Also, once it is clear that you have lost you have the potential to make yourself endlessly annoying if you set your mind to it.

Korwin did a pretty good job on me (Sauromantia rampaging through the wilds of Hinnom) in my first game.

Learning from that experience, I am having even more fun as Ashdod in an all nations, all eras game. Its amazing how nice it feels to torch your tormentors temples and then run away as they chase you. :nana:

So I know the game is all about winning, but to be honest you can have about the same level of fun even if you are getting boned. Then you can ascend to Dominions 3 heaven  safe in the knowledge that all of your enemies truly hate you :D

Just wanted to let everyone know that I can no longer keep the game at 24 hours... running a successful empire is a lot of work. I'm going to change it to 48 hours.

Sounds good. I am starting to struggle with running a fairly mediocre empire on a 24 hour time limit, so if you are actually successful I can see it would be even more time consuming :-D

Being in three games myself now, I happily accept the new 48h clock

Well, Agartha made a darned good showing in the battle for his capital, especially given that he was outnumbered about three to one.

In the end, the massed hordes of undead, sacred vestals and legionnaires from Ermor were to much even for the brave Pale Ones of Agartha, but it wasn't for lack of trying or bravery on the part of Zend Kuh's people.

Basically due to me not knowing that routing isn't determined after each fight he cut off an escape route I figured would be safe.

I lost 16 mages and 100 hoplites in the turn. He's sieging one of my forts too. And your cap ain't under siege anymore. Well, it is, but its just a scout lol. My mages on your side are cornered. If both of you just keep pushing a bit I'm sure you've got me haha.

I still can't believe T'ien'chi went about this the way he did... I mean... Assaulting Arco with traditional armies (90% archers at that!!!). That's insane, its expected I'd have had elephants which would slaughter them and would just trample. I expected his expectation that he didn't have and wen't anti-mage/general army.

Lesson learned. Just mass elephants in the beginning and slowly transition into mages. This game has been a huge boon to my learning that not everyone thinks about elephants from the start.

Massed archers are generally considered a far better counter to elephants than infantry as they all get to attack and elephants go down pretty quick with enough set on fire monsters. Armored hopolites on the other hand are almost missile immune thanks to shield + high prot.
Generally I find you want a squad of elephants (maybe a dozen) then the rest it more conventional units. That means the opponents is forced to counter the elephants at the expense of being able to fight your infantry.
Also don't forget the trick of putting hypnatists into elephant squads to boost their morale.

In other news it turns out I have to go away for four days (8th to 12th.) I will take a portable install and will do my best to get turns in but I don't know exactly if/when I will be able to.

Alright guys something big just occured in my life and I wont be able to continue this game. I'm terribly sorry but I've got to drop out as I no-longer have the time (and possibly the ability to access) for the game

I'll try to find a sub as quickly as I can.
