Re: AAAAAAAAAGH!!!!

Hey combat that is one badass ship http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif I like how you textured it for the most part, but for one question.

The gold (yellowish color) from the original drawing I showed you is pretty important to the ship's "character" for the race I'm creating so if you could just toss the gold in and see how that turns out that would be great.

Other then that I love it because it fits the mystery and high energy appearance of the race I'm making.

I'll get you a top down image asap too so you can help me get that textured and all, I have a friend holding onto the images for me on his web space so this might take a bit of time to get all the screenies, rough fill in with paint and then uploading.

The models are mine but I gaurantee if I can get this shipset done I'll have your name at the top of the list in the credits CW. Thanks again.

EDIT: Oh and the one ring at the backend that you made go verticle was meant to be horizontal okay http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif It's part of the engine matrix. In the double ring part just in case you don't know which ring I meant.

Alright it didnt take me as long to get them together this time and I was able to up the quality some more. I have the originals and the new Version both on there so you can see them side by side. I hope this is more of what you are looking for.

Edit: Just noticed your edit. I'm not sure what you mean about the ring. I didn't move them. All I did was rotate the ship to prevent distortion when I changed the image size. Its the same but it seems like your looking at it from a different angle.

Can't remember which, but the question was about how can I get the computer to stop using the swap file and force it to use my ram instead. I believe the reader said he had 2gig RAM and was frustrated when his computer lagged giving signs of massive HD action going on.

The response was basically to have him manually set his swap file size to the same min/max value (the value determined by going to the 'Performance Tab' in the Windows Task Manager [ctrl+alt+del] and getting the value from the 'Commit Charge(K) Peak' number and doubling this.) The person told him that doing this should greatly reduce the amount of HD Lag caused by windows managing the swap file. He also mentionned that win XP does not 'appear to use any memory above 512meg' the techie that answered the question said this must be a bug, because he has never seen his own 2gig RAM system ever make use of the extra memory. The techie contacted MS and got a reply that it was a known issue but should not lessen the performance of windows. (Duh! what a stupid response form MS.) of course I don't know if the response from MS was from an actual programmer of if it came through the customer support, but it's a strange answer indeed.

Personally I have my swap file at 768meg (I set it at this when I had 256 meg RAM I never noticed any lag due to intense swapfile activity.) FYI: when I had 256Meg RAM my 'Peak Commit' was at on average 380meg (which means I was obviously using my swap file) Now with my 512meg RAM I have noticed that it is pretty much locked at 480meg. So I guess that I might have to up my swapfile a bit, just in case.

FYI:2.0 I have a friend with 1.5gig of ram and I checked his system and his 'peak' is also at about the 480meg mark. It seams that Win XP has been 'optimized for 512meg RAM' and all evidence seems to support this 'known bug' Go ahead, check yout 'peak commit' see what numbers you have.

Nuf Said, Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Hey CW I like the gold on the primary hull but btw I also like the blue lines in the hull http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif So maybe have the gold highlight the forward section like in this pic:

http://members.cox.net/cchiare/Dread.bmp

Okay and keep the blue highlights as in the first model you made those are great http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif .

If it's not too much to ask maybe you could download nendo so I could transfer the files and make your job easier?

It's free and easy to use okay?

My peak commit charge is at 578k. My total is 331k. I only have 512 MBs of ram though... is this all XP, or just XP home that does this?
