Re: Players Profile List

Well, each and every forum user has "visitor messages" section in his profile which is visible to everyone. Why not post there anything you want, any MP player characteristics?
Also, it would probably be the simplest and nicest if each player (maybe organize this at llamaserver??) just had a personal rating and everyone (with, say, more than 20 posts in MP forum) could vote for him thus effectively increasing or decreasing player rating. If people here, as you say, WL, are mostly polite, we could hope that this rating would not reflect personal attitude but player skills instead.

btw. Imho, Hall of Fame doesn't currently reflect anything at all. Neither player skills nor nations strengths.

Re: Players Profile List

I can understand what was WL's suggestion aiming for. Sharing knowledge between different people. If someone plays 9 games at once and writes at least 50 posts a day, he will surely be more known than someone who plays one game from time to time. But does it reflect player skills in any way? I think not. And when you meet someone new in game you would always like to know who is who.
So, while I generally like the idea and see much sense in it (especially taking on account llama's words about constantly increasing number of players at llamaserver) it, in my opinion, requires some other implementation.

I like your suggestion.

I also agree about the HoF. Not that I really care about this one way or another. For what its worth though, I think that if the intention was to give some statistical measure to a player's strength than at least few additional mandatory numbers should be included.
However, HoF is not what I had in mind, rather something more akin to karma.
I also don't necessarily see drama and discussions as bad things -- so long as they remain polite and positive.

I'm not known to be a very cynical person, but even I know that a place where you judge people's karma will not remain polite and positive for very long. You are all free to prove me wrong of course. I would be both proud and happy if you did.

Re: Players Profile List

Perhaps a better implementation would be to ask each reviewer a set of yes/no questions about the player they are reviewing:

Did this player acquire provinces faster than you?
Did this player research at a faster pace than you?
Did this player's army grow faster than yours?

Did this player propose any diplomatic agreements with you?
Did this player accept any diplomatic agreements you proposed?
Did this player honor all agreements made with you?

Were battles against this player generally weighted in his favor (force-wise)?
Were battles against this player generally weighted in your favor (force-wise)?
When battling this player with evenly matched forces did he consistently win?
When battling this player with evenly matched forces did he consistently loose?

It would still be subjective, but it's acknowledged as such. ***-u-me-ing the aformentioned politeness and honesty attributed to Dom3 players, more reviews for more players would allow (potentially) meaningful values to be assigned to some of the 'characteristics' in the original post.
