On the bright side, everybody's smart in their own way.

LOL AHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL LOL HAHAHAHAHA I do so hope you are kidding with that line Doggy SST the book came first!!!

Well that just shows how bad it was. The guy who wrote the book obviously didn't get it all as I said in my first post, so they had to make the film to straighten him out. Hopefully now the film is out, ppl will forget about the book.

OMG. That is just so horrible.. It is not even funny. Please; this joke has gone way to far.

Heinlin is one of the top SciFi writers ever; he is up there with Asimov and the guy who did Battlefield:Earth (Man, that was a good book...). His books are wonderful pokings and proddings at all number of things, with some wonderful and witty thought thrown in (porcupine defense... sounds like fun. How about telepaths on the ships exploring the galaxy? Classic.).

I mean, it is impossible to not like him, so please, cut the joke.

<note: edited to avoid comments that might get me banned if he was actually serious somehow>

Yeah, that was a great film. THat was the one with John Travolta wasn't it? Loved that film, probably the only scifi film as good as SST.

BTW, have you heard they're bringing out books of the LotR films? I bet they suck...

Speaking of "LotR" and "Battlefield Earth", I've heard that JRR Tolkien, who wrote the "LotR" scripts, was such a fan of L. Ron Hubbard that he named the chief Rivendell elf after him. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I just hope everyone's joking about Battlefield Earth being any good. Three weeks of my life I want back.

In my opinion Battlefield Earth the book didn't suck. It was a fun read and a good scifi story. It wasn't great literature, but honestly not a lot of scifi is great literature.

I started reading the Hubbard decalogy, what was that called, Invasion Earth or something? I read the first five I think. It just went on too damn long. If he had made that a trilogy I think it could have been really good.

well I have even more ammo to prove that Roper is a dumbass. I went and saw Sahara tonight and I thought it was a very well done movie. I don't know what movie those two saw, but the one they reviewed sure as hell was not the movie I saw. Perhaps they were to busy chatting or sleeping to pay attention to the moive. It went to great lengths to make its points and I found it easy to follow and very enjoyable to watch. THIS just proves the old saying, if Ebert and Siskle, now Roper, hate a movie... Go see it, if they love a movie, rent it on video. Hell IIRC, Ebert thought Gandhi was the most exciting movie of the year when it came out, and bombed Star Wars when it came out.... Go figure.

Regarding the Black Hole... I read a book called that and it was made into that (Disney?) movie. Are we talking about the same one? Where the mad scientist has a ship on the edge of a black hole. The mad scientist has figured out how to shield his ship from gravity and he has transformed all his human crew into zombie-like servants?

We are, one in the same. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Which if you think about it, wouldn't that be a neat thing to have in SEV? A Black hole portal to another system? (Think The Legend of Zelda light and dark worlds.)

It would be a cool thing, have the tech to go through a black hole to see what is on the other side.... Is it a dementional worm hole, or does it lead to no where in which case your ship never returns.
