Re: Caelum NOT to rise again

As the turns in this game are already in the 90's, if you do not need the full 72 hours, please send in your turns. There is no real need to take long turns when the only action is mopping up caelum on AI.

Mopping up Caelum

Surely dividing up the few remaining scraps of Caelum's domain is keeping the diplomats of Pangaea, Marignon and Ermor incredibly busy http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Such rich pickings to be had http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Xietor and I have been thinking that the 72 hour timer makes the game move too slowly - I find that the interval is such that it kind of loses my attention (and I end up doing a shoddy job - I've now attacked Caelum three turns in a row with some SCs on retreat orders! Aaagh!). How would people feel about moving it back to 48 hours to get some pace up for the dramatic endgame?

So what do people think about 48 hours?

In other, sort of contradictory news, I am off on Saturday to Edinburgh for a week to do improvised comedy at the Fringe Festival - which is kind of exciting since I've never done stuff anywhere but the student theatre before. Anyway, is it okay with everyone if we pause the game for a week?

I have mixed feelings about moving back to 48 hours. I do agree that the game was more involving when the turns were every 48 hours. On the other hand the past couple of weeks have been very busy at work. This has been such a good game that I don't want to do a half-hearted job in my last stand. Having said that I'm Ok with 48 hours and if we do stay with 72 I'll make an effort to have my turns in within 48 hours.

As for the other question, we should definitely pause the game while you are away.

The rlyeh have given me my 3 turn termination notice of our nap. Poor Pangaea, at war from the start to finish. Peace has been elusive for the Forest People.

Re: Mopping up Caelum

Okay, I have taken my turn. I've set the next turn to occur 8 days after the coming hosting, at which point I should be back and raring to go.

Oddly enough I just managed to spend a good deal longer on my turn than I have for a while, and I enjoyed it loads. My conclusion is definitely that Dominions is by far more enjoyable when you put time into thinking about your turn. And also you're all DOOMED! Apart from my allies, of course.

Having said that about taking time on turns I would be keen to try for 48 hours again when I get back (since Dominions is also at its best when it's pacy). What I suggest we do is leave it on 73 hour hosting, but say that we will try to take our turns within 48 hours. Then if one of us is too busy it doesn't matter hugely, but there is some chance the turn will go after only 48 hours (since noone but Xietor normally submits their turns early).

Post some pictures of the play! You do not even have to be in any of them!

He has a very solid position. if you want in the big game with a good position, now is your chance! It is on 48 hour host.
