I modified the robo-miners so that they were more efficient (1500 units) and cost less. I like to use them in finite resources games (especially on worlds with moons - you make around 7500 units in profit!

Remote mining is profitable without modifications if you reduce your racial maintenance rate. I like playing races with NO maintenance, which makes robo miners useful indefinately, even on poor asteroids. If you are a maintenance free race, you might consider taking 80% in resource gathering in each Category, so you actually want to pursue building ships for gathering resources, especially minerals which are always in demand.

Yes, thanx for the quick mod info JimBob55. (And yes, I am quite behind...) I apologize for not posting my info, but when I saw his explanation, I figured it would have been a duplication of effort.
