My gem income has been horrible, despite searching, and that's a major stumbling block I'll admit, but weak? I'm not faring that badly overall.

Being in a far corner is both a blessing and a curse. It's harder to flank me, but it also cuts off my routes of expansion.

I'm still learning the ropes of course, this is only my 2nd MP game ever, but I'm hanging in there and having a great time.

No worries man, just had to say something. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I still am adjusting as I go to the MP style of play. I've had too many SP games where you can be rather "lazy" and still win. While I do not expect to win, I do expect to learn and have a good time.

Why is EvilHomer still posting? I could have sworn he posted awhile back that he was going to summer camp and had no internet access? And that a friend was playing his race.

I posted that a small change in my plans had occured as well. I will be playing 4-5 more turns before folket temporary takes over for 15-20 turns. (I might continue to post even during this time)

So, are scout reports missing on anyone else than me? Some of my scouts report as they should be, but about half are missing the box that usually says things like "This province has x hostile units, mostly archers. The PD is blah blah blah." Province ownership shows as do the battles that happened, only the current army count of the province is missing...

Burn the eye.
Burn it, blind it, pluck it out.

Knowing a R'lyeh deity, it has so much of them it won't be a big loss anyway.

So evil to even considering blinding random starspawn #23. With him blind our nation will surely fall.

It's happening to just one of my scouts. I assume (hope) it will fix itself next turn much like the scout report issues of turn 1.

Yeah, hopefully it'll fix itself. The alternative is we've hit the unit limit, which would be a bit more complicated. Were that the case the easiest solution would be that the nations with most troops should immediately start fighting each other actively.

You know, for the children.

I don't think this has anything to do with the unit limit (if it does exist).

Anyway, I think I remember someone saying (around the time game was starting) that older games did start to get buggy scout reports when unit limit was being approached. Hey, but, great game, and still going strong.

As a side note, my personal goal has changed from not dying within the first 40 turns to being the last Agarthan staying in the game. Underpowered eras to victory!

I'm guessing dominion 1 or 2 only so that you get uber blessed sacreds and ride on somebody else's good scales, since everyone pretty much bet on neutral to good scales. Except of course it's so easy to be destroyed in spite of whatever military success you might have http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Re: Perpetuality - The 60 Player MegaGame (Signup)

I decided before the game started that if I got LA Ermor and the cap actually kicked in I would put the nation to AI for the benefit of the game.

We are still well below the supposed cap limit (there are 62K units in the game currently).

Baalz June 25th, 2007 04:39 PM

Re: Perpetuality - The 60 Player MegaGame (Signup)

Dunno that going AI is gonna help at that point, presumably the AI will still generate the autospawns at a rate preventing anyone else from getting new units. Particularly if LA Ermor AND LA R'yleh are both major powers. I think we should just kill them both now. If the world dying/going insane wasn't apocalyptic enough, now they have a plan to make all women in the world barren!

I doubt an AI-driven LA Ermor would be much of a threat to a group of players dedicated to wiping it out.

Besides - If I'm wiped out early we'll never know for sure if a unit cap will affect us. Remember I've seen a score.xlm file showing much more than 100K troops in single game. LA Ermor need to live for the sake of science!

Xietor June 25th, 2007 04:57 PM

Re: Perpetuality - The 60 Player MegaGame (Signup)

If Ermor does not send me tribute, science or not, it days are numbered.

And I appreciate the gems/gold i received from a few nations last turn. Rest assured that it will be spent dooming LA Ermor to the abyss.

I especially like the message from ------, along with the 21 air gems, that said, "I am glad someone other than Honey Badger is standing up to Ermor."

Keep the gold/gems coming. In time I will destroy Ermor. The Supply items are not really useful quite yet, as I am not into LA Ermor's death dominion, so hold off on those in favor of raw gems.

Meglobob June 25th, 2007 06:49 PM

Re: Perpetuality - The 60 Player MegaGame (Signup)

I agree with Baalz in that if we reach the unit limit and I believe we will that putting LA Ermor on AI would not solve the problem. Indeed it would make it far worse, as the AI would recruit cheap chaff as well as the freespawn.

If we reach the unit limit LA Ermor and LA R'yleh have a duty to fight each another with there huge armies of chaff, so all the other nations can continue to recruit units.

By then you should both be recruiting quality units, so its in both your interests too... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Is it possible to rehost the turn?

I did not receive any gold income at all this turn, but should have received quite a bit, plus some extra due to two good events. There were not any bad events cutting income.

This appears to be a new bug, and I'm curious ro see if others have been affected this way, too.

Shubburath has been released! We take you live to his basement just moments before the door ws opened..

Starspawn 1:"I found the keys! I got them right here!"

Starspawn 2:"This is excellent news! Where were they?"

Starspawn 1:"Um....."

Starspawn 2:"They were in the lettuce crisper like I said all along weren't they?"

Starspawn 1:Tries to whistle innocently, which is impossible without lips. "Maybe..."

Starspawn 2:"Nevermind. Just open the door so our mighty lord from beyond can be free!"

Starspawn 1: Turns key in lock. The door pops slowly open and....

Shubburath:"I've been trying to tell you guys that the keys were in the lettuce crisper for months! Never use lead doors in this place again, got it? I need to use the litle fungus room, excuse me for a second."

Starspawn 2:Glares at Starspawn 1.

Starspawn 1:"Ok. Ok! They were in the crisper already. I'll go buy the beer now."

Starspawn 2:"Man, trying to welch on a beer bet? Not cool at all man."

Velusion has my password and can verify this. If I am the only one affected this turn and my income comes back next turn I suppose I can deal with one turn's loss of income.

I do not want to inconvenience the other players with a rehost, but if the loss of income continues, I'm afraid my nation suddenly becomes unplayable due to this new bug.

Velusion June 26th, 2007 11:29 AM

Re: Perpetuality - The 60 Player MegaGame (Signup)

If there are multiple people this is happening to I can consider it - but to rehost a turn would be a problem on a logistical level at this point. Between communication and making sure everyone deleted their current turn it wouldn't be fun.

The big 10/10/10 plan was simply to crush a few nations with my Niefels, expand beyond my bad scales, and then use my non-capital werewolf-mages as my main army, instead of the Niefels. With those scales, and decent equipment (including Shroud for the sacredness, ofcourse), they're almost the equal of a Niefel Jarl in combat, but also faster, cheaper, more versatile, and stealthy.

War rages over the land, while the water races no doubt continue their peaceful expansion of neutral provinces.

That was why I stated when the game began that the map strongly favored the water races. So it is balanced a bit that
two of the newer players opted for the relative safety of the murky depths, while the wily mp vets maneuver, use back room diplomacy, and every trick in the book to gain more land provinces-at the expense of neighbors!

I love MA R'Lyeh and I wanted the relative safety of the water in my first massive MP game like this, so I chose it as my number 1 pick. I am engaged in a fair amount of diplomacy, but rather quietly.

The west is not quite as peaceful as appearances may at first reveal. MA R'Lyeh has been able to work on annexing the neutrals, but many of my neighbors and near neighbors are hammering the heck out of each other.

While inspecting my provinces this turn, I was a bit embarassed to discover the cause of my loss of income last turn. Seems that one of them inadvertantly gained quite a few PD instead of having its taxes raised to 200 per cent!

The good news for this game is that it was not needlessly interrupted and that players probably don't need to worry about a possible bug affecting income.

My apologies to the other players for jumping to a wrong conclusion when I noticed I had less gold on hand than expected.

It is doubtful one nation has enough gems/paths to buy up all of the artifacts in 5-10 turns.

In a game like this, virtually ALL the unique artifacts will be snapped up very quickly. Playing LA Agartha, I managed to build virtually every unique artifact by or before turn 25. I was a relative newbie then so I did not have a clue what to do with them! Its was just a case of denying them to your enemy. Was really annoying having your lab filled with unique artifacts and not sure how to use effectively most of them.
