Hmmm, Gryphin, I thought you liked Custer, not Cluster...

...and as for big shiny belt buckles??

Anyway, I concur with the majority of your options list save for the Last section, which should be deleted in full and replaced with the following

lawyers get an automatic 10,000 points
canadians get an automatic 2,000 points and their choice of moose wearing lipstick
anyone over 50 gets 1,000 points and a haemorroid ring
mephisto gets a carrot

GT, are you serious, Lawyers over there only make that much, that's unbelievable. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif Is that the same all over Europe? I would have thought they made a lot more then that. Is there any reason they are so low paid and does that include private practice? (just curious) I agree, the disparity between them stinks,]

Well Mac, we do begin to earn a respectable amount more the more experienced we get but generally, lawyers in europe DO NOT earn anything like what US lawyers earn, nor to we charge anything like what US lawyers dfo - it is probably why european lawyers are a little bit more respectedd in the community than their US counterparts

it is what makes us so lovable http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

That should have been respected in their community.

Also in NYC it costs 100 dollars just to use the john.

All comes down to cost of living and experience.

And in the NYC if you spit out of a building your bound to hit a lawyer.

I believe this is due to the fact that the C.H.U.D.'s became unemployeed in the late 80's and decided that the profession of law was the way to go.

Unfortantly none of them read Hart or Holmes and the who ideology of 'Positive law' fell out the window.....

Joking aside.

size = 100 to 255 systems
map = ancient
Racial Points = 3000 or 5000
AI= NO
Tech = low
# of planets = 1
role playing = yes enforced = only demeanors.
colonize = all planet types
warp points connected = not connected ( the one where there are not many warp points but some )
restrictions = no PPP, ship capture or communications mimic.
Star destroyers etc.... == yes, protect your systems and suns.....
time for turns 48 hours at the beginning with the ability for the gamemaster to alter this time for certain instances.....
intel = yes

game === standard no mods...

well, if you hit me, I would sue you out of principle - unlike US courts tho, in England you would probably get damages of £50, your dry cleaning paid for and an apology unlike the $500,000 you would get paid in a US court for trauma

tesco,
any particular reason for these settings? Is this how you play against the AI?
Note: GT - Gryphins Take
colonize = all planet types
GT -Makes it too easy
warp points connected = not connected ( the one where there are not many warp points but some )
GT -I think since we have several new players this is not a good idea
restrictions = no PPP, ship capture or communications mimic.
GT -I really belive thees should be included. Asking them to be ommitted tells me something of your play style.
Star destroyers etc.... == yes, protect your systems and suns.....
GT -It would add a dimension to the game. Again with novice players (like myself), I would like them ommited. I also don't belive in them on philosiphical grounds. Yes, this is only a game. You can be sure The Gryphins would never build such a monstrosity and would declare war on any that did. If they are included in the game make sure you take ma out first, (if you are able).

In regards to PBEM or PBW, since I have never had the chance to partake in either, what basically is the difference in regards to playing and what equipment is necessary in order to play either one? As I humbly admitted earlier post, I'm a newbie in this regard and before committing to the type, I would just like to know the differences. Its the age thing again you know, as one ages gracefully, modestly, and most humbly, the mind is slow to pick up on things but, everything else STILL WORKS..(GT) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

just some ideas mac

M'Lady Fyre, Tis with sorrow that I read you would be unable to enjoin yourself within the upcoming bash of planets with all the accompanying mayhem that the universe has never seen on such a galactic scope before, however, do stop in and feel free to comment and join in on any roleplaying banter in this thread inregards to same.

PS. I'd make the old Gryphin take you out to dinner or let him do the cooking, I'm sure you could do with the rest and relaxation. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Equipment? Nothing special. Just go to the PBW web site and it will explain things..

On restrictions:
I don't like "house rule" restrictions. Basiclly, if it's in the game I WILL use it.

Now, if you want these things out that bad, I'll make up a quick mod, take them out, and run the turns manually. 100% fair, no accusations of doing an end-run around the rules, etc.

I'd also put in a vote for warp points anywhere in the system

Phoenix D
That works for me. I like warp points anywhere in system. It sorta makes it unpredictable and it is easyier on supplys if you plan it right.

to tigga

I would counter for trama due to the fact my spit was interrupted on its travel....

to gryphin.

The reason I mention ppp, ship capture and comm mimic is because these things don't work very well and are alittle unbalanced.... But if we want them we will use them...
Don't get me wrong I like intel.... I use it alot.

On the star destroyers... all you do is lock down your systems and protect your sun.. A couple star bases should do it with the system grav shielding device...

I agree with Phoenix-d once we figure out what we want.

Set everything up at the beginning and use it.

Worst case is the mod but pbem can handle it.

Warp points anywhere===yes.

When we get closer to starting the game we can start a new thread on the game......That way everyone can see what were doing...

Whoever is going to run the game can determine how to set up the parameters of the game....

I will play what ever the rules are.

P.S. the best way to learn about sun destroyers is to get hit by one....

Also what about random events....

I would like the system destroying one turned off so perhaps a low-low combo ????

That one has ruined many a game.... and it is cheezy... you can build stars and destroy them but you cannot stop them from being destroyed... go figure....

Mac.... In the mail yesterday I received a bottle of hot sauce... yep it went to Hockey town usa ( DET. MI) and then they sent it to me.... I asked at the Canadian post office what was up and they said it was a mistake, and shipped it to the return address. So I am sending it again next week.....
