After beating the British forces near Gazala, it is time to take the prize that eluded Rommel in 1941: Tobruk
The city is defended by several ex-Italian fortified posts, now occupied by South African forces. |
Re: campaign scenario setup help
although reports earler stated the english were already beaten at gazala the battle is still going on. the british commander has be reached by the frst german units trying to storm a ridge in the dessert. meanwhile the allies get more reeinforcements trying to beat back the axis battlegroup.
a huge amount of vehicles have been lost after only 30 minuits of fighting but it it looks like KG Huaser might once again be victorious. knowing that they are to continue and take tobruk only makes them push harder since they hope to surprise the defenders of the harbour. |

elements of KG Hauser have reached the outskirts of the Tobruk while capturing the fortified positions guarding the road. The Italian company is currently negotiating the surrender of the south african Battalion HQ with the last platoon of Matilda tanks driving around in the desert cut of from any friendly unit. their surrender might come soon ,too. enemy air activity was quite heavy and 2 Flak guns have been lost and 2 tanks damaged. since we have total control of the battlefield repairshould be no problem. AD has to be improved but unfortunatly no Guns have been captured so far maybe other units had more luck. Surely there will be lot of AD guns in Tobruk itself. Losses have been moderate with 32 men injured 3 mia and 13 kia. 154 Prisoner have been taken. The KG ist still comabt ready it needs some help in the AD department though if total air superiority can be guaranteed. |

Welcome back!
After the fall of Tobruk, British forces are falling back towards Egypt. It seems a bunch of them are conducting a rearguard action near the town of Mersa Matruh. Take the city. |

As the KG closes in on mersa matruh Stukas attack the city in a prelimanery bombardment showing a garisson devoid of any air defence but full of tanks and infantry. Damage inflicted by the 20mm guns is limited but the pilots' reports show that there is a serious fight ahead. |
Re: campaign scenario setup help
Welcome back to you too hehe. During summer the advance is slowed down a bit as you can imagine :)

Mersah matruh was nothingmore then a speed bump. the only losses were 2 trucks and 2 tanks as well as 5 kia 2 mia and 10 wia. Mainly due to the persistant raf air attack which returned again and again even after loosing 3 of the 4 planes in the area.
The luftwaffe had a little sucess damaging various allied vehicles and destroying 2. 300 men were taken prisoner of the infantry that couldnt retreat on time. the tanks move on further to the west. |

The British have retreated into Egypt, taking up positions at a bottleneck at El Alamein. We will have to break through their lines here, if we want to advance.

Arriving at the gate to egypt Hauser receives the questionable honor to be the first to try to break the uk defensive lines. He decides on a plan that relies on a fast and concentrated blow along the coast since the units are short on almost everything far from their supply bases and cant afford to slug it out slowly against the allies sitting close to their main supply port in alexandria.
First all available planes will attack followed by smoke to block of any view on the motorised units rushing to the front line. its a one chance attack if the situation gets unfavorable itll be dificult. |
