Players, sorry I have been a bit distracted lately. But I just updated the Koth page and have four new games set up, including one on the 1.49 KOTH league.

Get your emp files loaded and give me settings and I'll start your games.

Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?

primitive steps out of his beat-up spaceship and examines the planet he has crashed on.
He has landed on a dry salt-flat without any vegetation or animal life.
Looking around, he sees nothing, except a single small mountain shimmering in the distance.
Stranded in this desolate landscape, primitive decides to check out this to hill.

Taking nothing but some water and his rusty (yet pointy) spear, primitive starts the long trek towards the hill.

Comming closer, primitive sees the first signs of life on the planet.
There looks to be a bunch of people, fighting each other, all trying to get to the top of the hill.

At the top, a solitary man is standing, calling himself "the king".
He must be the worst Elvis-impersonater ever, looking much more like a like a preacher the king.

Hefting his rusty (yet pointy) spear, primitve starts the long climb towards the top.

Did I forgot to mention "Proportions, 10 planet start?" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Actually it wouldn't take -that- long. One of the longest current KOTH games was 122 turns. Proportions 24 is pretty far in at 172, and that's with 5 players plus AIs.

The longest part would be killing the homeworld..force it to riot, though, and the game would be over soon enough.

ok sorry... turn 242.6 my 3rd system... I now have 13 planets and in 20 turns i will have a colony ship with 6 people 2 dogs and a cat on planet 14... I sure hope they can get those dogs and cats to make something to help build that resupply base in 2 years or it will take 3 years to build....

If two of you want to do a Proportions game for Koth I will allow it. I am over 30, but I am training my daughter to take over PBW when I die, so the server shold still be available.

But seriously, Koth might be the perfect venue for the proportions mod. It isn't that Proportions is slow, it's just that so little happens during turns. It removes a lot of micro managment. Acutally since Proportions homeworlds can support decent sized fleets all by themselves, the game could go faster cause players wont even bother to colonize. Just build, seek and destroy.

Game speed is just a matter of how many turns you play. If you get a couple of players that have similer schedules and lot's of Online access it could be very feasible. We have had a few KOTH games that have had dozens of turns per day.
