Well since the consensus is that we all missed the 100,000 post party, I hereby suggest/move/put foreward for vote, that the Cantina, herebye hold a bash to celebrate the 100,000 post. All costs to be put on MM and Shrapnel's tabs, and that the party shall commence upon hmm, say on Thursday the 13th, in order that everyone shall see the invite. I also put to vote that GT, Gryphin, Dogscoff and Taz be put in charge of the refreshments and entertainment, David G to create a 100,000 Mural for the cantina wall over the bar,
Timstone to see that time stands still for the party, and Rags and Rd for bouncers.. Sorry guys, I have been away for a few days playing with my new computer, Athlon 2.7Ghz chip, ATI Radeon 9700 Pro graphic card, Creative Labs Audigy 2 chip, 17" TFT monitor, cordless keyboard and mouse, Creative Labs 5300 surround system, 120Gb hard drive (what the hell will I do with that??), 512 RAM, fast CD-ROM/DVD oh boy oh boy oh boy and all this for a bargain price...

lordy, but i have been away too long. Not having the patience to read back more than two pages, allow me to spew forth my meager mockery of wisdom regarding cartoon violence:

while it is frustrating when arbitrary actions couteract one's intentions, there are a few unspoken rules of cartoon violence, that are all too often violated.

Firstly, you should never contradict someones cartoon violence. If, for example, Puke smacked 'Scoff with a rolled up newspaper, Dogscoff would not then say "but el vomito actually missed." He would instead retort that "the newspaper was made from substandard stock, and desentigrates on impact, leaving puke unarmed while umpaloompas bludgeon him with large wooden spoons." Thus, cartoon violence becomes an excercise of wits, not pedantic he-said she-said.

secondly, out of respect for the first rule, people should avoid trumps, and ultimate unbeatable situations. things like "I retreat to my fallout shelter seconds before my tactical nuclear warhead vaporizes Dogscoff, who was without his radiation suit +2" should simply never be said.

thirdly, in order to avoid cartoon escelation and proliforation on a scale only containable by international cartoon disarmament treaties, people should aim for self deprication. if a battle is heating up, take the fall youself. describe the other person clocking you, instead of the other way around. that way, you get to go out with style, rather than settling for how they would have phrased it. next time, you will get to do it to them. no one really keeps score, the important thing is to have a funny punchline.

Lastly, Taz, pour me a Spaten from the tap. an Optimator, please. and a round of Belgian ale for the Oompah band, between sets.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Mac, it was a fair trade, I bought some stylish new Danish study furniture and convinced she-who-must-be-bowed-down-before that a flat screen LCD monitor and cordless keyboard and mouse would be ever so trendy, state of the art and stylish....

She went along with it....

Have I mentioned the casing of my PC, I got it through a mate of mine who works at MESH and it has one of the new sleek dark neon blue Cyber Fusion cases, with a window on the side and some twinkly lights in it as well..... it is MIINNNTTT and Mediaval is so good on it, it is brill, the graphics are so clear you can see what your spearmen are thinking, and also spot the one in the fourth rank with a dribbly nose!!!

Puke, I agree with your rules completely, cartoon violence is more an exercise in creativity, humour and most importantly, a battle of wits and exchange of (mostly) civilised banter.......

Now Mac is back, where did I put my trusty (yet highly efficient) red hot poker hand cannon??
