Something is wrong with your brain. This is the hottest game that's come down the pike in years, and I love it. That is possible. I have been having headaches lately. Quote:
I patched it Last night and now that is true yes. But I killed the wookie by mistake. Quote:
Thanks for the tip. When I treid this before patching the game would lock up. Seems to work ok now but still kinda difficult to manuaver. Quote:
I have read the manual. No matter what enemy I click first the game always has my character attack a different target. Most frustrating. Quote:
The game looks great, but again the controls are nothing like any RPG I have played before. They are more kindred to TombRaider than anything. The character is controlled like a FPS character would be and that is damned hard system to become comfortable with in a game like this where the character is controlled via camera angles. Quote:
I never said I didn't like RPG's. I just don't like RPG's that are not fun to play. This one is a boring game. Not enough interaction going on with the environment. I can't target things that I want to target, I do not have the precision control I need to manauver my character the way I need to, and constant "So and so wants to talk" interuptions really detract from the game. This RPG Star Wars game might be fun for you, but I demand more from a game than a X-Box Consule control system and lack luster game play. Additionally, I am giving the game a chance. I am playing it for a few hours each night. I just wond the race and saved the Jedi women. Man she is a pain in the butt isn't she? [ January 07, 2004, 06:53: Message edited by: Atrocities ] |
Re: OT: Best D&D RPG Game?
i'm trying the NWN nights demo and am currently playing an elf sorcerer/wizard. i figure i'll use the sorcerer slots for the combat spells and spells i'll use often and the wizard slots for variaty spells which will be usefull, but probably won't be used more than once. once i hit level 3, i'll add another slot. probably a spellcaster, maybe monk so my guy has decent defence.
sub-race just allows you to slap another name on a race, right? i'm getting the urge to buy it and multiplayer - if only to have party member's who aren't clueless. funny thing: when i created my sorcerer character, i created a familier. called him 'garfield'. got a wizard level, created a new one. called him 'heathcliff'. new one replaced the old one. and here i was hoping i'd get two. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif do i have to tell you guys what my familier was? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif weird thing: most of the time, my familier's legs don't move when it walks. glitch, i suppose. also, why can't i choose to run? would help while luring goblins in for that companion you pick up early and my familier to kill. |

Re: OT: Best D&D RPG Game?
in 3.5, a multiclass monk can't gain monk levels. is that true for NWN to? if it is, guess i'll go with rogue or something.

Re: OT: Best D&D RPG Game?
Its now 3:27 am, I am board sh*tless, and wide awake. Next question is: Is the game fun and if so on a scale of 1 (Bad) and 10 (Awsome) what would those of you who have played it rank it?

Re: OT: Best D&D RPG Game?
so far? 7. it's fun, but so far it hasn't done anything much to distinguish itself from any other of it's type. it hasn't done anything much to seem worse. except the interface. there's three function key's to hit, F1-12, shift F1-12 and ctrl F1-12. you can use these for pretty much any action, including text macros and emotions. right click on something and your available options come up in a circle around it. i'm not sure if i'll like it; sometimes the surounding icons are hard to pick out of the background, but it may end up being fast. you can queie up options while paused. the game lacks a true top-down view and tends to sufer from the walls-blocking-view-syndrome. i don't think they go transparent, either.

Re: OT: Best D&D RPG Game?
Hit pageup and pagedown to change the camera angle. You can get topdown.
Sorcerer/Wizard seems like a silly combo to me... you are reducing your spellcasting potential, halving the level of spell you can cast... you can always rest, you know. I believe that monks can gain levels while multiclassing. The speed you move depends on how far away you click the mouse. If you hold the mouse button down, you will continue to move in whatever direction the arrow points. Move the arrow far away, you run. Have it right up next to you, you walk. I have always been able to distinguish the radial menu buttons fine from the background. Maybe your gamma is too high? Or too low? |
