyborg offensive.
