Re: OT: Star Trek
Oh darn, I didn't see Insurrection. Data dies? Don't worry that's not a spoiler for me. I think I'll go rent it this Friday.
Continuing with my attempt to add Capt. Pike to new situations...and be weird. A Battlebots episode with Capt. Christopher Pike going against a Dalek! |

This is the stuff I really missed in Nemesis. I get tired of movies trying to reach a certain running time of around 2 hours to try to tell the story. Hasn't The Lord of the Ring taught the movie industry anything? I feel the Star Wars prequels also suffer from running time. I feel they cram too much in a small amount of space. But that is going off-topic. |
Re: OT: Star Trek
hickz, what you said about movie times is unfortunately all too true. I've read somewhere that most studios would rather release 90 minute movies so that they can be shown at the theatres more in a day than say something like one of the LOTR movies, which can only be shown 2 or 3 times during a day (maybe more during the summer when theatres open earlier). Don't go too much by what you read in the novelizations of movies. most of them are written based on early scripts, and by the time the author has finished the novel based on his script, the shooting script has probably been changed several times. That's why there are so many discrepancies sometimes between the books and the movies. Plus, Paramount has always stated that if you don't see it in the movies or the series, it isn't canon.

You're odd atrocities. You hate First Contact but like Insurrection?! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

Re: OT: Star Trek
Out of all TNG movies, I think first contact was the best. I also liked nemesis alot. Didn't really like Insurrection too much, and generations was just ok. It'd be a shame not to have another star trek movie. Even if Picard wasn't in it, maybe have the dominion mobilize for war again or something. I don't know I'm not a writer

Re: OT: Star Trek
News Flash: Next ST movie will feature Picard, Kirk, the Borg and Luke Skywalker.

Re: OT: Star Trek
hicksz you are so right.
And to think that Will Weaton (sp) was actually in the movie then cut was kinda a good bad thing IMHO. His character developed nicely in STGN, but was never explored after he went with the Traveler. (BTW I hated that whole concept) They cut so much of the movie out that even the deleted scenes are only a fraction of it. Oh well. You have to remember that we are all considered "Low on the intelligance totem pole" to be kind for what has been reportedly said about the fan bas by those who produce Star Trek, and yes, that is offensive. |
