Life goes on long after the thrill of living has gone. I gave up on finding love a hell of a long time ago.

It was my recollection that you're not all that old AT. (I could be mistaken.) I have been married for 13 years now, and at the ripe young age of 37 one thing I can say for certain is this: You will always look back on who you were and what you thought, and wonder how and why you were so mistaken and immature with your views on life.

You can't ever give up on anything, because the learning never stops.

A lot of good Messages and things to remember being mentioned in this thread. A lot from people who have been married quite a while.

And one from Tesco...about the first big hurt. You see, I remember being 19 and sitting in the woods on a creek bank in NC with a rifle in my mouth. I wanted to die because of hurt and I wanted her to know how much she hurt me. Then some sense set in as I realized I'd never "see" her pain because, well, I'd be dead. Then, I realized nothing was worth taking my life for. ANd though things seemed terrible then, I'm so glad I made the choice I did and have so many things to appreciate in life.

Others never recover and we read about them on page 6 at the bottom of the page. That is truly a waste!

I remember my first broken heart and I remember her face, name, eyes, lips, EVERYTHING! I also remember that if it had not been for her and the broken heart she gave me I would not have become the man that won my wife’s attention. So thanks D, I still hate your guts but I thank you for helping me to see I was nothing but an immature kid.

You will always get over the pain and look back at how much it really helped you to grow.

Unfortunately, I think a lot of us have been in that same position at one time or another.

It takes work to get a realtionship to work, 15 years+ now.

And remember, just becourse you're on a diet it doesn't mean you can't study the menu, as long as you don't eat any of it!

I was going to avoid that comment since it happens to be my favorite activity! And you know the wife never complains, he-he! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Interesting poll. I'm a bit surprise at the number of people who believe in soulmates though. The concept that on the entire planet there is just one person that you were meant to spend your life with seems a bit ridiculous to me, especially given the population of this planet.
As someone who has been in love far too many times for his own good, I know that most times when you're in love, it feels like you're with the only person that could make you feel the way you do, but, well, they aren't. Guess all I'm trying to say is that even if one girl, or two (or 29, if you're me) turns you down, there's still millions out there that you could love who won't reject you.

My concept or definition of SM is much less strict, and I expect that there are many more than one for most folks.
