Grendel is now at church (eating the vicar I think)

A friend of mine has seen Two Towers already (I might add completely legally, he is part of the production crew) and his unbiased view is that it is even better than Fellowship, especially if you like battle scenes and that for the real Tolkien fans amongst you, Helm's Deep, the Rohirrim and the Ents will be sufficient to require each of you to wear rubber underwear

oops, the glass of water is vibrating on the desk, better get back to bed before grendel gets' me

Mac strolls into the cantina, tired, worn out from long weekend... waiter, 1 ice cold brewski, mac sits at his favorite pizza trap guarded table. hmmm awful quiet around here, No word from Saxon for some time now, GT playing hide & Seek with the Keeper, Gryphin off to who knows where, Dogscoff, Chardo Mon, Terran C just lurking around quietly, Mephisto off studing,Atrocities & Capt Kwok off working on their races & mods, Taz looking for work as a bartender, SJ slowing down as he gets older, Richard adding on to his home for the SE4 get together later this year at his place, Tesco here and there ..usually bbq'ing out at night.,Fyron off partying hardy, boy this place sure is quiet this time of year.... as he sips slowly enjoying the freshness of the wet cold liquid as it perpetuates itself down his throat,... aahhhh, hopefully the new or remodeled hangout will liven the place up he thinks to himself as some Kat fur slowly floats down from the rafters and lands on the table, hmmm didn't notice that new pie table the fluffy bunnies set up in the cornor,.... whipped cream pies, hmmmm a sparkle lights up in his eyes as he contemplates the possible usage of this new delight in the cantina....a smile crosses his countenance as he stars at those pies.... oh yes, this could be interresting......he mulls to himself,...

PS. Tesco I see the shattered alliance has been cancelled for now, is it going to be re-done, also what the on going status of your small little war game???

Don't forget to vote on final name everyone

Hello Mac, thought I'd take you up on the offer and stop in for some pizza. "Put that on Tescos tab my dear, Mac said I could". Have to pass on the brew as I'm just taking a break from work. I must admit my mind is halfway home already though, where TDM-Modpack is eagerly awaiting installation.
After that is done I'm hoping the AI will do more than declare war and send 2 Frigates after my 4 DD's!
I'm going to eat and run, and avoid the desert table, since I'm thinking you might be up to no good with what you're thinking about those pies! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

(Grendel is off terrorising the Kingdom of the Geats (or is that Danes?))

what is it about everybody here and pizzas? they are possibly one of the most boring types of food known to man and Dominos and these mass-market multiples are the worst offenders of the lot...

I think we should make a stand for real pub food, Ploughman's Lunch, Beef Casserole with Pickled Walnuts, Argentine Asada, Pig Roast, Pheasant and Chesnuts, Pork Scratchings, Chicken Itchings, Fish 'n' Chips, Irish Stew in a Basket, Scampi in a bun.. you know, that sort of thing

Hurrah for real pub trough, Boo to 'orrible things like sweaty calzones and greasy pizzas

PS grins quietly to himself as he tightens the Last ratchet on his famed multi-barrelled repeating high velocity cream pie chucking gauss cannon.. the joys of modern technology

Gt, I understand you travel quite a bit, but you apparently don't stray much from the beaten path if you believe that pizza is boring. Yes a steady diet of Domioes mass-market Version of the magical pie would get very tedious. But Pizza is also the height of self-expression. In the hands of a master chef it is more of an art than a food.

Mac stops in for his morning coffee & donut, sits down at his favorite table, puts in his order with one of the fluffy bunnies, and leans back. hmmm, quiet morning, StarJack stopped in, Mac waves, tells him to put it on Tescos tab, but if its full just to use Saxon's tab, Mac looks around, eyes the pie table with un-remorseful anticipation, sees GT sitting in the cornor singing to himself while he polishes some new type of barreled contraption, also it appears there's a large pile of cream pies on his table, now what is that old Kat up to now....he wonders??? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif , Mac reads the latest on the new name poll, the sports page where he sees Brazil as the new World Cup Champ, Poor Mephisto, have send him my condolances and a Pie or two http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif . His thoughts are interrupted by a engine sounding noise, now what the heck, he looks around and notices the noise is coming from GT, why the young Kat is Purring as he appears to be putting those pies into that barreld contraption.... hmmmmmm, Maybe its time to go to leave for now, Mac hurriedly drinks his coffee, downs his donut and walks out.(quite quickly)...

(camera pans to GT) "Oh what a beautiful Morning, My how its going to be a wonderful day, he sings to himself, a huge grin breaks out on his whiskered face.... to be continued.....

Geo I whole heartedly agree on the Pizza issue, however, with all those pies around, you might be careful in what you say to GT at the current time....,

Dogscoff looks up as Tigga loads his automatic splurge gun. Casually, he reaches under the table for a pLastic rain coat and umbrella. He dons the protective garments appropriately, cancels his food order and goes back to his beer.

Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina

(Grendel Last seen doing her famed "velociraptor eating cow" impression with a sticky bun)

GT checks the automatic fire sequencer on the Custard Pie Gauss Cannon and makes sure the loading hoppers are sufficiently stacked to handle 400 pies a second at maximum velocity

GT gets small cocktail umbrella from behind bar and gives this to Dogscoff to put over his beer, whilst thinking that he looks like that bloke out of the fish finger advert with the accordion...

GT then quietly walks round to all the staff and customers of the bar under the age of 50 and gets them to hide behind the waterproof sheeting GT has put over the bar area itself... GT then buys everybody a beer

Triggering the fire sequence, the gauss cannon turns on its automated mounting and the target lasing sights settle on Mac, who is quietly eating a stinky pizza and is farting quietly in the corner, having been persuaded NOT to leave the Cantina by the wiles of the 'Liz Hurley' fluffy bunny waitress lookalike holding a tube of anusol (like geritol but less sting)

With consensus from all bar denizens, GT pushes the firing stud and watches as Mac is hit by 1200 cream pies in just over 3 seconds....

Cue much hilarity, diverse alarums and exit stage left Growltigga, Mephisto, Saxon, Dogscoff and various other locals of the Cantina all having bladder problems)

My favorite local pizza place does a number of "specialty" pizzas, including:

Ranch Steak Pizza - garlic sauce, steak (as in Philly cheesesteak sandwich), french fries, onions, provolone, mozzarrella, topped after cooking with buttermilk ranch dressing

Greek: white sauce, gyro meat (roasted lamb), tomatoes onions, feta cheese, mozzarella, provolone

Cheeseburger: hamburger, onion, cheddar, tomato sauce, optional bacon

Hawaiian: pineapple, ham, bacon, provolone, mozzarella

Other toppings available include capicolla, spinach, zucchini, broccoli, and artichokes.

Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina

Poor Poor Mac yells the Liz Hurly Look a like fluffy bunny, what did that dastardly flea infested Tigga do to you, as she races over to help what appears to be a large ice cream cone. As she approaches, Mac wipes some of the cream pie from his eyes and sees her approaching, I've died and gone to heaven he immediatly thinks..., she starts wiping the oozing gooey mess from his abused body, Mac, like all good worshippers, looks at her with puppy dog eyes... sigh.... now this I can .... a strange and strangled scream rents the air, apparently coming from stage left where the Tigga made his hasty exit, Mac just grins and looks towards the door.... All the regulars just sit, they know not to investigate these types of sounds, however, Innocent Fyron, runs towards and then out the door,.. several minutes go by and then another more inhuman catwalling cry arises from outside the cantina, Enter poor Fyron, covered in Cream Pie filling from head to toe... One of the fluffy bunnies asks him what happened. "well when I went to see what that awful racket was, I found the Tigga, covered with cream pie filling matting his fur most extensivly.... In looking around, I found what appeared to be some type of trip wire across the doorway, this in turn led to a pully system attached to some weights which in turn were hooked up to an old fashion wash tub which appeared to have been filled with 2-300 cream
pies. The Tigga must have tripped the wire and was in turn splattered with the cream pies, nothing worse then seeing a grown tigga full of oozing, sticky, cream pie filling matting his fur from top to bottom. As he was wiping himself off, he saw some kind of picture on the bottom of one of the pie plates, since he had cream in his eyes and couldn't see to well, he asked me to see what it was...I looked at it and told him it appeared to be a picture of a male with what appeared to be a "Custer Hat" and a "Wooly Bear" on his lip dressed in cowhide boots with a sentance underneathe which stated "Compliments of the Gryphin Line Dancing Bakery"... Thats when the Tigga let out that hideous catwalling noise, When I tried to find out what was wrong he proceeded to pelt me with some of the cream pies that were still laying on the ground.... go figure,.. Fyron looked over at Mac who was laughing as he proceeded to clean himself off. "I had those pies special ordered, just for the tigga" he exclaimed..... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif Meanwhile, another fluffy bunny came into the cantina and said two trucks had pulled up and were unloading more cream pies for the cantina, when she asked who ordered them, the drivers told them the two men who hired them only told them to deliver it and something about abused Bar Tabs, when she asked who they were, they told her they didn't know just someone named Mephisto and another by the name of Tesco....

Oh and Fyron, pies......

to be continued

a very sticky Mac (but appreciates the Liz Hurley look like, sigh.....)

I do not make a habit of eating canine, I have always been uncomfortable with eating animals which lick their own genitalia, stick their noses up each others bottoms and eat poo. I am, afterall, a cat person. I prefer better stuffing on my roasts in any event.

Saxon staggers in, looking desperately for a reprieve from work and illness. Smells the stench of dog poo and rancid cream. Staggers back out.

Now that Tigga is almost well (physically at least) and able to play, it is time of another member of the Cantina to disappear. I have to go to Ghana for two weeks work. I will try to con a different laptop out of the IT guys, as the notebook I have will not run SEIV. The screen resolution will not put the entire thing on the screen.

dogscuff,
I didn't see it as "stealling", Probably my ego wanting the credit. I'm sure similar claims were made on the banks of the Nile while the Praymids were being built. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
As for glassing, we could start a thread on that. I first heard it used 25 plus years ago as a solution for the Mid East situation. The idea was to "glass" the area from Turky down to the Mid East and across North Africa to the Atlantic Ocean. A little radical for my taste.
None the less, it was egocentric of me to claim the "first use".
I'm probalby one of the most insecure people you will ever know of.

As for the Version of the release, for me it is V1.0 and I hope the final Version.
Beyond that would constitute more than you wanted to know.

Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina

"glassing" was used by both the British and American bomber command in WWII to describe the effect of the mass bombing attacks against German cities, not to be confused with the god-awful firebombing techniques used

my personal sci-fi favourite 'battle jargon' term is "vaping", as in "that ship got vaped" as in short for "vapourised" - I believe this came out of an excellent English comic I used to read called 2000AD (of Judge Dredd fame) and in particular, a story called "The Vacuumn Cleaners" about a bunch of spaceship fighter pilots - damn fine read...

Glazing is another term I've seen and heard used, mostly in Board Games over the years, somewhat in computer wargames..

a term thread would be neat

I uploaded my empire for the Bash. Ready to start any time. Only waiting for the trash-talking-cat and the line-dancing-bird.

Sorry Rollo

Have your team play against SOME GOOD SIDES like Nigeria and Argentina and see how you do

Face it, the first real competition you faced in that tournament was not Ireland but was Brazil and you lost 2-0.

We at least got one back AFTER beating ARGENTINA and DENMARK

and what happended Last time we played you boys - something about 5 1 wasn't it mein herr

Yea, there were so many good teams out there: France, Portugal, Argentina, Italy, England. We could have learned a lot from them. Pity is, they never come as far as we did. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

"Glassing" refers to a nuke. After the test firing they found that the sand at the target range was molten into glas by the heat.

Tut tut tut. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif All this talk about "how 'my' team does = how good I am." Useless jabbering, oh but it is interesting enough for sure. It does absolutely nothing for saying how YOU play SE IV http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif It only says, with all due honors, how a crew of happenstance coincident national fellows play for our common country. (Hat off to all the athletes.)

If the old obsteperous kat had no fear and some honor http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif , he would have uploaded his empire before I was forced to leave for more active grounds (ahh... am I making a permanent enemy here, or just saying what is so???? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif )

I am for sure NOT saying I'm the best player, http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif only that I'm willing to go at it with human opponents, personally, in battle, rather than vociferiously.

<grin> Could not resist needling GT about how long it takes him to load an empire. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Alright alright everybody - I will try and download my empire tonight to the PBW game - I was just waiting for Chardo Mon to get out of the wasy so that another good looking european (hi rollo) could join in and as we know, Germans always get to the final

I am back at work (how is that for tight - apparently, I am only allowed 4 days off sick for operations and I still have the stitches in and a lump the size of Gryphin's sex drive sticking out of my side_

I will try and upload my game by the weekend
