Thanks T, I'll make those changes tonight.

Just out of interest, do you (or anyone else) have all of those races installed on your HD at once? That would be impressive.

I currently have 132 races installed, totalling >300 meg!

ZeroAdunn April 23rd, 2003 10:39 PM

Re: desesperatly seeking races...

You are correct about the Pyrochette, however, there were three Versions, there was one with a different race portrait, and another that was gray instead of brown/tan.

I do have a tendancy to label things protrait for some reason, I don't know why I do that....

Anyways, the Galactic Command (G) is gone. I no longer have the finished shipset, nor do I care to pull the files out of storage and rerender them.

The old turians to which you reffer is actually the new turians, the ones I uploaded recently were the old turians, I labeled the other shipsets turians simply for lack of a better name. The ships you ask about though are being used as the basis for another shipset though, so they will be rerealesed sometime in the future.

Yes, the "Ultimate Mod" was never released, just a "Preview" If the Ultimate mod had everything Hadrian said it was going to have, then yes, it was probably the Ultimate mod, if it just continued in the form of the Preview, then it was far from ultimate.

Hadrian had nearly completed the UM, IIRC it had been in a state of polishing. What slowed him down was the need to develop new racesets, scenarios and other nice things to have in a mod.

I found a race missed off the race dir: Phoenix-D's Cluk Ruk Protectorate. It might be named after a neutral empire, but it is a full and original race, and a really good one at that.
http://seiv.pbw.cc/Download/filelib/470/Cluk-Ruk.zip

Actually, that makes 133 races installed - I didn't count this one because it is in my pictures/raceneutral folder.

*dogscoff hurriedly downloads another half-dozen races just to top Fyron http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Thanks dogscogff, I 've asled phoenix D to host it, that way it will gain notoriety.

I have many shipset on my HD indeed, but i would be unable to tell how many (about 70, I think). Everything is mixed in several Versions of SE IV or in external folders, or it's still in zip format. It's a real mess. I'll have to create a CD with all that stuff clearly arranged one day.

So I don't own all the shipsets that are previewed on the racedir; Andres have sent me many preview pics I was unable to find, and I grab some directly from the zip file without copying it to my computer.

I have in project to get all shipsets on a cd, to prevent them from disapearing when a site close (the death of SE.org has given me a lot of work to find all shipsets that were available on it).
But it's a huge and neverending task, as a new shipset or new Version of a old one comes out every week.

ZeroAdunn : about turians : COMWEALTH and TURIAN are the same race, you confirm ? I will change that on the racedir.

About "protrait" : Maybe the first signs of dyslexie ? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif I'm used to writing "thaht" instead of "that", I don't know why too.

Anyone else owns this mysterious "G" race ? (I've got to ask to my Last hope, Andres; he's going to hate me, being sollicited every two days for another shipset) Well, I'll have to put the "L.I.A." status on it. One more I couldn't save from oblivion...

Sooner or later I'll get round to requesting the same change of all mods.

Oh, and if Phoenix-D isn't able to host the ClukRuk himself, I'd be honoured to have them on my site.

well, if you want to host it, no pb for me, ask him yourself and tell him to ignore my Last message. (send a private message, I don't have the email address)

If I could change something on the cluk-ruk, it would be the tiny transport : it has the same size as the small transport, it just have to be resized to be OK.

Wait. You put the pictures in the NEUTRAL directory? Ah well, that's what I get for not making an AI. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Anyone's welcome to host it if they want. I may look at revising the set later, but not at the moment (my bryce skills have gotten rusty, heh)

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yeah. Well, like you say, it has no AI. Also, I didn't want to have the situation where the Clukruk neutrals and the Clukruk regulars appeared on the same map. I could have removed them from the neutrals but I have precious few of those anyway. So I moved your set into there.

They are in one of my proportions games right now and they are looking very very cool.

Also, can you eliminate all links to Shrapnel uploads pages, and replace them with direct links to the files? I could not find the Brachyura or Corrian set from those links....

Could you please remove the read-only attributes of all ship sets hosted on SOTAS, such as the Federal Union? There is no reason for them to have that attribute, and it makes downloading a new Version more difficult than necessary.

You missed the Kobaia shipset, which is in the PBW file library.

The Nloam sample pic is missing the smiley next to it indicating it has a preview page on SOTAS.

The page for the Nu'Wam Partnership has no images, nor a download link.

The Vasudan set is on this page, not where you have it linked: http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/For.../000017-5.html

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">THere was no standard for additional sat images when you made the set- you were the first.

Now there is mlmbd's ++ standard which includes the extra sats but names them differently to the way you did. He's already released (at least) 2 compatible sets, and I'm working on a third.

ALl we have to do now is get modders to alter their mods to use the images- just have satellitesmall, satellitemedium, satellitelarge sat as the primary image and satellite as the secondary for all of them. THat way the mod stays fully backward-compatible but supports extra images. The same thing can be done for mines and drones.

Hey, Trooper -- I just ran afoul of a bad link in the Directory.

Y'see, I got ALL excited when I read that there was a "Dark Pyrochette" ... I rather like the Pyrochette ships, and the thought of a DARKER set like that, well ... let's just say, I wasted no time rushing over and downloading it.

Unfortunately, the link doesn't point to the DARK Pyrochette, but rather, to the NORMAL Pyrochette.

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Look for yourself, the two links you have for Pyrochette at SGIF are the same.

Hopefully someone can point you (and, therefor, ME) to the right place to get the Dark Pyrochette. I really want them, especially as I'm getting more and more into playing team games ... and being able to have myself and my partner use the same basic shipset, just in different colors, would be QUITE nice, IMO. 8)

BTW, in general -- I'm glad to see you're making a home for those shipsets that had become un-hosted. It'd be a shame to see the diversity of SE4 shipsets start to decline ...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That's exaclty my way of thinking. But time is fighting against me, it's very hard to find some shipsets indeed.

Dark pyrochette is an example : unable to find it at the moment (Andres, Fyron... ?)

If you want to play in teams with the same race in different colors , I would suggest you use Jraenar stock race, it exists in four colors.(see Green Yellow, Orange, Purple Lizards). Or you can create your own fleet.

ZeroAdunn : finally got the modified G race from Andres. With a light race portrait (I saw a lot of them in zip files recently, who owns the rights ?), it could make a suitable race ("white and pure" concept, or neutral race). May I host it ?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">You need a _ in front of new. It should be "Target="_new"". Otherwise, it can confuse IE, as it looks for an existing frame named new. When it fails to find it, it makes a new frame in a new window. The "_" tells the browser that this will definitely be a new frame, not an existing one. This might be what causes the problem. Or it could be something else.

The Pyrochette were a race on the SE Universe Ladder run by Grand Mausic Yith Saulkar. I am fairly certain that Yith Saulkar (take out his title) was the author of the Dark Pyrochette set.
