Re: Does ANYONE\'s wife/girlfriend like SEIV?
My wife is very tolerant of my gaming habits for the 15 years we have known each other. Whether it was RP games I used to play or computer games now - She has put up with it since she was my g/f in High school, through our engagement, and now as my wife. She would rather see me here hanging out with a computer game - ready to be summoned back to work at a moments notice.... than at some meat market bar with all my friends that are prowling for girls.
She is into Video games so she understands my interest in a computer game more than she ever understood my interest in RP games. [This message has been edited by AJC (edited 12 April 2001).] |

She says it look spretty boring - not as much as Stars!, though .. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif
But she likes Boardgames, and spends ages playing "Anno 1602" and something like that, not to mention "Tomb Raider". And she really likes roleplaying games ... A. |

Anyone know any good games for "converting" computer- hating girlfriends?

Well... I don't know if it will "convert" her. But my wife generally rolls her eyes as I bLast people away in Counter-Strike. She always pokes fun at me by saying "Off to save another world?" as I head off to my computer. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif BUT... I can get her to play some computer games, just not the ones I like. I did get her addicted to the SIMS for a while and she did occasionally play Sim City 3000. She even got pretty far in Grim Fandago. Right now, I have her addicted to the internet. I set her up with her own computer and she spends lots of time in certain forum's she likes. She also does plenty of e-mailing. I just think women in general do not like same kind of games men do. While I can enjoy an occasional game of The Sims or Sim City, it's not my cup of tea. The same goes with my games for her. ------------------ Regards, KiloOhm |
Re: Does ANYONE\'s wife/girlfriend like SEIV?
My HUSBAND does not appreciate SEIV at all. Nor does he appreciate any of the other games I enjoy, which happen to (pretty much) all be strategy and RPG's. However, I do not appreciate his flight sims, either. Complex, machine hogging, flight stick requiring flight sims (and related games, like ATC sims). Happily our dual income, no kids life style gives us time for both :-)

Re: Does ANYONE\'s wife/girlfriend like SEIV?
I'm not alone. It's incredible how everyone's description is so similiar to mine. I too have to sometimes plot a secret time to play...but I usually play while my wife is at work if I can.
Sometimes my wife will let me play and then after a hour, she's like "Are you getting off yet?" - I only get like 6 turns in! [This message has been edited by capt_spoogy (edited 13 April 2001).] |

HAhahaha...thanks for the much-needed laugh at work, Dracus. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif I'm currently in an LD relationship, so I can still get away with it. Although with school and work lately, I rarely have time for too much besides a quickie FPS. Funny about the offline friends comment, though...only one of my friends is into SEIV. Is it just me, or is SEIV mostly a web-based/word-of-mouth/fan of previous SEs thing? Anyone here because of game reviews? zen |

Yep. I first heard about SEIV while browsing strategy reviews on GameSpot. |
Re: Does ANYONE\'s wife/girlfriend like SEIV?
I guess I'm really lucky. I've gotten two friends into SE4 is a painful way (they are as bad as me now). As for the girlfriend issue, my fiance' only plays games with wanton carnage. She never wanted to try anything like Unreal Tournament, but I made her one time, and now she thinks Head-shot is the most wonderful sound in the world. Anything with more thought and strategy than Diablo II she'll pick up for an hour then never look at again. Go figure.

Re: Does ANYONE\'s wife/girlfriend like SEIV?
I found SE4 by accident at a review site, can't remember which one although I should remember and thank them. I that whatever it was that told me to download the demo, as I usually don't do that.
