Re: Genocide
I believe it is variable. When you attack planets, the damage you inflict can sometimes just kill civilians for a while before any facilities are destroyed. Sometimes facilities start getting destroyed soon after you start orbital bombardment. So I can't say that there is a known specific amount of damage that facilities can take.
This is how I see it, if I'm wrong, someone please correct me. Of course, I don't believe in orbital bombardment. That's why I'm a member of Intergalatic NABOB (NAtions Banning Orbital Bombardment). http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I rather seize and plunder a rival's planet, much more satisfying. |
Re: Genocide
I think it's probably something along the lines of, determine how many hitpoints the planet has due to population, add 100 per facility, then randomly distribute among that range. It might be a different number, but I seem to remember that being the number of "extra" hitpoints once population was accounted for. That's the only thing that I can think of which would explain what I remember seeing, which is that usually facilities are destroyed in proportion to the population, but sometimes several are destroyed early, and sometimes you will have a 0M population colony with a facility left (meaning last 100 damage).
But remember, sometimes it's just more fun to lob a MOAB at an inhabited world http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif |

However, abandoning the planet should still allow you to reclaim those free minerals: you should therefore send that population into the void if you want those minerals. Alternatively, just glass'em for being so silly.
