Actually it sounds like an SC balance to me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

That would be true if this horror didn't target everyone in the hall of fame... including weak little commanders like Frodo(Mercenary Commander).

" I can't do this Saaaaaaam. "

Also totally unfair on starting combat pretenders like dragons, titans etc...

My dragon got killed within 2 yrs and my other pretender on turn 18. All they did was attack strength 5 indies and did not even have a single magic item. So well, hard at game start, neither were supercombatants.

Yes anyone who uses their god to attack provinces. I didnt mean that it attacked only SCs, just that it was a fix against their use. (possibly)

It's NOT a fix, the devs already said it was a bug. And besides that, that's the dumbest excuse for a 'fix' I've ever heard. It's almost totally random to begin with (people have reported their commanders dieing in the first few turns), which wonderful for a strategy game to begin with ... but then it goes so far as to punish people who are doing well? It's not intuitive on any level, it doesn't improve strategy or the depth of the game at all, and the community pretty much universally hates it.

If SCs were so broken that they needed a nerf like being randomly killed off, maybe they could add in more/better anti-SC strategies that players can use, instead of ... making the game more random. Heck, I thought Horror Mark spamming an SC was supposed to be one solution to SCs in the first place, which is an actual strategy.

Don't mean to sound hostile if I do, but I can't honestly understand defending this bug on any level. At best it's silly, at worse it's frustrating and game breaking.
