Re: Gryphin and Growltigga Thread

I have been thinking of races to play.

I think I am settling on a Engrish 80's to early 90's arcade video game race.... Impulsive of course.... What your going to do when dig dug come for you........... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

minus the crappy humour. Tasteful humour only.

Are we doing PBW or PBEM? I have been in a PBEM with three people and it does move slowly. However, we have also said we have to wait for all three of us to put our turns in.

I have never played PBW, but I understand it is pretty slick. That, combined with choosing a host for PBEM, makes me lean towards PBW.

I am up for starting right away, but if we want to wait for Gold I can live with that.

These are just my suggestions:

medium size galaxy
three starting planets
low tech start
5000 racial points
infinate resources
no ai races (then again, maybe...)
role playing in all communication (actually, I have never done this, does it get tired?)

I figure this will be fairly crowded and see some action early. We can really work on getting unique races and focus on each other, rather than the Krill.

"medium size galaxy" depends on player #
three starting planets- good
low tech start- good
5000 racial points- I prefer 2000 myself, but this would work
infinate resources-good
no ai races (then again, maybe...)-they make wonderful punching bags, but that's about it.
role playing in all communication (actually, I have never done this, does it get tired?)- I wouldn't try to enforce it, but I'd do it anyway http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I'd say wait for Gold too. New stuff to throw people off http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif And do it on PBW. I can host, if no one else is up for it.

My Take:
"medium size galaxy" depends on player #
three starting planets- good
low tech start- good
racial points- Either works for me
infinate resources-good
no ai races = Maybe the EEE? a Hive Race and a Neutral for Mephisto to take over if / when he has time.
role playing in all communication - Might be fun
I'd say wait for Gold too. works for me
Anyone with experiance with AI races in PBW games?
Over all, I'm flexible.

When you say med are we talkin 100 systems ??

3 planets---good
low tech--good
racial points--does not matter.
no ai races == good ... who needs them.
wait for gold == yes. I think this is the best way to test it.

I have two pbem friends who want to join.... They both role play.

PBW is good.

Hey, hey, I'm finaly done with the unmitigating work load, ugh...

Med sounds ok to me, but we may want to change to large depending on how many players we end up with. I'm for waiting for gold as well, 5000 racial pts ok, rest ok, however, we may want to throw a couple of AI (enhanced ones) in just to make it interesting or in case Memphisto gets some time and wants to join in or mabye some others like SJ, Atrocities, Chewy, LemmyM, etc. This way we'll have some extra races for those who join after we start. Also I've never played with PBW or PBEM so I'll leave that up to those who have, never had time, just help me get started, I'm a newbie in these two areas http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif I'll go with whatever everyone else wants, Looking foreward to it....

I'll have to start thinking on my race, hmmmmm Psychotic, Scientific, Research groupies, http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

What about Star Destroyers, yes/no?, all warp points connected or???? What does everyone want or not want in the game????? What map?

just some ideas mac

Have you decided which type of law you want to go into? Criminal/Civil/? Money is in Corporate Law.

GT, Old Retrobate Huh, well you young whipper snapper, To enlighten one of such tender years, with age comes, knowledge, wisdom, & experience, in addition, as I continue to engage upon the healing of my injury due to the exhaustive research of which has been aforementioned in this thread, I have contemplated upon the possibilities that abound in regard to realizing the writing of a novel concerning the theories and hypothisis of the phenominum of "The Gryphin Position" which was brought foreward with the now known existance of the "Circle the Wagons" disclosure. Ahhh, the research for such a book would be emence let alone the revenues.
In closing GT,, say what you want youngster, but remember this, "THE TWINKLE" IS STILL THERE http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Re: Gryphin and Growltigga Thread

Right, I have just been told that March is a write-off for me from having any life outside work so waiting for gold will be a good idea

My spin on this

medium size galaxy - fine if this means 100 planets
three starting planets - awww... can't we just start with 1, I can never think what to call 3 homeworlds
low tech start - deffo
5000 racial points - how'sa about 3,000
infinate resources - definately
no ai races (then again, maybe...) - I agree with Mac (or was it guffin) the Eeee, a hive and anything bloodthirsty may let me live longer
role playing in all communication - has to be a strictly enforced pre-requisite of the game
star destroyers - no, I am a member of the sierra club
all warp pints connected - what sense does it make to have isolated systems??
type of galaxy - I like clusters, grid is pretty cool as well
what sort of game do we want? anything simple

As a point of principle, any game involving the G&G possee (ie regular contributors to this thread) should be heavily role played

I expect Grphyin to play a race of noble, proud, honorourable and sensitive people prone to wearing furry fellahs
I expect Mac to play a race of grumpy old tosspots miserable because they have lost their haemmorroid cream
I expect Saxon to play a race of hard working imperialistic despots
I expect Phoenix D to play a race of short wearing misogynistic androgonous female-offending humanoids
I expect Tesco to play a bunch of moose kissing dictatorial thread pushing types
I expect Mephisto to go eee-aaawwww all the time
you expect me to play a race of intelligent, sophisticated, suave and debonaire geniuses
