Oh, now I know what was asked.

Yeah, all you do is login to download. You CAN ENTER THE MAP! Nikolai. You just don't want to press "E" you want to press "options --> quit without saving" or whatever.

Hmm, I seem to have the Worthy Heroes mod loaded for another game I am playing. Does this affect this game? Should I unload it or something? It's odd that the mod's activation status seems to be associated with my Dominions installation, rather than with any particular game.

So many questions new players have!

uhhhhhhhhhhh...................

does the mod change anything about the pretender creation process?

you should upload a new pretender just to be safe, however, I'm not going to wait for you so if you don't upload a new pretender on time we'll just have to see what happenes.

Is the game started? I didn't see any changes at the server and now it seems to be down.
Do I misunderstand something?

I think it is a pretty simple mod and it should pose no danger except possibly when I am actually taking my turns. I think it very likely that my pretender is fine, but I thought I'd make sure by asking. But... do I have to manually deactivate the mod before I take a turn, and then reactivate it before I take a turn in the other game? That would be lame! Does anybody know about this?

When you choose a mod it is active for game or pretender creation. After a game has been created, it will always try to load the mods it was started with.

So, no. There's no need to turn mods on and off when taking turns. As long as you have them installed everything will work fine.

The only potential problem is if you have a mod turned when you create your pretender that actually changes the pretender you make. It's safest to have all the game's mods, and no others, on when making a pretender.

Why is it a bad idea to simply do your turn on the server?

I can't find any reason why it should be a bad idea.
But it is always nice to have a trn file of a particular battle or maybe an enemy SC.

Its not bad to do it on the server but there is a slight element of risk. The problem occurs when you are the last player out (or near last) - if you accidentally hit end turn, your turn will automatically be submitted. If you just happen to be the last player there is no way to correct this. You are screwed. Even if you are near last, others can complete before you do and you may become last and not know it.

Generally, what people will do is connect to the server to get their turn then immediately disconnect. Play the turn offline (where you can end turn all you like, accidentally or not) and then connect to the server once the turn is complete.

P.S.
Sivoc, you need a less annoying avatar pic
