Re: OT: Star Trek 11 (?) news...
Anyone ever see the tick? They did a whole show about how Arthur(Tick's "Moth" Sidekick)hadn't told his parents about his new "Super" lifestyle choice. He "comes out" as a super hero to his parents and they commit him to a facility to "deprogram" his "delusions of super". The facility was run by Dave Folley, from News Radio and Celeb poker, who it turns out is closet super himself(he puts ofthe hero's costumes and locks his office and prances around in them). It was a frickin hilarious show that got fouled over by fox, only 1 season, but soooo wesome.
But yeah, between inuendo, pop psycologists, religious wack jobs, we're all flaming gay, manic, depressed, hellbound sickos who want to screw our mothers, kill our fathers, addicts who are "addicted" to stuff that is impossible to be addicted to, who need to be constantly doped up, but not with certain substances, jus the ones that cause impotence, anal leakage, stomach craps and liver failure that have 15 sylables in their names, all because we weren't spanked or spanked to much, or not hugged enough, or hugged to much, or hugged in a nono zone. Sometimes a man in red and blue tights, a codpiece and a cape with a 13 year old ward, is just a man in red and blue tights, a codpiece and a cape witha 13 year old ward..... |

Re: OT: Star Trek 11 (?) news...
As long as they avoid that academy movie or series that's been kicked around for years. I can picture it now. "Star Trek 90210" (shudder) No thanks. Even a hardcore trekkie like me wouldn't watch something like that. I hardly ever watched BH 90210 (and that was in the early years), and modern shows like The OC I generally avoid like the plague. Give me a good movie similar to ST 2 or 4, and I'll be happy. Just don't bring in the borgs, because I'm sick of them and I think they've been overdone. A good Federation/Romulan war would be good. Maybe they can even do the one before Kirk's time, which is where it looked like Enterprise might have been headed to if it had lasted another season or two.

I'm over Star Trek and Star Wars. Those brands are dead to me.
The only decent thing to come out of the Star Wars universe in the last ten years is Knights of the Old Republic. Which, if you haven't played - and like console-style RPG's - is worth the time. |

Re: OT: Star Trek 11 (?) news...
After reading Starczynski's and Zabel's pitch, I can safely say those two need to be hurt. With a rock or something.
His basic pitch is to reboot trek from before the original series where they find an ancient and obscure civilization with tons of nifty gadgets and stuff for a pilot. (There is a reason why B5: Crusade failed. There is a reason why Glen Larson's Buck Roger's season 2 failed. And, please sir, no more Vorlons). And apparently, by the end of the pilot, Kirk fights it out with another alien to get the mysterious city of the ancients.... what? no ripped shirts? Then he goes on to talk about a galactic "Da Vinci Code" conspiracy in the DNA of all kinds of races --- wait he said "Artist's signature"... that sounds like a soft-sell on Intelligent Design! Bah! Leave religion to Galactica! I know JMS is an athiest, but the man dumps far too much religious material into his work for my tastes. That's not to say JJ Abrams deserves any better. I feel what he's doing will amount to a reboot of the frandchise much like JMS has been planning. I'm personally a fan of the Susstrem (spelling?) Romulan War Trilogy and I think a good movie triliogy might serve the series good a few years down the road, but it's just too soon. Plus that trilogy would indicate that James T Kirk was named for a relative of his from that period, Capt. Tiberius Chase and not the roman emperor http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif |
