Re: Any One Going To Go See Serenity?

Saw it Sunday and enjoyed it, but was let down a little after I saw reviews comparing it to the original Star Wars by people who should know better. 8 1/2 out of 10 here, going again tonight with a couple of different friends than Sunday, and hoping to convince others to go later this week.

EDIT: In addition, the Narnia preview looked like the second coming of LTR, I have marked Dec. 9 as an important date.

I saw it again today and enjoyed it even more. Man what a nice change of pace. I was going to go see Lord Of War but just coudn't bring myself to do it. I made the right choice.

I don't think 150$ million is the break even point... probably closer 50$ M... it's not exactly a "big budget" picture.

150m is 3 x the production budge of 50m which is the break even point for most movies.

Why does that sound too much like Farscape? The whole 'people are stuck on a starship running from stuff' plot, with someone trying to shoot them down/kill them/torture them...

By the way, Sci-Fi is showing a 'new' series called Firefly, with pretty graphical effects. Wonder if the two are related...

Yes, they are related...Serenity is based off of Firefly; same actors, etc... They made Serenity basically because the fans got mad at them for ending the Firefly series on TV.

I have to agree with Atrocities -- it is much better the second time around. Raise my score to a 9 1/2 out of 10. Lord of War didn't interest me either, although Into the Blue might -- the thought of Jessica Alba in a bikini brings a goofy smile to my face for some reason.

What guy wouldn't.

After the build up, I was a bit disappointed when I first saw Serenity, but I've spent a lot of time since thinking about it and definately will go see it again. The more I think about it, the better it was. Just took a while for some of it to sink in.

I think your not following the concept Null. This show IS nothing like Farscape. In fact they are so vastly differant that to compare them would be like comparing Little House On The Prairy to Star Wars.

Firefly was a FOX series back in 2000 I believe. It was cancelled after only 13 episodes, which is something that FOX is well known for.

I saw the movie twice and it was great each time. It had my wife cussing at one or two points. Both of us are Serenity fans and watched the series. I will be seing it a third time if I can help it. the only thing I did not like was they had to rush everything. I would have liked to have seen the first episode on the big screen followed by the movie.
'Lord of War' is an antigun film that shows how stupid the antigun people are.
