Re: autokilled after routing an ashen angel. bug?
I'm really beginning to believe the Tomb Oracle is Mindless. According to the 'Lies My Rulebook Told Me' thread, Mindless commanders, if forced to retreat, will dissolve. This sounds like the Oracle dissolved. Can someone check if the Tomb Oracle is Mindless? I can't check from here.

Morale 18, so no, Tomb Oracles aren't mindless.

Re: autokilled after routing an ashen angel. bug?
The log shows the rolls for resisting the enslavement and shows the Ashen Angel resisted the enslavement. The animation for the enslavement is probably intended to appear whether it works or not, as happens with some other types of magic attacks - the animation indicates the attack, not the success.
The Turn 8 log starts off with magic effects happening to the TO - does the Ashen Angel's built-in Bane Blade cause Decay? Or did it have some other effect that might strike at the start of the turn: "blastsqr: unr8527 x22 y9 aoe1 dmg5 eff1003 spc640 as10157 al9 blastsqr: unr-1 x21 y10 aoe0 dmg20 eff2 spc20608 as1317 al4" Maybe the failed morale check is a red herring, and actually happened after this magic square blast killed the TO? Or maybe an Ashen Angel assassination is different from a conventional assassination in that broken units are removed? Because the log does show: "broken unit 8527 removed from bg" |
Re: autokilled after routing an ashen angel. bug?
I think that blast is the decay effect of his bane sword, it showed it every turn. I don't think it damaged him, it doesn't announce inflicted damage, and the replay never shows it. TO is undead; arn't they immune to it anyway?

Re: autokilled after routing an ashen angel. bug?
Usually when I get routed by an Ashen Angel's built-in Fear, the units run off the edge of the map. They are not instantly removed. Aren't all units that leave the bg broken by definition? That's probably all the message means, 8527 routed off the edge of the map.

Undead are not immune to decary, I guess it is a bug. But it does not cause any damage, it add 5 years every turn and you get a lot of afflictions. That damage type he got could be additional years.

Re: autokilled after routing an ashen angel. bug?
he never fled for the end of the map though. he just disappeared.
the log shows a string of moral checks there at the end, I wonder if something was going on such that he just didn't show as running in the replay, and the mechanics didn't even play it out right, but ultimately ended up treating him as if he ran anyway. |
Re: autokilled after routing an ashen angel. bug?
Maybe he did flee off the edge of the map and the graphical replay is incorrect and/or hard to see?

Nah, undead do not have maxage high enough. For Tartarian one battle under Decay means he really gets over his maxage and gets a lot of nasty afflictions.
And it is a bug because undead description says they are immune to all that old age stuff. |
