Re: Rise of the Remorhaz Society
OK, it took me an entire day but I have just read the entire thing end to end. I editted out all the non-story Posts and comments, so I have a few questions which may have been answered before:
1> Where didi the Romulans come from? First contact was never recorded. 2> What exactly is the status with the Texrak at the moment. There was something about relations turning sour, but presumably they are still allies. Did they have contact with any of the other races? Anyway, I've thoroughly enjoyed it, although I was a lttle disappointed at times when you rushed through certain parts, presumably because of RL pressures. That only seemed to happen near the beginning though, so that's OK=-) The thing I like most about it is that you genuinely don't know what will happen next: in most scifi/ fiction in general, you can be pretty sure that the good guys will win and the major characters will all survive. Here we have absolutely no idea what will happen. Anyway, thanks for the story. I'm off now to read the Hevdorah, the portfolion and start chapter 19 of O&C... |
Re: Rise of the Remorhaz Society
Thanks for reading, Dogscoff!
1. I never really developed the relations with the Romulans, but here is my account of the first contact with them: "In the Koltan system, a science vessel sent word back to Remorhaz of contact with a craft of unknown origin. The craft did not make a hostile move toward the science vessel, but did not respond to hails. Chairman Sachmo knew that if this new race turned out to be hostile, there would not be much hope for the future. He ordered Ambassador Mulatti to immediately draw up a message of piece, and he prayed to his god that this race respond favorably to his overtures." In reality, I never described who they were, and planned to, but I only described going to war with them. Part of this is because it was a long time between contact and war IRL, and I forgot. The other part of this is that every race I have met has declared war on me at one point or another. I guess I decided that it was inevitable! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif 2. The Texrax are angry with me, but we have a trade and research treaty. I doubt they have contact with any other races as I surround them on all sides. They sort of just sit there...breeding. I'll have to deal with them eventually. I did hurry the story along earlier, as I wanted to see what was going to happen, and if I could get to the end of the game. I have since decided that the end isn't going to come anytime soon, and so I'm just taking my time with the story. Hopefully, that will make it a better tale overall.
